  • AISAIDAISAI SOUND... :D

  • this guitar had a filtertron??

  • what's the riff he plays at 0:50?

  • Comment removed

  • i want the amp settings i want em bad

  • Not striking HARD ENOUGH!!! Gah xD

  • How does an elctromatic sound through stettings like that?

  • u call that ac/dc tone?...u freaking serious?

ac/dc has there gain settings low and just crank up the volume

  • @Giggity230 you have no idea, I repeat no idea. that is as close to the ACDC sound that I have heard and I would know!! Note very little gain in Malcoms sound a little more gain in the Angus sound. and thats the way I have heard it since around 1975/76

  • single cut piece of shit. thats not a real jet firebird

  • @BionicSammich

Hahaha...wow, could be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. You DO realize that Gretsch only went to double-cut in '61 because they were following Gibson's lead? Double-cut Gretsch's are generally considered to be "less desireable" than the single's...the later 60's-70's were some pretty crappy times. A "real" Jet is single-cut my friend...Malcolm at least made the double somewhat tolerable! :)

  • @PeterPug007 so you are the kind of a guy who likes to follow the crowed and fit in i guess. well good luck with having no individuality

  • @BionicSammich

Hmmm..because Malcolm played one of the ugliest guitars ever made, that makes liking it "individual"?? Well ok then...that's one way of looking at it! :) I'll go back to following the "crowed" (sic) and play my run-of-the-mill '60 Jet...I feel so ashamed I just might have to take a hacksaw to the crowd-following upper bout of my guitar so I can be individual again.

    Man, thanks...I feel better already!

  • @PeterPug007 its your opinion that you think the guitar is uglie but your opinion is no greater than mine or anyone elses for that matter.

  • @PeterPug007 im with bionic on this one. you have no more of an opinion than anyone. i think the double cut guitars are pretty damn sexy

  • @PeterPug007 also. a hacksaw is for cutting metal not wood. looks like someones getting a bit rusty with his knowledge

  • @PeterPug007 i think BionicSammich is right. we all have the same opinion and what not. also the double cut guitars are a lot nicer in my opinion buddy

  • @BionicSammich

    et al:

Ok, so I go out to grab a quick beer and I return to a Kafkaesque world where double-cut Jets are "sexy" and my lack of hacksaw-knowledge is an abomination of God ...what did I drink? :)

Funny how someone can say "single cut piece of shit...not a real jet firebird" and I'm the one who gets attacked??

Would I turn down a double-cut Jet with Filter'Trons...not on your life.

Hahaha...my opinion is no greater than anyone elses, true...although it is the correct one. lol

  • @PeterPug007 there is no such thing as a right or wrong opinion

  • @AngusYoungThe7thSon You'll be a naked guitar player.

  • How much is a gretsch like this?

  • @morristhef The cost is around $3,499 (Aussie costing)

  • @Landerspromo what kind of strings are those because i have been playing about ac/dc for about 4 years

  • You need to discover some bands other than ACDC. Seriously dude get out of your box.

  • @The170460 Marshall Gretsch the sound of rock!!

  • @The170460 Měl by ses nejprve alespoň trochu zamyslet, než příště začneš psát takovéhle sračky....

  • what riff is he playing right at the start

  • @TheRazorAddict Hey mate, that was AC/DCs "Sin City"

  • I find it amazing, I'm not bragging here, but I found it awesome that I could easily copy what you did in about 1 minute... :D

  • wow fuck aewsome

  • Damn straight!

  • That amp sucks. I owned one for about a weekend. That thing has no "classic gain setting." It's all fizzy crap.

  • Klasse Sound!!! Warum baut GRETSCH diese Gitarre nicht als Double Cut ????

    Ich versteh´s nicht...

Great sound!!! Why there´s no Double cut version.... ?!? I don´t understand Gretsch´s company policy.... ??????

    A+++

  • would be nice as hell to obtain an all original Gretsch that Malcolm used and modify it in the same way he did in the 70s to , same colour, same specs , same year he used and so on, gotta love those Gretsch's :D

  • this is the best rythem sound I know...

  • come on the amp is not set up for malcolm sound

  • @mcsaltens ''Well Thats good to know""

  • do they still make the double cutaway version?

  • @44eelz Not as such only in the Malcom Young Signature!!

  • @44eelz They don't make the firebird in doublecut, but they do the duo jet in black which is double cut, it is pretty similar to the firebird.

