  • it doesnt matter if you use your or you're because people know what your talking about. who cares about which one you use except grammar freaks.

  • @friendlykorean1people butchering the simplest of words that were taught in elementary school is what's freaky. Generations are getting dumber and dumber.

  • @omgwtfbbqalekx If that's true, how do you explain all the technological wonders we have? Internet, cell phones, I-pads, mp3 players, the list goes on and on. Maybe the dummies in generations are getting dumber, but the smart people could be getting smarter.

  • @friendlykorean1 I was generalizing when I wrote that comment, it doesn't apply to absolutely everyone. However, I like your example. I think technology is partly why some of us are getting dumb and lazy; we have devices that do all the dirty work for us.

  • I'm getting more and more frustrated at the ever growing pile of dumb people using these words wrong. Most of the time its people writing "your" wrong in a sentence. Every once in a while some smart person *person trying to be smart* attempts to use "you're" in a sentence where it doesn't belong... I think that pisses me off even more.

  • "ALERT THE POLICE SOME GUY SAID THE WRONG VERSION OF YOUR'"

  • @rowin09 Well, damn. If you can't get two simple words right: you're and your, go back to Kindergarten

  • @036827 ''Your right''? Ironic, right?

  • @036827 ''Your right''? Ironic, right?

  • @036827 ''Your right''? Ironic, right?

  • @036827 *Not sure if serious or not*

  • It does not take a 6 and a half minute video to explain which one is which.

  • i hate it when people do this...

  • you're whiteboard looks smart, but your stupid.

    jk:)

  • This really does annoy me when people use insults like "your stupid" like really.. and people think it's not important.. I try to point out their mistake but they just say "you know what I mean" You're and your have two different meanings. So yes, it is important that you do spell these two different words correctly, or else you just look stupid. I'd suggest everyone would view this video.. it could teach alot of people things they should have known by atleast 2nd-3rd grade maybe? I don't know.

  • Looking at your atrocious grammar tells me that you probably never finished junior high. I'm not surprised since it's hard to focus on school when maternal duties come at the age of 11 or 12.

  • @036827 "lol your mad, chill man" wtf is a mad?

  • i hate those fuckers spamming "your" instead of "you're" ....

  • I love when a person says that I'm an idiot and they use the wrong your, like "hey, your an idiot n000b!!". I just reply with "oh, irony"

  • If you're older than six years old and can't use these two words properly then you're a fucking idiot.

  • @justinkatz441 +5000

  • /watch?v=iaz0iduXhws&feature=related

    look what daniel28213 wrote.

    EPIC!

  • @schmui what i find even funnier about it is the fact that the only one who noticed is german.

hehehe. zets vots eqtchully reelie epik

  • @036827 My funny what?

  • @MickehDaHuskeh

    Your being trolled.

  • @coerce1 My being trolled? Huh?

  • @MickehDaHuskeh

Oh I see how it is. Now your trolling me.

  • @coerce1 My trolling you?

  • @coerce1 "you're"

  • This should be required viewing for anyone wanting to leave a YouTube comment.

  • @036827 My retarded what?

  • @036827 My being an asshole what?

  • @036827 Our all stupid what? Explain.

  • It's good to see that other people on youtube besides me know the difference between the two words.

    We are in the minority.

  • @CarlChub Thank you

  • Omg. This pissed me off so much. Wtf are people to comment on other peoples grammar? Like "wow you're so dumb, you can't even spell "you're" right" Pff, they think it makes them look smarter! xD

  • Good, now I can send this to all the mindless fucks that I encounter every day

  • Comment removed

  • same goes for lol and hahahahaha

  • I just corrected someone on another youtube video on their misuse of you're and I was attacked.

  • @Aussiegirl265 - Please don't let that bug you. ` Just keep telling them what's right...even when they don't appreciate it. ` ☺_.

  • I love when I call someone out for making this mistake and they get all defensive and actually try to DEFEND the error, or call me a "grammar nazi". If you tell me that 2+2=5 and I correct you am I a "math nazi"? Sorry dumbass, but I am not a "nazi" anything, I simply graduated from high school.....legitimately.

  • @036827 I hope you were trying to be funny, otherwise you just showed a lot of people what an IDIOT you are

  • Pretty much everyone my age (this teenage generation) gets these mixed up. And every time I say something about it, they get so defensive. Yeah, how dare someone tell you that you're speaking your own language wrong T_T And I don't correct people for the sake of being a grammar nazi, it's so I don't see that mistake all the time and become an illiterate dumbass as well. It's simply a selfish request.

