  • Lol I'm like a master at chipping reads I squeak really loud and everyone hates me for have and suggestions please reply 🎺

  • I've always heard hot air for sax and cold air for clarinet. But then again, the guy who told me, what could he know; after all he's only been playing for 60 years or so.

  • You begin by using a size 2 reed. Well that's what my band teacher started me on. Now I'm on 3 and a half. Vandoren V12 reeds and I love them.

  • squidward :)

  • 73 people cant put their clarinet togather XD

  • i play trumpet so this is diffrent but not hard i knew all this already from my sister -she played the clarinet C:

  • dont you need to hold a certain key. in a certain part of clarinet assembley

  • For a beginner its better to start with a 1 or 1 1/2 reed, not 2 - 3 :O

  • @Bruntern90 no the ppl at the store where i got my reeds said 2 and a half to 3 is for beginners

  • I need to tell u something... I know how to play

  • @DOGLOVER1320 if you do, you don't need to watch this.

  • Thanks for this - I was given a clarinet for Christmas but no instructions, thanks to you I am playing my new "toy" straight away! :D

  • I used to play the clarinet like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.

  • @leebrundrett1 dint you say that about a lot of instuments?

  • @leebrundrett1 i have seen these a lot and i don't get the arrow in the knee jokes. could you plz explain?

  • *diffeent teachers

  • For everyone who is arguing about what reed you need to use different say you should use different reeds so just listen to them.

  • You did it wrong/bad when you put the upper piece/joint and the lower piece/joint together you should hold the buttons on the upper live so they don't scratch or scrape and you should have told us/them when you put the reed onto the mouthpiece you should see just a little bit of the black over the reed other than that it was ok

  • your a hot elementary school teacher.

  • While breathing. Also,if it just stops playing, you're not blowing fast enough air or your fingers aren't keeping closed on your keys well enough.

  • @maya...if you're just running out of breath, you'll jut have to increase your endurance when breathing. Just make sure you are taking a deep breath, and don't move your shoulders

  • I'm just starting to play the clarinet at school as a grade 6 student and i have to complete a task.. to keep a fluent c chord for ten seconds and i find it very hard i keep running out of breath or it stops playing. What am i doing wrong??

  • Ur not suppost to jam together with ir hand on the bottom like that or it will brake

  • it isn't working

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH

THE SECOND I TRIED AFTER U IT WORKED

MAN U ARE AWESOME AND ONCE AGAIN THANKS

  • This surprisingly helped!!!!

  • @justinxxxbieber001 yes you should try size 2 you are probly using 2 1/2

  • @themanbehindthemagic i learned how to play and now im really goo chech my vid out well when i make it

  • are there different mouthpiece sizes? cuz my reed seems too big for my mouthpiece

  • took me 20 minutes to produce a sound. i read in my book that you need the "cold air" and NOT the "hot air".... what is right??

  • how long does it take for someone to make a sound i still cant make a sound

  • @H3N23

me neither it just sounds like im blowing into mid air

  • @H3N23 for starters dont bite it

  • To pawsup12385 use a gentle cleaning cloth and polish specially for clarinets

  • i have had my clarinet for a while but i don't know how to get fingerprints off of it. help

  • i think the clarinet is the best

  • I have d ability 2 play d clarinet but i dont ave any now wat wuld i do.

  • how do you put your mouth on it to play? because I AM TERRIBLE!

  • i know how to put it together i got a book and it teaches you how to put it together step by step

  • how the hell do you blow cold air?

  • i've just started and my teacher gave me a 1.5

  • Start with a 3 reed...that's too hard.

  • Ok when I started clarinet, 2.5 was the softest reed available. And it was fine.

  • And the "cold air, warm air" is quite controversial. Warm for Sax for sure, but can be cold for Clarinet, more players use "cold", than "warm", but even the concept of warm, cold air can be debated to even exist.

  • START ON A 2, not 2.5, and for dang sure never, ever a 3 to start. Top teeth touch, not covered by the lip. See my page if you want to see a 5th grader with a solid embouchure (mouth position).

  • Uhh, BRIDGE KEY!

