  • DA 2 was.. idk so fast paced .. no tactics imo.. characters weren't as intresting as Origins.. Can't change party customization, Can't create a different race, you can't tell me i'm wrong ? Origins was far better in Characters and party customization.. and combat i'd prefer origins!

I don't know maybe it's just me.. but imo BioWare went from making Origins best RPG to DA2 my least favorite.. maybe that's just me.

  • The only problems that I had had with Dragon Age 2 was the lack of companion customization, I mean the reason they gave for that was because they have free will. The recycled dungeons, but i guess thats rather common. And also I kinda resent how they turned Anders from a sarcastic and funny guy, into an emo, whiny rebel....

  • why that bitch leave me when i said i gonna help Avelin first :(

  • DA:Origins ost better :/

  • hey hey hey ....wait!! the girl is black .. right she is blach why here she is wihte??

  • DA2 was a GAWD-AWFUL sequel to DA: O and DA: A.....A retarded, dumbed-down button masher with constantly repetitive screens and endless FedEx quests. This is the 2nd most disappointing game I ever played; next to Homefront. This opening theme is one of the few pleasing memories I had of this game.

  • @blackandgold978 People like you are just douchebags who are taking their frustrating of the fact that RPG's are changing altogether out on Dragon Age 2. It was a fantastic game, the story was incredible, the only point is that the old WoW-stylish RPG games are over. That day is gone and this is the introduction to a new era. There was no button mashing, only if you were a noob who didnt take combo's and skills into account. And if you didnt, you really should go play Runescape.

  • @AkuranTynai Did I ask you, Sir Jacksoffalot? Go back to your mommy's basement, dumb ass......

  • @AkuranTynai No you don't understand, its not a fantastic game. Its boring, has no interesting characters with the exception of Varric and the forced romances are just ridiculous. What do you prefer? Anders hating you or loving you? Not to mention the braindead combat in which you had to aoe everything down, the recycled environment and just overall worse graphics than the original game. This game deserves no more than a 6/10, what a shameful sequel.

  • @Fritsie93 Where is the forced romance? Like really, I dont see that. And I find the characters pretty interesting. Merril was funny, Aveline was a tightass and Varric was a badass.

  • @AkuranTynai With Anders it's basically, either you fall in love with him or he will basically ignore you/hate you for the rest of the journey. The rest of the characters were just too goddamn bland/boring compared to the companions of origins, only Varric was actually well done.

  • @AkuranTynai Merril was only funny but not too interesting, Aveline was as dead as a door nail, Varric... Okay Varric was pretty awesome, Isabela was only truly relevant when the Qunari were starting to get really pissed off, Fenris was a wanabe final fantasy character, Bethany was not to interesting, Carver was fantastic and I really wish I played a mage the first time just because of him and Anders... Fucking bioware you force me to keep him alive, due to gameplay not because I want too.

  • @AkuranTynai How did Dragon age 2 have an incredibly story, when there was no bloody story?!

  • @bloodmercs Let's pretend that nobody unchained a war, the Qunari didnt invade, you didnt go on a deep roads expedition, you didnt flee from the blight, you didnt pwn a corrupt templar and an insane mage and the chantry was DEFINETELY not blown up.

  • @AkuranTynai All of it disjointed and thrown right out the blue, the entire first act was just a series of side quests to get money to go to the deep roads, then the entire second act was more side quests untill right at the end you have a qunari uprising that then ended and again nothing more came of it, then you had the mages getting pissed at the templars and then bioware realised oh shit we have to release this game soon quick throw in the ending. The entire game was rushed.

  • @AkuranTynai Another thing that annoyed me was that the first enchanter completely out of the blue just goes, oh fuck it I will do some blood magic or if you side with the Templars the Knight commander goes, oh fuck it I will just go insane and kill everyone, Another year would of probably made this a great game as they could of put a solid story into it and imrpove on the rather stale characters, but I think EA forced them to release it early and cash in.

