AWESOME LESSON, please keep the lessons difficult. no joke just started the piano about a month or so ago, and started yours lessons about 2 weeks ago. Anyway I love your sense of real humor. Thanks for speeding up the process of learning this thing. cheers

  • you're the maestro.....

  • You are the Sherminator.

  • This video is fine but it's too confusing for me

  • @Lypur Andrew, how come it takes so many years to learn piano? that's very discouraging! I really, really want to learn, because I'm going to be writing my own songs and theme musics, so I don't want to be a concert pianist, but I want to be in your words, "really good." So far, I try to play an hour a day, and at least keep it to 5 hours a week, no less than that for sure. So I'm curious: how much did you practice when you were learning piano?

  • Just came across cool piano learning device in Gizmag

    Google “gizmag pianomaestro”

  • very good videos thx!

  • very helpfull.. all d video of u.. thanks!

  • whats ARCT

  • what grade are you in piano?

  • ARCT.

  • hey thanks for the lessons you have cleared up some questions that have been haunting me for a long while. As a predominantly self-taught musician I'd say you've done well and you didn't move too fast for me ...so I guess what I'm saying is don't slow down yet... Keep up the good work and THANKS.

  • hey ive just started watching your videos- they're great youve teached me alot. just one question- how long should it usually take for someone to be really good at piano by taking regular lessons?

  • really good? it mainly depends on your definition of really good. really good to me is a world famous concert pianist like Lang Lang etc. but if you just mean playing all the levels of piano, then you can expect that to take anywhere from 4-15 years depending on your determination and ability :) It's a lot of hard work, but well worth it in the end.

  • what are u talking about 5 3 2? huh?? i dont get it

  • those are finger numbers :) like pinky=5

    middle finger=3 pointing finger=2

  • LYPUR i have a question.....

  • Dear Lypur, Im so happy I found your lessons :) They are great and they really help. I always wanted to learn piano but I couldnt have a teacher :( You are a great teacher and I have learned from you a lot :) Anyway, congratulations for your lessons they are really great :)

  • aww thank you so much! i'm glad i can help

  • that was fast,i really taught i wouldnt here back n-e-thing for awhile. its good to know that you respond so fast. i guess it makes it more real. you know one on one. so far so good you, teach well and your sense of humor isnt that bad keep it up,makes the lessons more enjoyable. how long have you been playing for?when did you start? whats your favorite piece?all i have at the moment is a decent keyboard, sucks huh. but i can always learn the basics on it,cant I?like you said its a emotionkiller

  • yea I reply fast sometimes, other times slower. ^_^ I've been playing for 16 years, I was 5 years old. favorite piece is probably chopin's e minor concerto.

You can still learn on a keyboard :D sometimes you just gotta make due with what you have!

  • wow! i just found your tutorials and there pretty cool. i'm on lesson ten and its very interesting what you've done so far i think you have like a hundred videos or something here on you tube. great job! the two most beautiful sounding instruments in my opinon are the piano and the violin. i guess because i could always feel the emotion coming out of them the most.my parents could never afford to pay for lessons when i was younger now at the age of 27 i still would love to learn. thanx

  • you're welcome! glad i can help! yes those are my two favorite instruments to!!!!

  • i wanna learn classical songs :)

  • i think i love you

  • i think we all do

  • You're great man. What an awesome thing to do. Sometimes you're camera is kinda shakey which makes me dizzy, lol, but in the end its well worth it. Bravo and keep up the good work!

  • hi,

i've made it till here in 2 days, but my wrist is hurting so much. Is it normal? Is it because of a bad posture or only lack of wrist excercise??

by the way, these are excellent lessons, thanks for you time!!

  • becareful! if your wrist is hurting., or you're experiencing any real pain you should take a rest ^_^

  • Thanks, i took a rest and i'm now better and ready to continue (ps: i am now able to play fur elise!! so proud;) )

  • Thanks a lot for this nice lesson...and happy springtime

  • i seem kind of lost..... what are scales again? :c

  • are you kidding? if not message back I'll try and explain :)

  • In simple terms a scale is 8 notes from one note the piano to its next repetition. E.g. from C to C and all the white notes in between; c d e f g a b c you start on C and end on C. The C major scale follows a pattern of tones and semitones, in order to maintain the pattern when doing other scales you need to add in sharps or flats, apart from a minor scale as if also has no sharps or flats.

  • well just to clarify it's technically 7 notes but the C is repeated in the C major scale, but I said 8 to make it simple.

  • WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIKKKKKKK ya h6f!

  • GOOOWANNNMAAAA YAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • do u have elastics on ur braces. if so, just know that ur voice isn't heard properly because of it

  • i did yea

  • you said "you probably dont wanna learn something like this", then u played something classical.

i would love to play that

  • I know.. Me too.

  • this is getting interesting. I know you hate synths, but I played these chords on my synth and it sounds awesome :P Thanks

  • You're awesome. :D

  • Dude! Thanks so much for your time and effort putting together these lessons for us.