  • This is my poem

Ginger ale and a bottle of wine

Ginger ale and a bottle of swine

Ginger ale and a great big pine

Ginger ale and a watermelon rind

Ginger ale and what's with this lime

Ginger ale and I have some slime

    AND PROFESSOR PONY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

  • @C09100

    Agreed. :)

  • 21/2 - 3 for a beginner? I think it is best to start on a 1 1/2 - 2. 3 is too hard for a beginner

  • I like the skull in the background, I want one of those skulls!

  • InflatiblePalmTree

    Not only for Alto Saxaphone

  • @JMAN09071

I have been playing clarinet for a year. If it sounds squeaky that could be the reed usually if you are a beginner you start if with a #2 reed and half way threw the year you move to a #2 1/2

  • @msthecommenter08 #2 1/2 is used for Alto Saxophone -__-

  • PLEASE HELP! I got this new clarinet (Bb) and i CANNOT get a good sound out of it, just extremely high pitched sound. I've been into music for almost 5 years and I've never had this much trouble... also, I'm on a 2 1/2 reed (new) so idk what the problem is.

  • PLEASE HELP! I got this new clarinet (Bb) and i CANNOT get a good sound out of it, just extremely high pitched sound. I've been into music for almost 5 years and I've never had this much trouble...

  • first you put the ligature, then you put the reed couse you have bigger chance to destroy the reed

  • if playing hte clarinet is just as confusing as putting it together

then damn i should pick it up, ill be martin frost in 15 minutes.

    i play hte oboe.

  • i needed this XD. Cause in school we R playing the clairinet and i cant even get a sound and he is trying to Grade us on A Song!

  • I Play the basson, so......

  • Pues para llevar quince años tocando te suena extraño... tienes un sonido rarito. Hay que hacer más notas largas!

  • you first start with your balls..............

  • For beginner I recommend one and a half for a two. Don't try two and a half or three for beginners....

  • i cant get a noise i jst get a air sound help me!!!!

  • @peacegirl489 Bottom lip, curled round your bottom teeth, needs to squeeze the reed slightly to get a sound. (only gently) Can your instrument definitely get a sound? (ie with someone who can play trying it)

Is the reed thin? (1½, 2 at the most) Thick reeds are dificult for a beginner to get a sound from.

If all this doesn't get a result, maybe take up the piano!

    Good luck!

  • @peacegirl489 fast air, and i get 2½ reed

  • she likes it in her mouth

  • 2:35 ehh, try again lady. your left hand goes on top on ALL instruments accept guitar (which even then, most people to play that way,) and percussions since technically there is no top or bottom section >_>

  • @tijuanamarisol666 She said WOODWIND INSTRUMENTS.

  • @woodricks ik, i'm saying: it's not unique to woodwind instruments to put your left hand above the right >.>

  • i have a clarinet but its a bit dirty. i cleaned it but only some got off.

  • If you guys wanna play clarinet, you should listening to Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw!

  • @edwardconway27 that's a no-brainer

  • @ragereleaser1 Yes, but in order to do so, you need cork grease, which is very hard to find in NY.

  • @ragereleaser1 thats not wat i heard

  • Mmmmmhhhhhmmmmmm sure say what ever you'd like

  • @ragereleaser1 ur mother

  • did she really say to start on a 3?! everyone i know starts on a 2 at most, i am in 10th grade, playing since summer before 7th grade, and i am just now at a 4

  • thats a gigantic ligature

  • WHO DOSNT NO HOW TO PLAY THE FLIPPIN CLARINET

  • @FlippingToes Alot of people, son. I'm a Violin and Upright Bass player and clarinet is pretty hard for me,not playing a wind instrument.

  • @ragereleaser1 perv

  • who the hell blows out cold air? you'd have to be dead to do that lol..

  • @bluelover404 If you close up your throat it blows out cold air.

  • My music teacher plays the clarinet

& almost everything he says sounds dirty, too!! xD

  • youre a noob.

  • @st0nerrxkx u no wat shut the f up man ur an asshole like ur mom

  • @sdsrocksable COCK ASSSSS!!

  • Thank you for posting . Very helpful for everyone, even parents helping out. :)

  • ur hands r ugly...

  • @ABCnormalperson1 meanie

  • @BKAPINKI hey no offence... gosh 2 year old calm down...