  • liking the little bit of darkspawn music influence in from origins however origins theme is 100 times better:)

  • To be honest, i think everyone just wanted another copy of Origins, and were disappointed by a different story. There's only so many times a story can be good vs evil. DA2 was more of a personal epic and felt much more real, something i could relate to. And i could laugh at more snarky remarks than just Oghren and Anders in DA:O. I love both of them, but i hate the treatment the 2nd one gets. If it was rushed, which i admit kinda was, then they did a good job in my opinion.

  • @charry300 I agree completly! :-)

  • Definitely not Zur's best work. He even said he had to rush the Soundtrack because of Bioware, so he has definitely done well with the time given.

  • in the 2nd game, lots of RPG elements got lost because the producers were focused on the PS shit! DA:O was absoulutely better with all facts!

  • @TheGurtha DA:O was the singular worst rpg experience I've ever had - yes. EVER. Dragon Age 2, while mediocre, was infinitely better than DA:O.

  • I find DA2 was more focused on the development of characterisation of Hawke and his companions; creating emotional emphasis between player and character.

DAO was an epic tale about a Grey Warden filled with epic adventure and epic fights! Making it awesome!

In conclusion: DA2 was a great 'emotional successor' of DAO but without the epic-ness, that is why DA2 is not as exciting as DAO. According to me, of course.

  • @Kaisnan You hit it right on the head. DA2 is a personal story. DAO is a worldly epic.

  • @Alteonify I found that its what a lot of folks miss. Thanks for supporting my observation. :)

  • inon zur... that genius...

  • I understand that DA2 wasn't the greatest of games, it had it's share of weak points AND strong points. The same with Origins. Great game, doesn't really compare to DA2 in some ways, but excels in others.

Can't wait for the third one!

  • Who is that bitch pretending to be Isabela?

  • Awesome song!

  • I honestly couldn't remember if I had completed Dragon Age 2. I actually just checked my XBLA achievements and saw that I did but cannot remember anything about the ending. Dragon Age, Origins, on the other hand, I can remember the night I completed that I was on the edge of my seat for a couple of hours straight!

That sums up the difference between the two games for me. One was unbelievably memorable... The other, not so much.

  • I liked the story in DA2, I felt more like an actual person because I didn't know what would happen next unlike DAO where you have a clear goal that you know you'll achieve. Although I would have liked more environments and the option to converse with my companions.

  • DA2's story was fine, the pacing the big problem.

  • anyway how goog or bad DA2 may be, the music remains AWESOME!!

  • DA2 was ok, its just not good enough for an origins sequel. the biggest mistake theyve made is the decisions, that leading to the same thing. i liked the game in other things tho... origins is just better

  • DA2 have better special effects and its easier to play, DAO is more realistic i think

  • DA2 wasn't that bad, It's only bad compared to DA:O

    DA2 is still a good RPG :)

  • The most praiseworthy features of Dragon Age II are it's colourful characters,

(loved all of the companions, unlike Origin's where I only liked four), it's more smoother and faster combat mechanics, soundtrack and it's simplicity in item and ability organisation.

While it wasn't as epic in story as Dragon Age: Origin's, those features I just pointed out make it stand out as a great game.

Having your character talk makes it feel more personal in my opinion.

  • hehe DA2 improved where DA;O was that great at,but then it also removed that which made DA;origins great!! still DA2 is an awesome game and I love it :)

  • Dragon Age 2 theme>>>DA:O theme, but DA:O as a game is better

  • i never played DA:O only jus polayed DA2 and i loved it :D now it looks like ima have to get DA:O

  • @awsemodude364798 origins is a much more epic game, imo...also has slower combat that doesn't make your enemies explode into chunks.

  • DA:O was better, but II is still masterpiece...

  • At least the protagonist actually talked in DA2. I couldn't get into Origins because I couldn't take the blank-stared, slack jawed, and mute hero seriously at all.

  • @ASocratesGoneMad4 then it means you didn't play Half-life at all :))

  • everytime i turn on this game i jizz cos of this song

  • People take it too far when it comes to not liking this gae. I think the 2nd game was awesome and badass, it just needed a more improved story than just making a name for yourself, repel the Qunari, and start a war that spreads throughout Thedas.

  • @ShadowVampireFTW and dragon age 3 has you trying to stop that war and focus on the Tevinter and darkspawn, perhaps lead by flemeth.

