Her actions are in keeping with the highest virtues of the American gun owner. She defended her property and safety of her family, but she also did her very best not to kill someone, who was albeit guilty, but nonetheless just a kid. We still live in a country that is rule of law, and now that punk will be tried under that law. Citizens being able to arm themselves for protection is a first resort, and killing is the last resort. This is why I am pro gun. An armed law abiding citizen used a firearm as a tool to defend their family, and property, She handled the situation better than anyone could ask a trained law enforcement officer to. If she had dialed the police and waited, she and her family would have been at the mercy of an armed robber until they arrived, and the burgler more than likely would have gotten away. Good for her.

Strict Constitutionalists might argue that self-defense was taken for granted in the Constitution ("Of COURSE Americans must have the right to defend themselves") and that the 2nd Amendment has a far more solemn purpose for keeping government in check.