  • Wow i can tell for sure this turned me on ...

  • @ihateuutube

    hahaha lol

    XD

  • Holy shit tht was dirty

  • Little trick when you put your clarinet together. Press the left hand rings when you hold the upper joint to put it with the lower joint, and avoid pressing the right hand rings during the operation. It will help you not messing up your bridge and its cork.

  • when she was showing us how to put it together i thought that the nexxt piece would be my cock :P XD

  • Do I know you??? Oh yes! ExpertVillage)))

  • oh god, if it takes days to learn to play the clarinet it looks likes im screwed this tuesday

    for the music test T_T

  • I alway thought reeds nr 1 1/2 were soft. 2 1/2, 3 strong medium. but it depends on your MP, if its very flat you need stronger reeds.

  • well i play the piano and the guitar. i have a clarinet that was my cousions and i want to play it so i can be in band. i need to know how long the reed should be, can some one please help me with this?

  • @m6mkk If you neet some reeds, you just need to know what type of clarinet you are going to play. So you need to go to the shop and to tell salesman 'I need a reeds for a b-clarinet(for example)' Reeds are standard. Then they can be soft, medium and strong (or numbers like 2; 2 1/2; 3; 4.....) The higher number is - the stronger reed. If you're beginner, you need to start from 2 1/2. Buy one and you will see if it's soft or hard for you (actually it's more like soft) Thats all, i think :))

  • @JazzVanSwingman thank you so much

  • you have to sit at the edge of your seat that is what my teacher told me to do just saying

  • If you are looking for a more comprehensive guide to clarinet playing visit my channel or website. You can't explain clarinet playing in three minutes. I take hours and hours, video after video

  • God... I suck at music...

  • wow this thing hurts

  • @ragereleaser1 grow up you mutt!

  • You said NOTHING about the bridge keys between the upper and lower joints. Wow, I'm in high school and I know how to teach someone to put a clarinet together!

  • @MJlvr69 you are right!

  • @jstyledipset yeah. like I'm sorry, but that's just pathetic. that's probably the most important part becuase if you don't have those lined up, ya ain't gonna get anywhere! lol

  • @MJlvr69 After i saw the video i thought the bridge keys part isn't important and i thought u didn't have to do that but i saw your comment and your completly right!!!

  • @jstyledipset yeah the bridge key part is actually like the most important thing cause if you have it connected the wrong way, the bottom joint keys won't move (I should know from experience lol.) and i'm only a freshman in high school..

  • @MJlvr69 hey u think u could help me out with my clarinet? i cant get it to make a good sound, just extremely high pitched squeaks and its soo aggravating!!

  • @JMAN09071 I could try lol send me a message :)

  • @JMAN09071 yeah sure. trust me.. been there, done that lol. it is really frustating and annoying..especially since it still happens to me sometimes and i've been playing for 6 going on 7 years. just inbox me and i'll help you as best as i can :)

  • @MJlvr69 Then again it is a well-known fact that expertvillage almost never hires good people to make their videos.

  • @SelvesteDovregubben yeah.. true.

  • @MJlvr69 So impressive! :O

  • Awww crap. All this time I've been trying to blow into the bell.

  • @ihateuutube lol

  • @ihateuutube thts stupid !

  • @ihateuutube Are u kidding??!?!? LOLZ!!!

  • ha she said joint, ha she said mouth piece, ha she said barrel, slap shut up beavis

  • ur holding it completely wrong when u put it together, but still nice video!

  • Comment removed

  • *sigh* this video should bot be on youtube. or at least people shouldn't use it as a guide. just my humble opinion.

  • Um...just wondering but aren't you supposed to press the second key of the upper joint down so you don't bend the clip that holds the two big pieces of the insturment together(nerf nerf)

  • @ScoobyDoo9898 Noo, The instrument stays together.

  • i play teh clarinet and it easy after a while

    @nejixanna4ever

use a 2 1/2 reed thats what i use and its easy

  • booooorrrriiiinnnggg

  • what about the bridge key?? on the middle long piece!

  • you are fucking terrible......

  • ur supposed to start playing with a 2 or a 1 1/2 reed. A 3 is for advanced players.