  • @ShadowVampireFTW This game sets the stage for DA3 or DA4 just like origins set the stage for DA2 as well as the upcoming game. But I agree with you this game has some amazing benefits over DAO, but the story still not AS exciting as DAO.

  • @ShadowVampireFTW A continent-wide civil war ISN'T ENOUGH for you!!?

  • Comment removed

  • @BetaJackMaxis No!! I want my Dalish Warden, Hawke, and my new DA3 hero to have the greatest challenge in mankind!!!

BRING ON THE BLADES, BLOOD, DRAGONS, DEMONS, ARMIES, DARKSPAWN, AND MORE EVIL

  • DA:O is much better. MUCH. I was very disappointed in DA2.

  • @EveryoneWantsYou Yeah DA2 came of as being very boring actually.

  • That Isabella....is so bloody ugly....sigh.

  • @GuardianCore Old model.. New one is much.. cute

  • People are often whining about DAII.

I tend to disagree: DAII is a fantastic game, better than most these days. However, as a sequel to Origins, it lacks, as Origins is still better.

  • DA2 has alot of flaws.

The music is not one of them.

  • From what I gather from the end of DA2, DA3 will be intense!

  • DAO's combat was more slower, but storyline in DAO was epic, characters and locations were more intresting.

  • @JonnyReim Yeah in this game you only stay in a city most of the time and copy and paste locations to places you've been to before only changed slightly... I didn't even feel anything for Hawks family when they died. Complete bore for me

  • The soundtrack to this game was fantastic. Overall the game was fantastic. Not quite the same feel as the first game. Would've probably been better as a spin off title but it was definitely amazing fun and had a gripping story.

  • Da 2 is better on combat view but on story line and quest DaO is better.

  • @obliviondouble i agree there if dao had da2's hack n slash effect it would be way better

  • How could they make such a great original then fail so badly with the sequal. Makes no sense!

  • Combat in DAO was mediocre, while DA2 combat made me LOVE SO MUCH BLOOD

  • At first i thought that there was no way there was going to be a third but then i finished the game now im having second thoughts

  • selbst bei den allerbesten videos gibt es immer welche die einen daumen runter geben ich versteh dass nicht

  • DA2 is not bad continuation but boring and not exciting scenario

DAO was better longer with awasome stories

i wants to be grey warden!!!

  • @lurgiPiech hey i think that u r right about the short of the game but trully u should reconsider these: the new style, the new way to take us to the main story, the more interesting way of talking, the new way of fighting, casting spell and of course this is just a small beginning at Kirkwall which will lead to the bigger story in Free March so the world can't be too big and a little limited, based on those i don't think the game is boring, man ;)

  • @lurgiPiech

I don't understand why people prefer the utterly cliche story of "Ancient evil is returning to devour the living world" and "You're a new recruit to an elite order, and also our only hope".

I found the internal politics of Kirkwall, the conflict between mages and templars and one mans struggle to survive and provide for his family to be much more interesting, not to mention more personal, than the whole darkspawn end-of-the-world bullshit.

  • @khatack Indeed. The worst part of Origins was the story. I also liked the characters in DA2 more. Overall the writing team did a much better job with the sequel.

Shame for the copy pasted areas. If they had puit more time in this game it would have been brilliant. Good thing they won't repeat their mistakes when making DA3.

  • @Fredvdp

At lest someone agrees with me. I find it astounding how often people criticize DA2 for the things that actually are good in it, and how often they fail to recognize the true problems in the game. "I didn't like it because I didn't get to save the world" seems to be the most common of misgivings against this game.

  • @lurgiPiech And you had to slog your way through the gameplay to GET TO the story. AT least in Dragon Age II I ENJOYED getting to the plot points

  • DA 2 wasn't so bad...it was good but also a little mediocre...DAO was better

Hope they make DA 3 as good as DAO experience-wise

  • DAO doesn´t have Isabella, so that´s make DAO2 much better :))))))))))

  • @9TurnbiT9 lol you just proved you haven't even played DAO. Because if you did you'd know that Isabella is in the brothel in Denerim and with certain text options, you can have a threesome with her and whoever you have as your romance option at the time. (She's also the one that can teach you to be a duellist)

  • @CloneByDesign If you have Zeveran and leliana its actually a foursome

  • @IskHope :|

  • @CloneByDesign I recognized her almost right away, but she looks sooooo different than what she looked like in origins. Then again, pretty much everyone looks different to how they did in origins.

