As for the controller style, Gamecube is the easiest, for me. But the Nunchuck/Wiimote controls are fun, too. Playing with the Wiimote sideways is alright, but not something I'd pick as a favorite. And I've never touched a classic controller, so I can't tell you how that is, but one of my friends uses one and he beat me singlehandedly.
Finally, I figure out what in the world that attack does! I never knew that it was a reflector, I always thought it was just a weak attack as opposed to something useful.
You have to be real fast and have a lot of control over the air. Lag prevents people from escaping most of the time, but really good jumpers like Kirby and Jigglypuff can sometimes make it out.
I have nothing against Jungle Japes and Big Blue, but I can´t help, but cry inside when I am placed there (I click random) especially with a bad character, but when I was placed there with jigglypuff, who is usually bad for me, it was much easier and I ended up winning so you have a point.
On another note, these two stages are Ike's worst nightmare, worse than moving stages or transforming stages. The moment he gets hit off the stage, it'll most likely be a KO because he has poor air control.

Nayru's Love? Yep, it's a deflector. You can attack with it too to annoy people, but it works much better as a deflector.