  • @bboneDawg i use three :D

  • @bboneDawg

Anytips for a 4 reed D: Yeah I'm using a 3 1/2 and well my teacher wants me to play on a 4. Sooo yeah~

  • "The air should be warm" - not true. Every professional teacher that I've ever had has told me that the clarinet runs best on cold air. Plus... I would never assemble the upper and lower joints like that - I did that once and learned my lesson (bent keys and a trip to the repair shop!).

  • DIDENT HELP 1 SINGLE BIT IT STILL GOES ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR WHEN I BLOW AND I JUST GOT A NEW REED

  • @56hotteen you're probably biting the reed. it rests on your bottom lip and is supported by your FRONT teeth. try making you're mouth firm, if its too loose, you'll get a squeak. look up an embochure picture for clarinet if you need to, you're chin should be flat. also make sure you are holding the clarinet at the right angle, if its too high (like a saxophone) you'll squeak. get used to squeaking, every beginner does it. just keep adjusting until you produce a sound =)

  • @crazitaco thanks it worked :)

  • @crazitaco thanks it worked :) AND U GOT ME INTO A BAND :D

  • Wow your an idiot bflat420 you do use hot air

  • thanks for the tips

  • You are sooo preatty

  • why did the not e she played sound nothing like when my friends play?

  • Are you sure you have been playing for 15 years? You have to press the top keys and bottom keys when putting the upper joint and lower joint together. Elementary my friend elementary. I have been playing for two months and it does make a sound when you're not pressing any keys the note is called a G.

  • @SanjiTyloxion i also argree with that i have been playing for 2 months now and i do argree that it is called a g

  • "*it'll make a sound*, and air won't be going through the clarinet ,which means*you wont be making a sound*"

  • Hi, This is Lovely Playing, Also Watch Ustad Abdul salam Naushad, he is an Indian Classical Clarinet Player. He is Amazing too.

  • you should make your own channel

  • I recommend putting the ligature on before you put on the reed. A lot people tends to break their reed while putting the ligature on after the reed.

  • @Zhaosta2252 yea but i play 3 wind instruments and every time i put the reed on then the ligature, its just a habbit that some musicians pick up and once its a habbit most times they dont break the reed with the ligature(myself included)

  • can I learn how to make my sound sound more musical? I can' tget my clarinet properly tuned, but other than that, I are one of the best clarinet players in my whole school

  • It seems like she's reading off of cards or something.

And "blow very hard with your abdomen" Um, I don't think so? Maybe with your abdominal muscles but definitely not with your ass

  • "start with your bell" that's what she saaaid

  • any one find this to seem a little sexual? i kinda seems like shes teaching me how to put on a condom or something

  • @joannesbeauty Yeah but for the people who dont know that its ... you know

  • OMG STOP THE STUPID SUBTITLES!!!! I CANT SEE HOW SHE IS PUTTING IT TOGETHER!!!!

  • YOU ARE A IDIOT

  • wat the hell u said u played clarinet for 15 year? and u did the one thing u are not supposed to do while putting on the clarinet,i just started playing the clarinet maybe half a year ago and i even know wat to do YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO PUT ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM JOINT LIKE THAT,U NEED TO PRESS A CERTAIN KEY WHILE PUTTING IT ON!YYYOOOUU AAARREE GGGOOONNN NNNAA BBBRRREEEAAAKKK YYOOOUUURRR CCCLLLAARRRIIINNNEEET KKKKEEEYYY

  • @skullgorak I don't think it matters. All you have to do is get a grip on the part.

  • Your supposed to have the ligature on before you put the reed on. If you do it the other way then you WILL break your reed.

  • How can you see when there is a text?

  • Almost everytime I blow a different note it sounds the same as the last one. I don't get it is there something stuck in my clarinet?

  • Man, elementary music teachers are not very good with some instruments like the clarinet. I play the clarinet and she got it wrong for the ligerature.

  • I tightened my reed firmly like i was told to and my reed cracked... thanks

  • @KaraokeKid22

Then your reed isn't a good brand.

What type of reed is it?

  • i got a clarinet yesterday for band ... i barely made the auditions for clarinet spot

  • @coolcatcali lol all clarinets look the same

  • @SitOnYouProductions some r purple