  • @Crashandburn999 Yeah, the only changes that I liked more were the changes made to Flemmeth, Merill and Isabella... and perhaps Anders... he kinda looks the same as he did in DAO: Awakenings.

  • @CloneByDesign err, merill? i dont remember a merill in origins. What part of the game was she in?. I only just got the game 2 days ago so still not finished da2, but from what i've seen only anders and bann teagan look the same.

  • @Crashandburn999 Merill is in the Dalish Elf Origin Story. So the clan she comes from is the same one the dalish warden comes from essentially.

  • @CloneByDesign ohhh yeah now i remember. She's the keepers apprentice. That means that clan from origins (from the dalish origin story) is the same one sitting just outside kirkwall then, right?

  • @Crashandburn999 Yeah.

  • I liked DA 2. It could have been better had it not been rushed but I loved the story and the atmosphere. Kirkwall was an oppressive powder keg. I loved Hawke (the blank stare warden was kinda meh..). Both Origins and DA 2 have good parts and bad parts. Albeit DA 2 could have been better with some little tweaks but to call it rubbish is kind of exaggerated.

  • @RakshaDaemon

I agree with you completely. DA2 may not have been everything we hoped it would be but, when you really think about it, what game is? It was an amazing game that I wouldn't mind replaying.

  • I have played both Dao and da2. The only problem I had with da2 was the story. Too much is thrown at us at one time and it makes things confusing. Would have liked to see more locations than kirkwall, sundermount and the wounded coast. But I do enjoy the combat better then sitting there issuing "tactics" in dao.

As for the pc gamers>>>console gamers? Aside from wow and sc2 no other games are making any noise for the pc.

  • Inon Zur should Inspire himself more on what he made, years ago, on "BALDUR'S GATE 2: THRONE OF BHAAL"

    do you agree ?

  • I always loved the first 46 seconds.

  • Awesome music for a good game. Obviously it was nowhere near as good as Origins, but still a pretty decent game.

  • kommt echt mittelalterlich rüber : ) welt geil !

  • i don't get it! dousn't Isabella got darker skin? :O

  • @rakimion

I'm pretty sure this was an earlier concept art. They ended up making her darker.

  • DA2 would have been so much better if they bloody didnt rush the game out of the door with its crappy wave of enemies and reused map. Oh plus the music isn't as epic as DAO.

Overall an ok game but definately below the bar DAO set, ill admit i do like Hawke and the better hair options but thats about it for the game, its sick of fighting wave after wave and seeing the same exact location the entire game.

  • @isurugi DA3 is already confirmed for shit. It will follow Dragon Age 2 rather than Origins... too bad though DA could've been it's own game series instead of Dragon Effect....

  • @Fritsie93 I have a feeling Da3 will be better since this game got so much negative feedback. Unless Bioware is retarded and makes 3 similiar to this one. I still think this game is decent though!

  • @thunderpeeweea Yeah well, its already confirmed that DA3 will follow DA2 more rather than the hardcore Origins.

  • I loved the soundtrack, even though you only fought in kirkwall. I still enjoyed this game, I also liked how you could take previous data from DA:O

  • i hope DA3 is more open so i can leave fucking kirkwall or wherever it will take place

  • 0:45 the tipycal dragon age feeling... :D

  • i love this soundtrack and the game

  • mmm...Isabella...nom nom nom...

  • Yes, DA2 has been a big disappointment at most. But DA3 is going to be more like DAO and the story will probably involve Morrigan. Moreover it's not sure that DA3 is going to be set after the end of DA2... I mean... what happened outside the Free Marches during those 6 years? Let's dream for the moment.

