Can these breathe under water? I have a small what I believe is a tiger salamander I caught just before it started heading across a busy street, I'm surprised at just how little information is out there on these..
I like her. Holds the animal close to a surface to prevent injury from falling and doesn't hold it by the tail like another expertvillage I saw doing. Very well fed animal, too. Though salamanders are little gluttons. X-D
do salamanders feel like a snake because i have a snake redtail boa anyway i was wondering because i always wanted one but they look like they would slip right out of your hand lolz

I always saw these growing up in west Texas. :> They're so cute. I never saw them get that big, though, that's huge! And so mellow, such an adorable little animal, and always exciting when you find one as a kid.
i live in western north carolina, and i've only found one my whole time i've looked for them. he was awesome though, really fascinating. i came across a big hellbender too while i was fishing last month, he was huge!! gotta love reptiles and amphibians.
I'm in NJ, and I've only found 1, usually the unusual salamanders, which is to me anything other than the red-backed salamander seem to come out during the early summer.
hi do you know how long they take to reach their full size? I have a female which is around 11 inches and a male which is around 8 but they're nowhere near as chunky as this one.
beautiful. just beautiful.

I estimate this example is 12-13 inches long. The colour of its skin is eye catching. Barred and blotched are my favorites.
