The only question to ending the so called "illegal occupation" is "how?" The Israelis did not choose to be in those territories but have done so as a defensive measure to preventing suicide bombings and rocket attacks on civilians. Israel wants to end it too but they fear that withdrawing military from the areas will leave them vulnerable to terror attacks, so the Palestinians have to prove some way that they won't attack if Israel withdraws.