  • @036827 nou.

  • @036827 trolls be trollin'

  • Haha, America's people make me confuse. I try to argure with an American(He said he is an American) about you're and your. He said''you're description is longer than you're video'' and I was like, You are suppose to use your not you're. He ask me which nationality do I have. I said I have Thai and then he said. Your not American like me so STFU. So I was very confuse back then. xD From now on I think I will stick with the british xD

  • @036827

    You're not Your

  • I'm sure many foreigners are better at telling the difference between "your" and "you're" than many American kids. English is not my first language, but I cringe every time a native speaker gets this shit wrong! But in Sweden (my native country), many native speakers don't know important differences between certain words. Such as the words "de" (they) and "dem" (them), both are usually pronounced "dom" (see Google translate for pronunciation).

  • Your: possessive. You're: short for you are.

  • Holy shit, only retards would say "YOUR STUPID" or "YOU'RE MOM IS SO FAT..."

  • If I were this lady, I'd be yelling at the camera xD These stupid grammar mistakes always annoy the hell out of me.

  • Also.. 5:16. FAVOURITE! IT'S -FAVOURITE-!!!! ARGHHH!!!

  • @Liolar43 I should have known a British person would go nuts over this. She is America, and uses the US English. Favourite is used in the Canadian and British English. You SHOULD know that. She even says so in the video.

  • @Liolar43 *American... DAMMIT! Dem typos...

  • @Liolar43 FAVORITE is the American Spelling. Watch the fucking video to the end and she explains that she used the American spelling, and even writes down the English one.

  • What I find pathetic is that people in their teens are still having to learn this stuff. Not boasting, (it's not boast-worthy) but my grammar was perfect when I was six. T__T

  • As much as I despise people who are unable use you're correctly, I find it entertaining. Random moron:Your gay. Me: My gay what? Someone needs to be re-educated.

Wow, it's like the Stone Age all over again. =D

  • @francisgaribayABC re-educated implies that they were educated to start with, which is obviously not the case with todays youth

  • Your very helpful. I hope to see more of you're videos soon.

  • @coerce1 You have terrible grammar.

  • @LlamasInYourCloset

    Relax. I was joking.

  • @036827 My making fun of you what? That makes no sense!

  • @036827 My stupied what? And what the hell is a stupied? It's stupid. It's you're not your. Even a preschool kid could master this. And who said anything about playing keyboard? I sure didn't hear anything about that.

  • @036827 My a dumbass what? Lol... I'm guessing that you should have never been given a keyboard.

(this comment was used to defend MickehDaHuskeh)

  • @036827 FUCKING REALLY. REALLY. REALLY?

  • Comment removed

  • It gets on my nerves whenever I see "your" and "you're" mixed up, same with "there", "their" and they're." "People bring there loud kids into restaurants" makes me think, "People bring where loud kids into restaurants?" "Your a jerk!" = "My a jerk what?"

  • @036827 My right? Do you hate when people do that? Is stuped over there? I didn't know.

  • All those dumbasses seem to make this error lately. It really pisses me off. "LOL YOUR STUPID" and i'm like "Look who's talking."

  • I go on Facebook and someone says "Your retarded". Cracks me up every time.

  • Person1-*bullshits*

    Person2-*explains*

    Person1-Shut up, your dumb.

    Person2-...ironic.

  • Comment removed

  • 5:16 - disgust.

  • it took 406 seconds to explain this... my nan could do it in 10

  • back in my days people still could tell difference between "you're" and "your" . And any 3rd grader whose 3rd language was english at that point could correct this in instant, but next generation of kids just disregard this, even if their native and only language is english. I am not surprised anymore of anything... modern society employ on dumbing down next generation.

  • Jesus Christ, I don't fucking understand how people mix up these two words! Next time I see someone mistaken "You're" for "Your" or the other way around I am going to go midieval on their ass.

  • @m3talcorps3 you spelled medieval wrong

  • @gdb5444 Thanks for the heads up.

  • In days of yore 'your' was 'thy'.

  • People typing your when they should use you're goes through me.

  • Hey rebecca madam, i see you're wearing your favourite[british] top again :D

  • Most people on the internet (especially/specially the 13 year old boys) need to watch this video.

  • Americans are getting dumber...

Everywhere I look, these American kids can't even distinguish between

    'your' and 'you're'

    'to' and 'too'

    'there' 'their' and 'they're'

    you get the picture...

A 5 year old knows this shit.