  • @Vihljamsson

    **Spoiler Alert**

Judging by the words of the few Grey Wardens you meet in DA2, there's some serious shit going down. Enough that they'd ignore a Qunari invasion completely, just cause it's that serious. Still, though, all of the mage circles simultaneously rebelling? Given how powerful and feared magic is, that's like the biggest event in thousands of years in that universe, regarding humans.

  • @Vihljamsson

  • Inon Zur did great musics since Throne of Bhaal, but in itself, the game was dumbed down.

  • The soundtrack is the only redeemable thing about this game and that's too bad, it lulled me into a false sense of security. I mean for a moment I was actually fooled into thinking I was going to play another excellent RPG from Bioware, how foolish of me!

  • I think we can all agree that in DA:3 that the main character would either be the champ or a companion of the "seekers". The storyline would probably escalate into the Tevinter Imperium, Perhaps the Main char would even be the Warden you used in DA:O which would be interesting to see as well.

Anyways, I personally think the story of freedom is the main theme for all the Dragon age series, and if thats the case then elves slaves will be involved in the 3rd Dragon age series.

  • i love the dwarf

  • i love you fenris !

  • I love Anders

  • i love the seeker

  • isabela is hot

    Just sayin'

  • 10 darkspawns dont like this music

  • @krustypenus Excellent, thank you.

  • Hey, may I ask you all, is DAII worth the money to buy it?

  • @russianbear0027 the story is good, every conversation will change the course of the game and what the people say so ... it is really worth^^

  • @russianbear0027

In my opinion, it absolutely is. 40+ hours of gameplay on normal difficulty (if you explore and do all quests).

+ the dialogues and the story are pretty awesome. Oh, and not to forget the romances ;).

  • @Destroxy Well, it's more like 30 hours (+ - 1 or 2) on normal. And yes, I've pretty much done every quest.

  • @Rykanable

My first playthrough took me 43 hours on normal, I went through all dialogues without skipping, always checked every area for items and did almost all quests.

The second one was finished after 32 hours, also everything searched and quests done, but some dialogues skipped (+ already knew what to do of course).

  • <3 female hawke with big sword :D

  • I love DA :D

    Isabela <3 :D

  • DA:O FTW!!!!! Even though I love Da2, DA:O is so much better.

Companions in DA:O You talk to them when ever you want.

In DA2: Talk to them once or twice every year

  • @cooldinox81

Yeah. I guess Hawke's a bit of an antisocial or something.

  • DAO >DA2..

    even theme wise :)

  • The soundtrack for this game should've been more repetitive. As in there should have been 20 different versions of this theme! It's unfortunate that this awesome song is barely heard in the game and the rest of the soundtrack is mostly meh.

  • I prefer Morrigan over Isabella...ANY..FUCKING...DAY. Seriously, at least Morrigan was flirtatious without the whole Slutty appeal and actually survived a GOOD purpose in the storyline. Plus she was like 10,000 times more useful. Always had her in my party, and she always dominated the battlefield. Hated Isabella's whole 'ITS MY FAULT EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING PRETTY MUCH" thing. I actually wanted to kill her -.- Anywho....

  • I don't really understand how people don't like DA2. I know the majority likes it and the vocal ones are always the negative minority, but still. It wasn't a terrible game. It had humour, a good story, fun combat, character development, and cool animations. Maybe it wasn't as "good" as DA:O but I find DA2 has much more re-playability. and @avatarion. Being a console gamer doesn't make you any less of a person. Some of us can't afford high end PC's to run newer games.

  • @Nightshadez

There's nothing to argue about, both DA games miss something when compared to Baldur's Gate 2 or Planescape Torment. Personally I enjoyed even DA2, but let face facts, game itself doesn't give everything you would expect from such a visionary developer as BioWare, let's just hope Mass Effect 3 will raise standards once more.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nightshadez THIS. This x 100. I haven't played Dragon Age 2 yet (I have played the demo.) but Origins just had way too many pointless, long, levels (like entering the Fade.) and the bosses are near impossible. Which pisses me off. DA 2 ooks like i'd be able to play it more. I'm struggling now just trying to finnish Origins for the first time.

