  • @Mrmontgommeryburns

    2a-fin)

  • there would be no modern franve without louis. france's modern borders where established by him.

  • What are the song being played in the video?

  • @sgt485 Music by Jean-Baptiste Lully :

-Danse de Neptune (from "Divertissement royal")

    -Menuet (from "Alceste")

  • I'm curious, did the duke of Marlborough ever lose one battle in the Spanish Succession war, because it seems to me that he hasn't.

  • In the history of western civilization only few personalities had enouth influence to put their name in a entire age.

Perigres of Anthens. The Pericles's century

Augustus the first emperor of Rome. Augustus's century

Louis XIV. The XVII century turned around him.

    Napoleon. Napoleonic wars, napoleonic age.

Queen Victoria. Victorian age, peak of Britsh empire.

    France 2 X 1 Britain

  • Pledoux

Don't forget the Frankish Empire also under Charlemagne.

  • Also let's not forget the easiest crusade in French history, the conquest of engla

    (1066) x)

  • Comment removed

  • Well he did with me and I don't pity any english barbarians who feel superior to the French (completely false).

  • @pledoux you mean wars of the coalition? Napoleon didnt start so many of them. it was the british.

  • One day, The Bourbon Restoration will be founded again my friends! There is Princes and PRINCESSES STILL ALIVE IN fRANCE TODAY JUST LIVING AND NOT GETTING TERRORISTS OUT OF fRANCE. i'M HALF fRENCH also and Love it more than all of you know! Vive La France!

  • malplaquet was a french victory in the strategic sense, although in a tactical sense the French withdrew from the battelfied and they have bloodied the English and allies. At Malplaquet the french literally cut off the English balls and they have to quit the war.

  • Ironical that the Bourbon were desposed in France and France today is a Republic and the only site where Bourbon are in power today is Spain

  • The sun king's court was the inspiration to other european courts. Russian Tsar Peter the great tried to copy everithing of Louis XVI's court, his new capital, Petrograd and it's palaces had Versalles as inspiration.

  • Bravo Citoyen!

  • Superbe !

  • Vive le Roi!

  • however interesting to read those (sometimes contrasting) comments, what should be pointed out is not weather france won or not, but the fact that this king drained its economy to the bone, causing poverty and hostility (taxes over taxes) for the sake of his vainglory and playful conception of war. Failing on top of that his main goal: to reach the Rhine 'natural frontier'. he was a typical representative of the most idiotic european mentality of the time (i allow myself -being an european)

  • This King started a Golden Age in France.

  • I'm a real Cajun. I always win. Because God loves the Cajuns. The ones that come from La Belle Louisiane in the good ol' US of A.

  • Basically, whenever France is in a better situation after a war, it is a vctory.

After the Devolution war, France gained several cities and castles on its eastern border, like Valenciennes. After the Dutch war, France gained other cities and castles in Alsace and crushed the Dutch financial supremacy. After the Augsboug league war, France lost nothing while the whole of Europe had attacked Louis XIV. After the Spanish succession war, Spain was ruled by a French King and became an ally.

  • "french ties"???

any war which ends with a treaty that is favorable to you is considered a victory.

  • Pov'truff..!

  • he should have annexed the netherlands in 1672.....

  • Louis XIV "I am the State". Great King, the two Kings following him weren't half as good.

  • Actually "I am th State" is an invented sentence that he never said. When he died, he said : "I am leaving, but the State remains."