  • @bilalha123 This annoys me the most about Americans as well...

  • @bilalha123 Not all Americans make those mistakes.

  • @typhlame95 Of course not. What i'm saying is that the general conception that I have is that this shit doesn't gte taught in school, seeing as an insanely large portion of kids (mostly American) can't spell words as simple as these.

  • @bilalha123 Yeah, it does get taught in schools multiple times, but most people (at least in my school) don't care enough to learn that, and it sickens me.

  • @bilalha123 Your generalizations hold no weight until you can prove to me that ALL Americans make this common mistake. This is a mistake that everyone makes, not just Americans.

  • @Niggamancy

You're dumb, even by American standards.

It's a generalisation, if it applied to all Americans, it wouldn't be a generalisation, it'd be a fact.

Your comment makes no sense, try again.

  • @bilalha123 It's spelled "Generalization" I even wrote it in my previous comment. I believe you're the dumb one if you do not notice that. Ignorant pompous fool.

  • @Niggamancy

Pardon me for not using the dumb American spellings of certain words, i'm not an idiot, you see.

Instead of getting mad about it like a child, why not educate yourself?

    What a clown, LOL.

  • @bilalha123 Apparently you are an idiot, for you say "the dumb American spellings of certain words". The dumb American spellings eh? Oh well, no use in arguing with someone as ignorant and close-minded as you. Goodbye.

  • @Niggamancy

Why? Is it because you know i'm right? Dumbass redneck. :)

Stating that the 'English' version of the word is wrong isn't close-minded? Looks like you're using words that you don't know the meaning of, and it shows.

  • @Niggamancy You almost had him, except it's "closed-minded". ;)

  • @ToolVGM Damn, heheh, thanks.

  • @bilalha123 you should have capitalized the I in i'm by the way

  • @bilalha123 actaully, many americans , on the internet, just dont bother with the correct grammar and spelling of what they write. That doesnt mean most people lack the knowledge. be alittle less prejudice.

  • @Aspartan3

I lyk totali dunt bover wit da correckt gramor n spelin eithur.

  • @bilalha123 you should go and put a pistol in your mouth...

  • @Aspartan3

LOOOOOL! Why are you getting so mad?

The world would benefit a lot more if you did it to be honest, it would result in a higher average IQ for the whole world population

Congratulations on conforming to the whole dumbass redneck stereotype there son. It gave me a nice laugh.

  • @bilalha123 i wasn't aware that i was conforming to any sort of stereotype, but i can asure you i live in a north eastern suburb and in no way shape or form a "redneck". Besides Sterotyping and prejudice isnt a good virtu, mabye thats why your so alone.

  • @Aspartan3

Meh, I was just making an observation. It's really funny how you started bitching though, you must be on your period or something.

Maybe if your parents weren't siblings you wouldn't be missing a chromosome or two, but hey, i'm not judging you.

I was obviously joking, there's no need to get defencive LOL!

I think you should watch this video by the way, education will help you with the rest of your life.

    Sad little attention seeker :L

  • @bilalha123 why dont you go back to your days of lonely masturbation instead of conjuring up unorignal insults.

  • @Aspartan3

Have you ran out of dumb comments? They really made me laugh. :\

Here's a tip son, don't try and start arguments with people who are obviously smarter than you, especially when you have no legitimate points to make. You just get laughed at.

    Hillbilly cunt LOL!

  • @bilalha123 Im not dumb or you "son", im just not a prejudice jealous fuck who needs to vent his anger over the internet because he does not know of any other way to take out his sexaul frustations. The fact of the matter is your just a smug uninteresting peice of shit human being who prides himself over his extensively proof read comments that, from the looks of it, spends his entire day thinking up of. any body whos dumb enough to say "hillbilly cunt!" doesnt deserve to have the internet.

  • @Aspartan3

You're visibly upset. I'm sorry that I made you cry, son.

    Sexual frustrations? Lol what?

Are you trying to come onto me? Does your sister not satisfy your needs you hillbilly?

Instead of trying (and failing) to insult me, how about you get yourself an education so you can make some legitimate points.

In the mean time, i'll continue to laugh at you. :)

    Yeehaw.

  • you're videos are awesum kep them up

  • YOUR vids are really good. You're very good.

No seariously your and you're is a easy rule. A bad speller (such as me) knows the difference.

  • RWJ fanboys should watch this!!! Seriously

  • @93bendzsi Why?

  • @93bendzsi They always make these mistakes, you should see it :D

  • @93bendzsi indeed, hi five.

