  • Something is simply perfect ! : )

  • ジミー・ヴァン・ヒューゼンの綺麗な"DARN THAT DREAM"の最高峰、ビル・エヴァンスとジム・ホールがいっそう研ぎ澄ます!蒸留水ジャズ #jazzm

  • I cant get enough of this song. Bill evans just swings so hard even with no rhythm section.bill evans take on Heres that rainy day is also a truly amazing song

  • What's going on guys?

The photograph was chosen by Bill Evans himself for the record......a photograph by Toni Frissell titled Weeki Wachee spring, Florida.

  • 3:01 - hall and evans hit the same single note. cool sound. stealing that idea, too. this track is just too horribly, god-awfully tasteful...

  • @jamesedwardtheobald: Here's what Peter Pettinger wrote in his Evans biography about Bill's technique for this session: At ballad tempo he moved along gently behind the soloist with evenly spaced chords, functionally equivalent to guitar strumming, and simultaneously providing harmony, rhythm, and a a cushion for his colleague. In doing so he glided smoothly without accents, demonstrating--along with the ability to sing--another non-percussive use of his instrument.

  • i think i will change the name for the chinese version dam that stream

  • wooooooooowwwww....another Bill's performance I didn't know. thx for sharing. made my day

  • How wonderful! Perfect.

  • et moi je dis : c'est génial :) merci captain !

  • what is the name of that photograph? it is also the cover of a Gustavo Olijov album called Oceana. Olijov is an argentinian contemporary composer.

Solo puedo escuchar y aprender.

  • definitely a top 10 for jazz album polls

  • i was looking for this song omg... superb*

  • This is such a great interpretation. Loving this!

  • what a great combination of two great Jazz Musicians!

  • Thanks for the explanation Capt. Buster - well said! I should have read the other comments and I would have understood it. Thanks for taking the time. I listened again and with your comments in mind, it made it all fine. Many thanks!

  • I love the music & of course Bill Evans but I could have done without the chick in the drink - hard to look at. But I closed my eyes, just enjoyed the GREAT music you wee kind enough to post here and I thank you very much and ask that you not take offense to my comment about the woman - none was meant. Thank you and I have subscribed to your awesome musical taste Captain Buster.

  • Thank you ManagerGuy1, you seem like a bright chap!

As some of the earlier commenters have already mentioned, the picture is meant to represent Evans pain after the death of bassist LaFaro. At least to me, the picture complements the sort of pensive melancholy (typical swedish mood) in the music that makes the album so darn special. No offense taken, I can certainly relate to the introspection that you are hinting at. Have a good one!

    /Buster

  • @CaptainBuster ..... I think that this picture is not only beautiful, but one of the most fitting albm covers I have ever seen , considering the title of the album and the mood of the music

  • @CaptainBuster Not to mention that its the photo that appeared on the original album cover. Yeesh. Some people are just uninformed. Personally, I think the photo is simultaneously beautiful and haunting. Just like this music. It's perfect. The folks at Blue Note knew what they were doing.

  • @CaptainBuster: And a little background information on the photo: it was taken at Wikee Wachee, Florida, where one can stand in a submerged tank room with windows and watch "Mermaids" perform underwater ballet.

  • @ManagerGuy1 lol i do even with my eyes open.. haha this stuff is awesome.stoned...

  • @ManagerGuy1 are you saying you don't like that album cover? That is one of the coolest photographs i've ever seen!

  • @ManagerGuy1 I absolutely love the cover picture on this recording and have ever since I purchased the record when it was newly released. It's gorgeous and evocative, in my opinion - it's lyrical, romantic, and has a great feeling of depth (as in subconscious depth) not unlike the music played by Evans and Hall. Also, the woman has lovely feet.

  • Two masters of introspective, melodic jazz who know how to listen and create delicate interplay coupled with respect for space and silence between the notes.

  • I like that they don't overplay and let the song breathe

  • maybe the greatest jazz album ever...

perfect blend, interplay and phrases you cannot easily find somewhere else.

  • She's not dead, she's surreal, or in a dream. Corpses float face down.

  • corpses can float face up too

  • female corpses float face up- see Huck Finn

  • @Gorsegrower she is drowning in her emotions.. but her head stays up. she still makes it everyday...

  • @Gorsegrower: She's actually a water ballet swimmer at Wikee Watchie, Florida. This was the album cover of Undercurrents.

  • Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IMMENSE

  • LIKE MEETING GOD.... (sigh)

  • pour manu

  • Thanks so much for posting a musical

treasure; what a powerful impact such

a delicate piece has. It's just stunning

what simple beauty there is to behold

  • The pinnacle. It tears my heart out.

  • What's with the dead lady?

  • its a photography, they used it as a cover for the album, i think it represents the pain of evans from lafaros death.

  • nice one for putting this up. awesome tune played by awesome guys.

  • Anytime.
