  • .for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

  • GREAT

    GREAT

    GREAT

  • GREAT

  • May the Scottish BackPipes Always Play for Unity and Peace on Our Planet By Honouring St. Andrew's Teaching.

    !Mitakuye Oyasin!

  • Thumbs up if you want Scotland to become an independent country !

  • Our younger daughter used this at her wedding via a super quality CD. The traditional beginning with a lone piper joined by the full band is not to be missed. Thrilled to see it done live at the huge annual Virginia International Military Tattoo.

  • beautiful !!!!!!!!!

  • My man you are a True Jock and be f"""ing proud . I live in Somerset and and I am loud and proud

  • The video's out of time with the sound. Watch the fingers and the marching and compare it to the tune.

  • @robertmrutledge OMG you're right! Do you think maybe they are just pretend pipers? The video is spoiled for me now.

  • @thegoodseed1 Well, if the marching, the drums and the pipes are out of sync.. Wouldn't it be more probable that it's just the video that's a little out of sync? :P I doubt they would fake things like this.

  • @Snobollskrieg I know....I was only joking. My point was that despite the beautiful music one person could only notice a little bit of sync-problems!!

  • @robertmrutledge Probably the recorded track was done independently of the filming which wouild not be unusual.

  • This song brings tears to my eyes. It makes me proud to be one part Scottish/German I didnt get into my heritage until I got my first sheltie. And participated in Scottish games and got to travel.

  • its so lush that even the scots play that german song!!!

  • I have watched this video so many times I think I am developing a crush on most of these pipers-something about their nimble fingers that are so long and thick...yikes how embarassing to admit that I would love to look under those kilts. It was the picture of the lone piper that drew me to the video at first, now it's the beautiful melody and pure Celtic lust.

  • You are before me, Lord, You are behind

    And over me You have spread out Your hand;

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

Too high to grasp, to great to understand.

  • Cheesier than a direct hit on a cheese factory!

  • the one thing most of you won't know is the following fact.

Highland Cathedral is not a scottish, or even british piece of music. It is a german piece of music, due to the fact, that the two composers were from germany.

They just wrote it for the highlands.

But nevertheless it is an outstanding beautiful piece of music.

    greetings from germany

  • I Love this Melodie

  • I always cry when I hear bagpipes. My gran comes in with bagpipes from scotland every time I call her. They must have a hell of a Band in Heaven. Every time I have lost someone in any life they always play the bagpipes....

  • They played this at our last day at school in norway too. Brings back a lot of memories!

  • My grandma was burried today, to this song...

  • It's a beautiful song, no doubt. I think it's quite amazing how a song, which was written by germans in the 1980s could get so popular in Scotland.

Greeting from Bavaria (its near Germany)

  • @TheEchopage Simiar mentallity.Just like FC koln fans have adopted "Loch Lomond".

  • Sehr schön.daumen hoch vür dich

  • I went to a boarding school in Scotland for a year. The School's pipe band played it pretty much the same way in the memorial Hall on my last day there. Everytime I hear it, I have to remember that day and its hard not to start crying, cause it creates so much atmosphere. GREAT TUNE. The three English people who dislike this should just accept that it is a great piece of music!

  • @1992konsti How do you know their English?

  • @1992konsti I'm a Englishman and I love this peice of music!

  • to poppy

  • Ok, but why the hell there are pop beats from the second minute? Really, why would ANYONE need pop beats in the song for bagpipes and drums? They almost always destroy everything.

  • dusseligen

  • AWESOME!!!!! I cant believe this dosent have at least a million hits!!!!!!! Big thumbs up from Boston!!!

  • Music to sooth the weary soul. I could listen to it for a long long time.

  • Sehr schön...da fängt man an den Dudelsack zu mögen...

  • Some sounds maybe copied from 'Gags for laughs, etc'. But I still believe the composer(s) have done an okay job. C'mon you Scots pipers, you have to beat this one. Don't let the Gerries beat you.

  • This version allways makes me cry because its so beautyfull ... I hope that i can go to scotland and see that amazing country someday ... greetings from denmark :)

  • 3 people are english

  • this tune is so emotional im british mum was scottish and my partner caroline when we meet told me her daugther Marie wrote a poem abt dunblane killings i love this tune reminds me of mum and my happy childhood in gods country

  • Highland Cathedral was played just before I walked my daughter down the aisle. It was not an easy task since both of us were on the verge of tears, but we made it. Being the son of parents that came to the US from Glasgow, I am a died in the wool SCOT and proud to be one. I was drummer with the Atlanta Pipe Band back in 70's and now my son is a Grade 2 drummer with a band in North Carolina. Yes, Pipes and Drums are part of our life!!!

  • @1942dandy what band does your son drum in?

  • @SuperCelticKing He plays for the Grandfather Mountain Highlanders in North Carolina. They are a very good Grade 4 band and my son is an exceptional Grade 2 Drummer. I was a drummer once, but not as good as my son..

  • @1942dandy cool, im a piper myself but was thinking about taking up drumming at one point

  • I must be honest, I haven't heard the Highland cathedral played nearly as beautifully as they played it during my time in high school. I've been looking for something similar to THAT for 10 years and nothing touches it... Tis here we learn to live!!

  • GIGANTESQUE

  • why is it out of sync?

  • reminds of the day i passed off from phase1 basic training!!

  • OMFG we scots do things with style

  • Lovely makes me very proud to be scottish thank youi Germany. My son wants to learn pipes but nobody hear to teach him and we live in scotland.

  • love the Scots cross on the shadows on the floor!

  • Im Mexican. After Listening To This: I Wanna Be A Piper.

  • We heard this song at the Tattoo in 1988, by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. My daughter loved it so much, that it was played by a piper of the Atlanta Pipe band and our church's magnificent pipe organ for her wedding in 2000.

  • @1942dandy at our final school assembly, funny enough also in 2000, they played the Highland cathedral along with the organ. You just do not get it better than that. As soon as the organ joins the pipes, it moves something deep inside you. It left every single boy with tears running down his cheeks. I just wish I could find a copy accompanied by an organ....

  • I view this vid over and over again. It truely is touching, and sad. May I suggest that you rename your vid to "Highland Cathedral - Dunblane Cathedral". It is deserving of more "hits". Should be shared/seen more...

  • The pipes and the video always give me goose bumps. This is one of my all time favorites. Peace from the United States of America.

  • i heard this song from hong kong police and then cant escape

  • I now want to marry a scottishman!

  • we had a piper, Davey Welsh pipe us out to this music at our wedding on 9th April 2011, it was wonderful!

  • What a beautiful piece of music and the Pipes and Drums make it brilliant

  • Beautiful!

  • Land of my fathers, we will always be

Faithful and loyal to our own country.

In times of danger we will set you free,

Lead you to glory and to victory.

Lonely the exile, o'er distant seas,

The home of their birth, gone from their eyes.

Bring back their souls o'er the ocean breeze

To the land where their fathers lie.

  • this ought to be played only with pipes and drums and non off any schützenfest-spielmannszüge

    it belongs to scottish traditions

  • I lost one part of my Heart in Scotland . With best greetings from Bavaria

  • I love love love Scotland and scots ...

    Kisses from France

  • My wife and I got married to this tune. Played by the City of Denver (now Denver & District) Pipe band.