  • Thus one with the space control bridge is a Firebird with TV Jones Filtertrons. The Power Jet Firebird has a Nasville style bridge (better adjustment for intonation) and TV Jones PowerTron pickups with a little more bite than the FilterTrons. This one is also a hardtail with out the Bigsby. The Power Jet Firebird with Bigsby come with locking tuners, the hardtails do not. Either way - they are not Tele's being much lighter with body chambering and frig'in rock out!

  • would you guys recommend the Jet Firebird....or a G6128T

  • the main differance between a Jet Firebird (red) and a G6128T is the colour a 6128T is usually Black (the T stands for Tremelo) however can be green as well (non filtertron) ... but as long as you have filtertrons or TV Jones style filtertrons it will sound Grand.

  • Is this a solid body?

  • @MrJackanthony No its a chambered body

  • @Landerspromo Thanks

  • @Landerspromo Excuse me if this is stupid but is this a solid body guitar?

  • @MrJackanthony Hi!! not a stupid question at all! it is chambered which adds to its open chord sound!!

  • @Landerspromo Thanks. No wonder. I do love its open sustain. Do chambered and semi hollow mean the same thing? (Now that Im sure is a stupid question...:) )

    Thanks for your time.

  • I had one of these Power Jet Firebirds two years ago. Probably the BEST sounding guitar I have ever owned. TV Jones pickups, to me, have no peer. Every guitar I have heard them in just gives it the RIGHT sound, suitable for any kind of music. This was a good test combo, they show what they can do when hooked up to a great amp like this Marshall. The only complaint I had about mine is that the neck was a wee bit too thin, and the fret ends needed better dressing, they were kind of rough.

  • Anyone try the firebird with TV Jones pickups?

  • Is it just me or this guitar sounds a lot like a tele?

  • Yeah,

well, those Filter-Tron-Pick Ups twangs a lot....just like a Telecaster! But to say this guitar sounds like a Tele is too much! XD

  • So it is just me. No need for thumbs down.

  • I didn´t want to say something wrong....I just wanted you to tell why you might think this Guitar sounds like a Telecaster!

Sorry if I said something wron!

  • Hey, that's okay! Seriously, no need to apologize!

The comment actually was meant for someone who gave me the thumbs down, I should post as a reply!

    All the best!

  • It does twang alot, but its fatter than a tele

  • Thats the sound!

  • Great tone man! True Malcolm's sound.

  • whoopass guitar

  • What was the thing being played at 0:52 onwards?

  • Its improv, e scale.

  • on the gretsch, are the fret markers easy to see when playing given how they're positioned? That's the only thing i can see "wrong" with them.

  • nah, i've played guitars with NO fret markers, it don't matter. People think they'll have trouble with it, but really you mostly use the dots on the side of the neck, not the actual face of the fretboard.

  • Wow. Sounds just like the actuall Sin City

  • Sin City! But what the hell is that second song, I have to know!1

  • Comment removed

  • No it's not...I have all the AC/DC albums, I know all of their songs by heart, and that's not Nervous Shakedown....

  • Yeah, I realized that after I posted it. Whoops.

  • You look like somebody who would know what settings I would need to get an AC/DC tone on a Marshall MG250DFX

  • hey man i have the 100DFX and found a good AC/DC tone. try this- On the Overdrive channel: Gain 4, Bass 7, Middle 7, Treble 7, Contour 3, OD channel volume 8

    Hope this helps

  • Have a look on Solodallas channel, he tells you how to get their sound.

  • Hey...got the same Amp.....when I play AC/DC with my SG (don´t know how a Gretsch will react) I use this setting:

    OD:3 Bass:4 Middle:10 Treble:10

  • Only if they would make it in a double cut.

  • Aussie band Dallas Crane, had their own custom build of this in the double cut. Try giving Gretsch a call. :P

  • ive got that guitar!!!

    its great!!!

  • there ya go then - they've put some of the PAF-style midrange back in (although i can't really hear it on this demo...)

  • what are those unique gretsch pick-ups like? can some1 give me a brief description telling me the difference between them and, say, a Fender Strat or a Les Paul?

  • the filtertrons have more top end 'sparkle' than gibson-style humbuckers, they sound a bit less fat. it's a good sound, but not for everyone

  • actually ive looked up this guitar the pickups are tv jones powertrons but there very similiar.

  • errrrr marshall JCM2000 horrible :(

  • I love that tone, I wish I had the money to buy that equipment (or at least it would be really cool to try it but here in Seville, in Spain, music stores don't have Gretschs, lol)

  • Marshall Vintage Modern ^^<3
