the thing that interests me about serial killers is, how and what made them into what they are and what state of mind they were in. the absolute insanity from some of the legally sane ones just makes it more interesting, this does not mean however i dont think that its fucking disgusting. torture should be legal.

I haven't watched the whole thing, but the whole story seems sort of fishy. It's not unknown for police to feed information to attention seekers who'll gladly take the blame for crimes they didn't commit.

I seriously doubt that was the case with all his murder. Sure, he did kill some, but killing as many as claimed goes into Henry Lee Lucas territory, and we know how that discredited the Texas Rangers as an organization in the end.
Authorities in Lopez's home country aren't known for their respect of the word or law or forthrightness with the press. It reeks of police wanting to wrap up cases and pinning the blame on an easy culprit.

I don't believe what his mother says. I also don't believe that his father was a politician.
It seems more likely that his mother was a prostitute with lots of kids and she was abusive. Lopez was born during La Violencia, so he probably witnessed people being murdered.
Lots of serial killers were the sons of promiscuous women; Manson, Carol Edward Cole, and Henry Lee Lucas for example.