  • This is a result of the declining quality of education. So many people misuse these two words and get upset at me when I try to correct them. I don't correct them trying to be a smart-ass, I just find it to be basic grammar.

  • _Proper spelling doesn't begin in school. ` Proper spelling begins at home. ` ☺ You are = you're. ` Your book; your house; YOUR welcome?? ` Yes, MY welcome, indeed. _*L.O.L.* ☻_

  • 98% of youtubers are little American kids who got bad education. If they want to evolve their, "language", then go for it. But the whole world learns English through America, so do them a favour by teaching them English! not American AKA Broken incorrect English

  • @ayoopdog The whole world doesn't learn English through America.

  • aw sounds same like you are..

  • THANK YOU

    THANK YOU

    THANK YOU!

FINALLY, somebody more intelligent than a 3 year old on the internet that knows their grammar! I mean, seriously, is it REALLY that hard?

  • I find it hysterical how many of you are up in arms like "People are so pathetic if they don't know this!" and "People need to see this!" And I bet most of you are the same people who bitch that "This isn't English class!" when you're corrected on your spelling. I do know the difference between the two, and I use them often. I just would like to point out, none of you(myself included) are perfect. Get over yourselves.

  • @Blarggle who knows?

  • this friend belongs to you :D

  • your my favorite

  • thanks teacher

  • THIS IS MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE. I seriously cringe every single time someone uses the wrong your/you're.

  • I think the pronunciation should be slightly different to help distinguish the two words.

"You're" should sound more like the actual contraction that it is and should be pronounced more like "YOO-wer" and "Your" should be pronounced like the way in this video which is more like "yor."

  • You made my brains messed by your teachings you're so werid or something

  • It's obviously made for foreigners. If you learn english through the internet and many people do this mistake through typing too fast, you may have some trouble with knowing what's going on with these two words.

  • I learned this on my own as an 7-year old Swedish kid... I was fluent in English after one year of watching English shows in the morning, with Swedish subtitles...

  • @K4inan Inget illa menat, men det ska vara "a" när förta ljudet är ett konsonantljud och "an" när det första ljudet är ett vokalljud. T.ex a house, a european, a rotten egg. An englishman, an excellent job.

  • @TheMooseofBattle Skrivfel, ungefär som när du skriver förta istället för första =)

  • @TheMooseofBattle Det finns också en skillnad mellan it's och its.. Its colours are beautiful, it's not your book..

  • @K4inan Okej, då förstår jag. :)

  • It's so embarrassing going through youtube comments reading "your stupid."

  • Ok, you fucking retarted shithead YouTube commenters, I’M ONLY GOING TO EXPLAIN THIS ONCE SO SIT YOUR FAT ASSES DOWN, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND, PAY ATTENTION. YOU’RE means YOU FUCKING ARE, as in “YOU’RE A LAZY FUCKING BITCH-ASS WHORE.” The fucking apostrophe is standing in for the letters you took the hell out of dodge, you idiot. YOUR means BELONGING TO YOU, as in “YOUR ASS IS MINE, BITCH.” DO HUMANITY A FAVOR AND DON'T BREED PLEASE.

  • @SilentFlame111 I like your teaching style. You're definitely a lot cooler than my 4th grade teacher.

  • Do I have your permission to mirror this video on my channel? I want to spread the message so I don't get idiot kids making this annoying mistake all the time.

  • I can't get over how many kids today (under-34) who make this mistake frequently. I read things like "your dumb" or "your stupid". Who's really the "dumb" or "stupid" one, the one who isn't even using the proper word, or someone for voicing their comment? I think you know the answer!

  • If one is posting comments on YouTube, they better already know this! lol

  • People who misuse these words irritate me to no end. I think about 98% of people on youtube or the internet in general don't know the difference.

  • @Doyledeth so true, so true!

  • I'm from Finland and I actually find it rather embarassing that I have better grammar than most Americans and British people, and of course whenever I point out their "your" spelling error, they retort by saying that it's easier or faster to just type "your" instead of "you're". Doesn't change the fact that it's still a spelling error though. *sigh*

  • Remember Strong Bad's Rhythm & Grammar:

    Y-O-U-R

    Y-O-U-apostrophe-R-E

They're as different as night and day

Don't you think that night and day are different?

    What's wrong with you?

  • This is one of the things that completely boggles my mind. It's like some people intentionally switch "your" and "you're" around. I knew the difference since 1st grade...