  • @Nightshadez Yeah, It did have some replayability, but DA:Origins was more of a game for myself. I loved the extremely hard boss fights, ridiculously long dungeons(though YES the fade was long at first, once you figure it out it took me like 5 minutes every play through), and yes the animations as well. I played ALL the downloadable content and realized that DA2 wouldnt be nearly as good as DA:O after playing the demo. BUT the fighting is MUCH more invigorating. + A Main Character Voice. FINALLY

  • FFXIII Lightning stance YEEAH!

  • I couldn't be with Isablla, I don't need my Hawke getting AIDS or gonorrhea.

  • DAO is more epic..Thumbs up if you like lol

  • @TheGurtha i agree.... if only they could have the same battle system in DAO though.

  • @gusivago You are sooo damn right!! Each & EVERYTHING of that game was PERFECT!! Characters,Atmosphere,Emotions,Animations,Lots of BEAUTIFUL cities,Story,Character customization, replay value etc. There were only 2 flaws with DAO.The graphics, mute character & the boring combat system.DA2 improves over these flaws but falls short at everything else! Don't you think?

  • @TheWitchking123 I agree but we also have to remember the story of DA-II is no where near the epic scale that DA:O Was, In DA:O you were gathering an army to save the world, While DA-II You're really just living a pre-thought out characters life.

  • @TheGurtha No way DA2 is the better

  • Comment removed

  • Then you never play DAO.....because this can say only who dont play DAO yet

  • @TheDaglers i played DAO but for me DA2 is the best the reason is because i felt like i was Hawke not just playing him and the other characters are more like family to me but DAO i just felt normal...

  • @DemonDragonWarrior It is already comon sense that DA 2 sucks, just look at metascore USER review and compare it to DAO

  • @eusouocarameuirmao i have my review people and that is IGN i trust me cause the rate hard and fair so... i go by them

  • @DemonDragonWarrior then you really don't know better cause they rated DAO with a higher note.

and one their "Top 100 Modern Games", DA:O is in it, while DA2, isn't.

  • @TheGurtha

    Yup. DA2 should've been better.

  • @TheGurtha I play DAO when I am in the mood for a story filled adventure. And DA2 when I just want to beat the crap out of stuffs. :)

  • @RlyehianAncient yeah me too bro. And i suppose everyone does that way :)

  • Isabella is hot

  • Dragon Age 2 was good/decent but could have been better, Origins was heaps better maybe they'll make the DLC's for DA 2 really good

  • @1337Tazer dragon age origins was better...but the ending to 2 was decent and it practically announces a sequal at the end which i think would make it a great game, cant wait to see what they do

*stares at the screen for hours after this message is posted...*

  • DAO theme was better

  • i hate Merril... shes being naive on purpouse, its stupidity not "cuteness"

she has nothing compared to Tali

but from DA2 i like Isabela the most, shes just too funny xD

Alistair drunkard with "swoopings bad"... damn this phrase got realluy famous

  • Could I have some salamanders please?

  • I still think the better soundtrack is the one Leliana sings in the campfire, the atmosphere and the song was a perfect blend. Damn can't stop thinking of it.

  • Why the fuck is Isabela's skin white in this picture?

  • @SquallLeonhartRoX Cause you can't have a non-white female heroine on cover/advertising...much like how you can't have a non-white male as the main protagonist in advertising/movies/etc.

  • @SquallLeonhartRoX

i would rather say why the hell Isabela's skin isnt white in-game ? i mean in Origins she used to be quite white

  • @CsRazeel

Well, as what Isabela and Alistair said, everything changes.

If you want facts, well, Isabela's Rivaini. So expect her people to be dark-skinned. Duncan's mother is a Rivaini, if you don't know.

  • @gurezurei "Well, as what Isabela and Alistair said, everything changes."

The problem is, except for the clothes, she doesn't look anything like Isabela. The skin isn't the same, and the face is definitely different. I can accept some change, but unless she's been staring into the Mirror of Transformation, this isn't just a "change".

  • 1:09 makes me wanna buy a new sound card

  • @nmls999 not me :D

  • Mages rocks!

  • Trés beau jeu mais c'est dommage qu'il n'y a pas une petite séquence où les deux héros se rencontrent.
