VIKKI CARR - Those Were The Days & With Pen In Hand

Astonishing how much emotion she puts into a song (With Pen in Hand). It's so rare for anyone in popular music to have a powerful voice like hers, and the skill with which she uses it is just wonderful. Very difficult to put the 'tears' and heartbreak into the voice without going way off pitch. The only other non-operatic singers I can think of who were capable of this were Connie Francis and Brenda Lee. Vikki Carr is just wonderful. I only saw her live once, in 1994. What an experience!

Just saw Vikki sing "With Pen" only 15 days ago at one of her shows in California. Wow, she still sings with the same passion, tears and all.