I'm Asian and speak two languages fluently, yet kids who only know English completely fail at it. I'm also 16 and don't attend any schooling. It really says something about today's "education" system, when grown men are so illiterate.

  • Wow, you really need to draw attention to this video all around the web because so many people seem to find it incredibly fucking hard to grasp this very simple concept and it pisses me right off. The next time I see someone use "your" when they should use "you're", I'm going to give them hell! It's understandable for foreigners to make this mistake but when native English speakers can't even use these words properly, I just find it laughable.

  • It's not like it's difficult to remember though, it's basic and it annoys me when people for whom english is their first language cannot seem to use correct grammar for something so simple.

  • I can't believe that people make this misstake!

  • for me, seeing your instead of you're is like fingernails on the chalkboard.

get it right you "IM'ing," "facebooking," "tweeting," "friending," defriending surrender monkeys

  • @operationcwaI789789 Can't understand what you say !!! (;;), A lot of foreign people such like u, speak E in a really really stupid way (for me) to get understood

  • @KoOlEmO91 Sorry, I didn't have the priviledge of learning "E" from an "E" teacher in a public school in a fluently "E" speaking country like Vietnam. So, bear with my "stupid" and "foreign" deficiencies while I try to be sarcastic and humiliate you for the moron that you are.... EEEE.... ha ha ha :-D

  • @operationcwaI789789 WTF, That comment is not mine. So sorry for that, May be someone had used my lap and given cmm. Oh my...

  • your video very good

  • good teachar rebaca

  • good teacher rebaca

  • lol i've never maked that mistake. and i'm not even from an english speaking country. but i've seen sooooo many people make that mistake

  • @ECST4C You liar! You made that mistake when commenting on the Hypocrisy video I uploaded.

  • @MrJoshuaSalway1990 i did? well would you have a look at that! i guess i'm not always that strict when it comes to spelling

  • I can't count the amount of times people on YouTube use that error, and I'm kind of surprised there actually exists a video like YOURs. Thank you, I will favourite this video and feature it on my channel to make sure YOUR teaching doesn't go to waste. YOU'RE a great teacher. Thanks again.

  • Your , and You're are the greatest word to correct people on, makes them so angry.

  • @666lolwut My favorite thing to do to those who insult someone using "your" where "you're" should be used is "my BLANK what?". Such as if someone says "your stupid" you can say "My stupid what? Finish your sentence". It befuddles them at first and eventually they realize the mistake and say "oh, I misspelled you're, YOU'RE stupid" and then it's time to hit the home run, saying something like "If you fail to see the irony of this exchange then it's obviously not me who's stupid".

  • It pisses me off so much when fellow Americans mix up homonyms!

  • It's amazing that this video will be more useful to native English speakers than to people from different countries where English is not the main language.

  • @Koseiku Yeah, it's absolutely pathetic. I can only attribute that to the immense influence of "textspeak" and the incessant need to take as little time and effort as possible when typing messages to friends. God forbid these idiots should take an extra few seconds out of their riveting social lives to spell properly.

  • ‎"you can see that when i said them they sounded basically the same. but, they are very different." basically..lol ‎"to see if in fact you can differentiate. if you can differentiate means, if you can tell the difference."

I was watching this video to send it to my friend because the wrong usage of this word is really annoying. Well, I realized not only is this lady funny without even trying to be but she is talking like everyone is an idiot. The sad part is, some people really are that dumb.

  • People who fail at this are so irritating... especially those who are english

  • English people should watch this :-)

  • Can your repeat this I did not understood this quite well? Thank for you're time.

  • this needs to be a andatory video for people to watch immediately after joining youtube

  • PLEASE TRY TO USE SAID HOMONYMS IN A SENTENCE. for instance...Your tits are not that fucking huge and you're a whore. You're a fucking martian. I would love to skull fuck your brains out you fucking cunt. Or maybe, I would like to fuck you in the back of (your) ice-cream truck and you('re) going to be passed out while i fucking do so.

  • @alwaysadjacent2love Sad, you're but funny. I hate laughing at shit.

  • Great! I'm glad your doing you're videos. Your teaching the public, I love you're videos. I'm kidding! I do like your videos and you're doing a good job, Thank you.

  • an & a

  • This lesson needs to be taught to Americans whose first language IS English. Every day on Twitter, Facebook, or here on YouTube, I see the word "your" routinely take the place of "you're". It's pathetic.

  • Yeah Goddamn I hate it when people make the mistake.

  • only dumbasses don't know the difference

  • This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Using "your" in place of "you're". Pisses me off.
