I'm working on putting together a tab of this song for an art project using your video. ill be sure to post up a link to possibly a pdf version of the tabbed out sheet music. Thanks for the clear fingering!
@thebansheeman I play bass in a GD cover band, and I tabbed out this bass line. This video is THE accurate note for note shiznit! Phil just switches it up a bit here and there as he sees fit but WTF he's Phil Lesh. It's easier to learn the basics when you see someone else do it than to go it by ear, so to all the Loser's (love that song!) that want the tab, you need to tab it out for yourselves. And, BTW, Phil Lesh ALWAYS plays with a pick. (Not that you need too...)
Hey dude, thanks for the note, but I don't do tabs, I play by ear, If I can hear it, I can play it. Just keep watching the vid and you should be able to pick up on a lot of it. You can do a google search and get the chord changes for the song also.
Great Bass playing! Judging bay your equipment you must really know your stuff. You even have the Phil Lesh hair and clothes. Gotta love it. Keep on rockin brother!
Your choice of bass line favs. parallel mine pretty much as, The Music Never Stopped is right at the top with Alligator, and my all time Jack casady line is The Other Side of This Life. I knew some of the Quicksilver guys back in the late 60's when we all lived in Hawaii, and around 1970, I sold Dino Valenti my SG Less Paul Gibson guitar, after a concert they played in Long Beach, Ca.
Thanks for the comment, and yes Phil is incrediable on his bass. The first time I heard the first Dead album in 67, Phil just blew me away, and I said to myself that day, I will learn how to play my bass like that.

This is the visual tab! If you must have a tab, then transcribe if from what you see. You can see every note he's playing (expertly). Very nice!

SWEET! Thanks, I think most of us needed help on this song, so hard to hear all the intricacies. I've loved this song since I was like 10.

I use D'Addario half rounds when I can find them and RotoSound when I can't get the half rounds. Light gauge on both.

NIce! You obviously "study" Phil the way I do Jerry...
So...does Phil's choice of notes and sense of rythem blow you away? Not just talking about this song...
My favorite bass players of all time...
Paul McCartney, Jack Bruce, Jack Cassidy...and now you!