  • you're welcome ^_^

  • I've been playing guitar for a while now and I just picked myself up a nice (touch sensitive) keyboard for christmas for composing purposes mostly. These lessons (particularly this one) has been great in order to work on the finger techniques and such, as most of the theory isn't considerably new.

    Thanks ^_^

  • good lesson Germinator!!!!

  • i dunno why but this makes me laugh. good video otherwise.

  • I am searching out the lessons I have not seen and this one was very helpful, thanks!! You do need to have an understanding of scales, but everyone should anyway. Don't dummy anything down as many of us are adults, so I appreciate your lessons...thanks again!!

  • you're most welcome! ^_^

  • is that how you make something sound really fast? like... in chopin's prelude 24 i think in d

  • yup:)

  • i love arabesque!

  • thanks alot!

  • ahh ur amazing. thanks for the help!

btw u have the cutest laugh. Just thought I'd add that in there.

    :)

  • aww, well thank you ^_^ it's nice to know my laugh isn't annoying!

  • this lesson is so hard...:(

  • aww don't' give up, they weren't made to be mastered in one view!

  • I won't:P Thanks, you are doing a great job teaching and I've already learned a lot!

  • sorry i think i get it now..the half of arpeggio of c you played after the first 4 notes was to get the nice ending sound to that piece...

  • you got it ^_^ smart tinkerchel!

  • so for dominate 7th you go: 5th note of a scale, 4 semi tone up, 3 semi tone up, 3 semi tone up, then add the first 4 notes of the arperggio played together?

  • than why the heck are you watching? that would be like if you're a Pro athelet say in the MBL and than you sign up for lessons with a little league coach, and flip out at him:P get a life dude:P

  • no one could own him,

    i bet u suck ass

  • thnx for tha lesson...their greAT!!!!!!!lol

  • good lesson for those hoping to learn more about chords and their progressions, most music stores now have chord charts and progressions that are most commonly used to compose

  • jajajaja you are a funny teacher i LIKE it

  • Thank you for the lesson! :D

  • your welcome

  • hi i know it aint xmas now but ho ho ho lol the diminshed 7th and dominated 7 th is soo much easier than that cicle of fifths thing but i have been teaching myself for half a year so i dont know much about theory but your a really good teacher

  • thanks i appreciate the nice comment ^_^

  • i would like to learn that classical piece!!^^

  • How long are you playing the Piano?

  • about 15 years

  • In the Age of 20?!?

wow.....i began to make Music (melodica^^) with 12.....

  • thanks for the videos....by the way you look like josh groban...

  • question how do u play em together?

  • once you've mastered them seperatly, then you put them together SLOWLY

  • ~~

    oo 0 8o

  • To figure out the chord tones dont you just play the major chord in the scale and add the last note?

  • ill watch this again some other time to understand

  • o and btw i need help on left handed keys and left hand placement... im right handed thank you

  • i gave all ur lessons ive watched a 5/5 but if i could go more id go 1000/5

  • yeh! there goes his Woohoo thing!^_^ its been a while since i last heard that from you! haahaa!

  • I just notice that you love saying "Woohoo". It's kind of funny the way you say and react. But, I like it. Thank you so much for these video!:D

  • Thanks for the lessons.I am a self-taught pianist and I have had difficulties playing arpeggios before your video.

  • Nice lessons, thanks!

Maybe you should get a tripod for your camcorder ;-)

  • i don't even have a camcorder, it's just a cheap digital camera...except it broke awhile ago...i tired shooting video's with my webcam, except the sound keeps cutting out, so i've got to wait until I can buy a new digital camera

  • i would like it if you tought us to play "right now" by van halen

  • Andrew, I have been watching and learning every lesson from you. I also take private lessons and I find your lessons very very helpful b/c they reforce what I've learned. You are a very good teacher Andrew. Please keep posting more lessons. I truly appreciate your kindness in taking time off to provide truly free piano lessons. You seem like a very pleasant person to be friend with. If you ever going down under, give us a call we will host you. Sam Brisbane- Australia.

  • wow! thanks alot for your comment! That's a really nice and generous offer! If I ever plan on taking a trip down there, and you're on the way I'll be sure to stop by! I'm planning on posting a few more videos soon, i've got another 4 in the making!

  • I meant to re-enforce not reforce...sorry...i am sure you know what i mean...

  • My brain hurts. Its not your fault too..Its my fault..I never practice and just watched all of your videos.I cant remember them in my concious mind but my subconcious can remember it coz thats how the human mind works..

  • Not exactly. The concious mind is primary, and the subconconcious mind is secondary. The concious mind is the state that actively seeks out new information, the subconcious mind merely retains said information, but does not utilize it.

  • andrew?

  • yes? do you know me or something?

  • jo thanks for your lesson my fingers are soft now^^ not like those robot finger i had.

  • those 7ths rules! Thanks for spreading the christmas cheer. Keep smiling:>
