A good place for non pro drummers to audition huh?

I've been playing on an electronic kit with a D4 and acoustic cymbals for awhile now but just snagged a Mapex M Birch 6 piece with Evans G2s on the toms and Aquarian Super II on the kick for (guess how much) and I plan to make a video of one of my fav drum tunes Brick House.

I have an electric drum kit, but I really wish I had a real drum kit. Although, I do have to admit there are some things that I like that an electric has that a normal kit wouldn't.

What pros/cons has every1 had for both an electric and real drum kit?

you can turn em down and they take up less room. i dont have one and strictly speaking im not a full time drummer. i can play enough to fill in for our drummer when he is ill. he used to have a yamaha somming or other. quite an expensive on i do beleive. talking of which . what is a reaaaallly piss cheap electric kit. preferably able to shove a double pedal in there to. cheerz matt.

A really really cheap electric kit u can find is made by a company called Wesbury if u have ever heard of em. Not too bad for sound, great sensitivity and triggers, and works great for double bass. hope this helps!!

with a real kit u can get different sounds out of each drum/cymbal without fidlling with settings :)

Well i'd imagine for an electronic kit, it'd be way easier to haul around and you won't piss off the neighbors.. you could probably play whenever you want.

But the endless settings and tunings for acoustic sets are things you can't get with electric sets. I'd prefer acoustics all the way. The electric sets are fun but you can't do as much with em, and you need to buy ports and crap just to plug in new cymbals or toms.

I have an acoustic for jamming and performing and electric for personal practice. It's hard to tell which one i like more.

Electric pros:

Many sounds - one kit buys you many, Quite to practice, loud when you need it (sound contol). Small, easy to transport (but not to set up)...

Cons:

Cheap sets sound fake. Not always reliable(prone to technical difficulties) mistriggers(2 hits instead of one, or non at all)

Acoustic pros:

1 drum has many different sounds you can make

Spikey, you kick ass. I wish more people on here would talk about drumming, as opposed to commenting on your shirt. Your flying fingers helped sooo much. It took me about 4 months to get it right, and up to acceptable speed. Now I'm outblasting my peers. Also, your drum fill (that metal fill with 4 strokes on toms and then 2 on BD) really helped. i really wanna post one, possibly something by chimaira, but i have no means to record it. all i have is my phone, and phones aren't exactly great for recording drums, there might as well be no such thing as a bass drum if i use the phone. any suggestions as to how i can affordably record stuff i do, while being able to differentiate between the snare and the bass drum in the recording (ie. half decent sound quality)?

This is another video I feel like sharing, I've been working on trying to cover this song, but I have a hard time crashing and muting my right hand crash and hitting the floor tom in the beginning, moving like that is kinda difficult. I try to mute with my thumb, index, and middle finger to get the most mute, I squeeze a stress ball a lot to build up my ring and pinkie finger strength as well as my ability to hold on to the stick when I crash-mute. Hope this helps with crash muting
