This song has multiple layers of symbolism in regard to Scream. On the one hand, it advises not to "fear the reaper," and Billy Loomis, of course, is the "reaper" of Scream. There is a deeper profundity, however; note the lyrics that say, "I'm your man." Part of Scream's storyline is that Billy was Sidney's "first time," and to make another connection between Scream and Halloween, some have speculated that Michael Myers represents the virginal Laurie Strode's "elusive man." Interesting.
