  • Why isn't Australian music as good or as original as this anymore... it's all too Americanized and ruined by popularity contest winners. It really is just Kylie all by herself and it has been like that for almost 10 years... come on Australia, you can do better, look how great Canadian musicians are for instance!

  • Best song ever by possibly the greatest Australian band ever...

  • the best icehouse song ever

  • There needs to be a revival of their music. It has timeless qualities.

  • @bilby53 agreed

  • Cool!!!

  • ADORE this...just adore it...

  • Fabulous song!

  • Raiders of the Lost Ark has much to answer for.

  • I think of Marie remember the factory days?

  • ICEHOUSE, the most underrated Australian band...

  • @Alvinsweeeeet I'M A KIWI. AND I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.

  • @Alvinsweeeeet ICE HOUSE IS TOURING NZ VERY SHORTLY WITH HALL AND OATES.

  • SEXY IVA WITH OR WITHOUT MULLET....

  • amazing, always one of my fave's

  • What a masterpiece of 80s music!!! It doesn`t compare to what is presented on radio stations these days... by far.

  • One of the best songs I've ever heard even after 30 years from one of the best bands from Oz and yes Noiseworks are right there with them.

  • Incredibly gifted and multi-talented band who along with Inxs and Noiseworks are my favourite Aussie artists, but the real swinger for me is the almost "Roxyfied" vocals and construction of some of their songs and seeing that Roxy Music are the vehicle for the Son of God, that is the biggest compliment I can pay

  • wow..their best song i'd say..

  • Hey Guys,

What is here wrong?I can't loading that song with Itunes or You tube Converter...

    Can you help me?

  • Superb nothing more to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrIliner agreed.

  • How do these guys not get recognized? Apart from Air Supply these guys are the best band in Australia

  • grouse song!! iva davies rocks!!

  • brilliant

  • Timeless beauty...

  • Always loved Icehouse a much underated band. You can certainly hear the Roxy music influences in this song.

  • Agreed. So underrated. Too much Chisel going on to be appreciated.

  • i still have it on cassette i love this album send response to ozg40@yahoo.com

  • ich liebe den song

  • Outstanding song !!!

  • this looks like the same location of the video of HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF" of Duran Duran.

  • @tecnoborg75 wrong duran duran filmed it in sri lanka this was filmed in the middle east by the looks of it

  • @Atomicomet The video was filmed in Tunisia.

  • @Atomicomet yes this looks a lot like the video to ''golden brown'' i think they were both filmed in morroco

  • i have always rated Icehouse as one of the greatest australian bands around. brilliant

  • What an amazing voice. Just brilliant. Can't get enough.

  • Great tune.. Drums... Guitar...

    Love it

  • even betterrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • ich muss Neflas recht geben..er trifft es auf den Punkt

  • Great tune, takes me back to 1984 big time.

  • Great tune takes me back to 1984 big time.

  • Great song , great band ...

  • its in the outskirts of Tunis in Tunesia... as i know it.

  • Where was this video filmed?

  • for some reason when i see this cool video i think of the novel the sheltering sky it looks like it was filmed in morroco

  • I cant help but find todays music a little boring compared to when I was growing up in the 80's with this music. One of the best bands to see in concert

  • Great band and great song. I thought that this was a new Roxy Music track, lots of Ferry influence IMO, until I found out it was Icehouse.

  • Great stuff man.and i like Hawkwind too. Black night parked some where, Sonic Attack on the car stereo, joints, and all good man. Memories from Andy the old Aussie bloke.

  • isnt it great that music like this bookmarks your life when i hear this song i know what i was doing and up too thats what i love about music

  • BEST MULLET EVER..!!! #LOL → LOVE THESE GUYS.!

  • fuckin great band-ICEHOUSE RULED

  • one of there best

  • Classic....... this is music at its best!

  • wow...has it been that long? we wore out two vinyl copies of Primitive Man. Thanks for the memories, Iva

  • Top 10 albums for me in the 1980's Iconic, unforgetable

  • Yeah, todays music is a joke most of them. Why do they do it like that??

  • @zhred It is because children are not being taught it anymore, it is not important, sad. Parents should if they can introduce the classics and give them music lessons. Teach the classics so that they understand the notes, melody, and harmony and how they need all those components not just noise and rhythm. By classics I mean things such Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, even George Gershwin. Today’s children have no idea what music is they do not hear it. Iva had this.

  • Give him a fedora and a whip, and he'd be a dead ringer for a certain film hero.

  • Great song!

  • Well said, I agree 100%

  • fck yeah

  • you think tthats a good song

  • není co řešit :-)))

  • Ivor Davies is pretty talented. He's a multi-instrumentalist....that would be him playing the oboe part in this at about 2.25. He has written the score for quite a few films.....including Master and Commander (The Russel Crowe movie).

  • this is fuckin awesome music loved it in the 80s still love it now

  • love this band and this song. was a single in the states. but the whole album rocks. they were part of my very mispent youth.

  • always awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing the video direction,a bit of class unforgettable!!!!!!

