Hey everyone, it's me , Jeff (the guy on the left). Sorry about the distortion. It is pretty rough. Thanks for all your comments. I posted a video response- the video w/lyrics for my song "Chasing Rain" which is the single from my first record, available now on iTunes. Check it out and let me know what you think! Cheers.
James and Jeff great job ! If anyone would like to learn to play Layla or any other rock blues tunes with Jeff's guitar teacher James Pamplin please contact us !
Nice playing. try to work on the tone a bit for next time, there's a bit too much gain. I'd love it if you checked out my version of this song too, (its my feature video) and let me know what you think too.
I could find myself liking this if there wasn't so much distortion.... the rhythm is good, and the two guys obviously have talent. Its well done BUT the distortion is a pain... literally.
There is nothing wrong with the distortion if you look up "layla live" here on youtube the first one will be eric clapton and in his live version he uses more distortion but he doesn't overdo it. However I don't care for the rythem guitar it makes it too "funky"
the distortion is what made it sound more unique. you have too listen more to fully hear the song. i loved it and would not have liked it more if you had performed it any other way. Perfect to in every inch of the song!!!!!!!! Lovely!
Hey everyone, thanks for commenting and for all of your positive feedback. Just thought we'd let you know that we have a new video up, check it out and let us know what you think.
yo man this is great a few endings sounded a little off but maybe it was cause of the slight key or speed shift but its awesome man keep up the good work
thanks man. i would like to help you out but this isn't tabbed... i just play. the guy playing rhythm taught me and except for the signature "Layla" hooks and lead lines i'm just soloing.
i have a mexican deluxe players strat that I love. i had to look around for a bit but if you keep your eye out you'll find a good mexican strat somewhere
im just trying to learn this and i was looking arround for some good covers. this is impressive. the jamming in the verses is awesome and sounds brilliant. extremely good job =] well done
fucking awesome. im learning this but i love your jamming through the verses, and the solo. could you please please please please give me tabs? i would be forever in your debt!!!! pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase

i would but i don't use tabs, least not on this... sorry. but there are some good ones out there, friend of mine has the Cream of Clapton songbook and i believe that the tabs for Layla in that one are true to the original Derek and the Dominoes take...

duane allman played on the Dominoes' album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs as a sort of guest player. He did the slide work on the outro part.

he did the slide on the entire song, dude. the intro is him too.