  • ♥♫♥ great song ♥♫♥

  • best sound, best song... timeless

  • that sound is usualy at the sun burst dude why not fill the house with oprah and be blessed with iva and his artistic point of view I m comin to make sure its big in shorts

  • 80´s I miss you !

  • Maybe one day Aussie music will meet at the street cafe and tear down the boards of the door that have been there since the late 1980's and produce more outstanding music. - until then Aussie music R.I.P

  • Brilliant. Sad we are at this point, now. Is there any way back?

  • Thanks for posting this. You would think that a video of this caliber would have had airplay on MTV in 1982 but I have never seen it before. However, I did own a copy of "Primitive Man" in that year (because I saw "We Can Get Together" played in 1981) and fell in love with this song. I was 12/13 & it was time to learn a musical instrument at school. I picked the oboe specifically because of it. I'm grateful for Mr. Davies for that :)

  • My favourite Icehouse song. Haven't seen the clip for years, thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • If my dad were`nt a Generation X person, I would of never been introduced to Icehouse. ICEHOUSE RULES!

  • great band....tribute bowie

  • a great era to be a teenager.

  • @80sOGRE Could not agree more !

  • Classic Icehouse and my fvourite of their work.

  • @BroncosFan1990

unfortunately, lack of airplay i reckon.

  • How was this not a worldwide hit?

  • @lopergrad unfortunately it was a cross between management & record company ...fate & timing brought their 'worldwide' hit 4 yrs later.

  • Icehouse are brilliant!!! timeless, talented, so many great hits. Superb!!

  • @zweazel71

Fuck yeah they are awesome better then Firehouse.

  • Ditto to the last two comments, this was great music.....those of us who lived the 80's understand, our music was happy, uplifiting and original........good times. This is a great band.....talented to the end.

  • I can't get enough of this song....I was so in love with Iva Davies...tee hee hee. God, the 80's

  • @ozzyinny Ah Yes Iva was Hot!! actually he is not too bad these days either, getting better with age.

  • fucking great band live

  • a great song off a great album , primative man

  • this is pretty sweeeeet.

  • So i am LVL 51, I own 69 popularity points, 55 mil coins, and ive never ever cheat. If you happen to want to read the same exact guide i used, just simply go read it for absolutely free at beatcafeworldXcom (replace X with . )

  • the album is called love in motion in the uk and primitive man in the OZ

  • the year's right, the album ain't.

Song's on the album 'Great Southern Land'

  • @AneBanane73 in Australia the album is called primitive man, i think overseas its different.

  • @Jazzaaaaa1 okay, i see. Great album, anyway :) AND a great song.

  • I might speak for a lot - get my time machine and go back again and again

  • I'll go along with that! The music now is crap!

  • Man do I miss this sound and era. Ira you're the man ala Simon LeBon in this video.

This was thee song for about 3 monthes on San Francisco "alternative" radio. Never get tired of this song.

  • Is that Lionel Ritchie at 2:08 ?

  • Soundtrack for part of my life.

  • Can't have an 80s revival because it was built around the venues, the radio stations (commercial and public), the TV shows and the fans. Icehouse one of the few bands that didn't get worse with fortune and time.

  • great aussie pop/rock...dig it

  • Never dates Iva what a classic

  • eine genialer song! ein all time favourite!

  • suk it

  • @PrOsHuFf kiss it fruit cake

  • Hammersong! Solche Musik gehört in die heutige Zeit! Wir waren damals vermutlich noch alle zu jung... :-(

  • @Nefilas was bedeutet dieser hammersong?

  • Buena letra!

  • There's not a weak track on this entire album...one of the 80s finest.

  • oh yesssssss

  • Iva Davies is the reason why there is no Flowers / Icehouse music available on iTunes.

It's difficult finding anything in the record stores; was a rumour a while back that another 'Best of' was to be released. I have the greatest respect for Iva and all incarnations of his bands, but it looks like I'll have to try rescuscitate my vinyl records and tapes.

  • @enz9999 It should be available, as a matter of saying it should be. its great. Too good to be lost in the times. X

  • I shoot every damn liar (I mean lawyer). It was a a bitch just to get Man of Colours. Iva should just run at sever at home, and we pay him for his awesome efforts...There you go, real music. No label. ...just music

  • A friend of mine who was a DJ turned me onto Icehouse and this song in particular early on and I was hooked! I used to always listen to them in my car cruising with the top down. I'm listening to them right now on my Zune and they are still an awesome band! Boy do I miss the 80's!!

  • Why can one not buy their albums on Itunes? Can't even find them on Spotify? What is wrong with their record label or their current management?

  • I don't know the final outcome but Iva Davies sued the label and they there was a huge falling out and EVERYTHING was pulled from the market while the suit dragged on and on. I thin kit was pretty much the end of Icehouse along with other troubles but everything got really hard to find. I found all of my stuff that I didn't already have (cd's) used at used record and cd stores. All I had in the day was vinyl and cassette tape copies.

  • top song

  • the Australian Bryan Ferry !!

    great song

    great band !!!

    great period !!!!!

    80' forever

  • Not to criticize the Music Video theme but listening the Song alone you'd imagine a more romantic scene just like the "Crazy" video, Love themed songs and Video goes toghether. Icehouse Rocks !!

  • When I was little more than a kid. one of my group of friends emmigrated to Australia. When we saw him next several years later he brought wonderful things with him like stuff by this band with him and stories about the laughs he had had with his new mates. When he went back he took ours with him. It's all about hands across the world people, it's all about hands across the world.

  • I love this song! Haha joostisabelle I thought the same thing when I first watched this video in 2007! separated at birth at least:-)

  • 0:25 Fidel Castro

  • Damn!! Great song, loved it when it was around.

"everything ends at the street cafe..."

  • Aussie Rock really lost its way from the Mid 90's until now. Pitty we have to follow suit with the USA and UK being taken over by Pop. Bring back the 80's I say.

  • @sheebaridgeback And I would add the rest of the world. Same horrible music everywhere (pop music). What is wrong with the world???

  • @80srule4ever We're just getting old mate.

  • @cheeseboy777 Yet, I am getting wiser !!! And by playing my 80s music over and over I feel so alive and happy !!!

  • @sheebaridgeback Sorry dude, these guys were definitly pop. Aussie rock is The Angels, Rose Tattoo, AC/DC, etc.

  • @Warthogfan this tune is simmilar to the roxy music tunes from avalon which came out the same year, but i would never call this pop in a million years with a bass riff like that

  • @Warthogfan Those bands were real pie and sauce, washed down with a beer, whereas Icehouse were the full three course meal - with a complimentary glass of red. Apples with oranges.

  • gees that was amazing, reminded me of some of the john buchan novels

  • awesome with crazy and great southern land and icehouse myfav song from this great band

  • primitive man - the 2nd flowers/icehouse album i brought (actually a cassette so I could take it everywhere with me). loved it. I was in my early teens.

  • dam but i love good aussie rock

  • Excuse ignorance but was a kid at the time and only remembered Hey Little Girl and Electric Blue. Clicked those 2 recently after ~ 22 yrs and have got hooked on the rest since. What music, real 80s classics

  • Electric Blue and Hey Little Girl, if I remember correctly, were on Man of Colours, but yeah, perfect reason why 80's and 90's Australian Rock really did rock.

  • icehouse is one of the best aussie bands of all time, their video clips are so interesting

  • Icehouse they are the best aussi band with AC DC and Midnight Oil and Inxs

  • Men at work are way better than Oil

  • Thanks for posting. Love this one! I can remember seeing The Flowers at the Pier Hotel in Frankston.....must be nearly 30 years ago now...

  • anyone pint me in the right direction of trojan blue?

  • i cant find that one either.

  • Grossartiger Song! Gibt es die Australier eigentlich noch?

  • das ist die perfekte antwort auf ursache und wirkung des libanon kriegs von 198x.

  • simmilar to the stranglers golden brown video

  • Thanks for sharing this great song!

    Iva Davies

    Flowers

    Icehouse

    Aussie '80s music

    Russell Mulcahy filmclips...

a great way to spend one's teenage years!!

Iva still loves telling the story about that infamous flight home from the film location!

  • What happend on the flight? Thanks

  • Iva looks hot in this video...way better before he went through that mullet phase in the late eighties.

  • *****

  • One of my all time favorite bands. Very dificult to find musivc in US

Thank god fore imports but never could find the Olympic Song Mr. Davies wrote. Was this video shot by Russel Mulcahey as it bears shot for shot resemblences to Duran Duran's Hungry Like the Wolf.

    Thansk for reading

  • Great band, great song, great video, great times remembered - GREAT!

  • INot sure about the film, but this clip was very popular in Europe when released. The band had there stuff stolen on the last day of filming and had to fly home as they were. Great band and great albums, like others, I await the complete DVD collection.

  • Does anybody know, what film wass the basis for this video?

  • i think libanon ware 1982

  • Wow, I saw the video for this for the one and only time 25 years ago (aaargh), and thought it was mint. Great to see it again, It must have cost a fortune at the time! Always loved this song, only saw them live once (T&C London, 1987) and it was one of the best gigs I have seen, Aussie bands always rock!

  • One of my favorite bands--moving lyrics and extremely creative arrangements.

  • They had so many good songs in the 80s

  • Another "attic find"for me.today ........I remember buying this one !

    Still loving it

  • this was probably the best song i heard in the early-mid 1980s... certainly in as much as it evokes some very strange and emotional memories for me.

    nice to hear it again.

  • inspired me to return, and be with my soulmate.

  • I'd forgotten how much i liked this song. Thanks to Tara for seeing them in Sydney and reminding me of how good they were.

  • I love this song!

  • Man Of Colours might have been Icehouse's most successful album but I think the first 2 albums were the best ... Icehouse & Primitive Man.

I love this track ... my fave Icehouse song & a great clip.

  • Do they still make records?

  • Iva Davies has been working on and off on an as yet unreleased new Icehouse album for years but for some reason has not wanted to release it. A couple of tracks are here on YouTube ( Your God Not Mine & Big House).

Iva has also worked on theater productions and music for films like Master And Commander.
