  • no dude their freakin mormon theres a BIG difference watch the episode of south park "All About Mormons?"

  • A warlord who shoots people in the face...

    What's so scary about that?!

  • @fhornsandunicorns Mormonism isn't a form of Christianity.

  • @MrBurkenify Oh but it is.

  • @MrBurkenify they believe that christ is their savior which makes them christian

  • Climb ev'ry mountain!

  • 13 people had a shred of doubt and got shoot by a warlord in the face

  • there is nothing that makes mormonism any more ridiculous than every other form of christianity (and other religions). thats one of the points of this musical, every religions beliefs are pretty silly and sometimes theres nothing wrong with that.

  • @fhornsandunicorns No there is... For christ's sake the pope believes in the theory of evolution

  • in 1978 god changed his mind about black people lol

  • "I believe, that in 1978 God changed his mind about black people!" <3 Win

  • @nonononoey lol

  • Everything that they say in this song is the truth.. I'm a mormon.

Ancient Jews built boats and sailed to America.... Yes. That's what the Book of Mormon is about. Their testament of Christ in the New World.

We believe that if we live richeously we will become like God, and that involves our own planet.

Thomas S. Monson recieves revelation from Heavenly Father.

Through modern-day revelation.. we believe that the Garden of Eden was located in Jackson County, Missouri.

  • @katelovesgoats you don't seriously believe all that garbage, do you? anyone with an IQ over 30 can't. you obviously know how to use a computer and leave a youtube comment, that means you should be smart enough to know that it's nonsense.

  • @karlsmith00 That's just what he believes. Are you REALLY gonna argue against something that he strongly believes?

  • @katelovesgoats Ignore karlsmith00, he's an idiot. Believe what you want, the only thing important is being a good person. :)

  • @katelovesgoats Oh, lord.

  • A warlord that shoots people in the face. What's so scary about that? XD

  • I have Mormon friends who laughed when I played this song and then admitted it's truth.

  • And all I get are people debating religion.. ugh.

  • I get on this video hoping for lol comments.

  • This song restored a little of my hope in the world. I all but gave up on religion, and don't believe anything remotely related to any religion, and its nice to have a positive outlook again :)

Whether or not you like this musical, it has pushed some boundaries, that would have been pushed anyway, whether it be in 20 or 200 years.

And I love how mormons see the best in everyone :) makes me feel awesome for once.

  • Oh @SuperStuck17 it's not because of theses songs your religion, and all religions for that matter, is just ridiculous

  • @cenationofvipers Oooookaaay!!!!!!!!

  • @cenationofvipers I couldnt help but read your post and feel saddened. The truth is that Christianity and other peacefully practiced religions have done alot for this world. I hope that one day you will acknowledge that my brother.

  • @Imisstheoilers Nice addition of "peacefully practiced" there. Because we all know that once it stops being peacefully practiced, it turns into a shit-storm for all involved. The truth is that religions have been used to justify some of the most awful things in history. If religious people would acknowledge this instead of pulling the wool over their own eyes and walk around going "my religion is always good", it'd be an even better world.

  • @TheGlassDot You are right religion has been used in some of the worst ways. I wish that those people would have followed the explicit teachings of Jesus or other peaceful religions rather than using the faiths for their own twisted purposes. I challenge anyone who has written off religion because of the actions of tyrannical rulers to open up the New Testament and see just how corrupt those people were, because the Word makes no reference to violence or subjugation to other rulers.

  • @Imisstheoilers Check the testament before that. ;)

If you want to say that the teachings of the character of Jesus were decent, then yeah, I'd mostly agree. But the good moral teachings of the new testament are so blindingly obvious that it is a shock that people actually need to be told these things. Love is an inherent, human emotion. What I think is much more important than simply saying, "love your neighbor" is to give a *real* reason to do so. I don't find that in The Bible, to be honest.

  • @TheGlassDot The Old Testament is exactly that. Out of date and completely superceded by the New testament. I believe that even though you think it is blindly obvious to do the things the New Testament says, people still refuse to do them, for whatever reason, be it selfish or immoral motivations. The New Testament isnt supposed to tell you something that cant be figured out, its to get people more conscious of their actions and their effects on other people.

  • brilliant.

  • Lol god lives on kolab :)

  • It's not funny when people takes this so seriously!! I am a LDS member and I love these songs, even if i do not agree with many of them.. but they're cool.. I like it but i don't like when people mock mormons because of these songs!! :(

  • @SuperStuck17 I am Jack Mormon and love it when people talk mean things about the LDS faith.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrMaDelirious That's stupid!

  • @SuperStuck17 Yes it is.

  • @SuperStuck17 its not mocking anything its just saying we should not go too far with religion. By mocking I mean being too cruel

  • @AdamEfimoff Ok, that's better.. Thanx for explaining-- :)

  • @SuperStuck17 LOL well maybe if your religion weren't so damn ridiculous we wouldn't mock it

  • A warlord who shoots people in the face...

    WHATS SO SCARY ABOUT THAT!

  • This seriously is an freaking amazing song.

  • God lives on a planet called what??? lol

  • @peanutBUTTERslap4 Kolob.

  • @peanutBUTTERslap4 Kolob. However, Kolob is a star according to Mormon Doctrine, not a planet.

  • for 4 minutes and 45 seconds, i was a mormon.

  • Blowjobs!

  • you know trey and matt were on acid when they made this. THAT'S WHY THEY ARE SO BRILLIANT! :D

  • This song is so damn good and catchy! lol

  • I like this song! I'm not a morman so I don't believe EVERYTHING in the song. I like the parts about Jesus and stuff though. It's all about faith!

  • @anneflint they aren't the truth because no facts back them up they are only thought to be true

  • So I grew up LDS, was quite devout for a good part of my teen years.

EVERYTHING that's said in this song is true. In fact, I'm shocked nothing about underwear was mentioned. ALL of what's said in this song can be found in any of the Church's doctrines.

Plus, why are mormons offended? Half this country's trying to declare war on Islam, Jewish Genocide, Catholics are the butt of a million and two jokes...

Be honored to have a Tony winning musical based on my faith. Better than death.

  • all religion is complete bulllshit and you're blind if you believe it

  • The creators of South Park sure do like making fun of Mormons.

  • @anglel531 atheism is not a religion its in fact the absence of religion

  • There's a backing track you can buy for this song at btracks.com :-)

  • Faith is lack of education

  • lol oh god i need to see this play XD

  • I'm mormon, and I loved this :D

  • This one is my favorite out of all of them :)

  • Interesting part is... Mormons ACTUALLy believe this stuff, or they don't know it but still call themselves a Mormon.

What an ingenius musical!!! Shows what is REALLY a cult!

  • I live in Utah, and I can't tell you many people I know who are butthurt by this musical. But the thing is it's created by the writer of South Park. South Park makes fun of everyone. AND this is very creative and hilairous! sooo all the mormons butthurt by this genius musical i have on thing to say to you, stfu. kthanksbye. <3

  • @imbatmanbitch13 Heck, even Trey and Matt pointed out in their interviews that no matter how goofy they find the Latter-Days Saints, they love um because they are the nicest people around. And that's basically what the musical is about. Faith can be a goofy thing, but it can change the world and people for the better.

  • Cough Sound of Music Cough

  • I was raised in Jackson County, Missouri =) and Johnson County, Kansas, but thats not as important.

  • with sin that's why Jesus got crucified so that Catholics would be sorta like free from their sins after baptism....I'm like 98% positive. So all in all just enjoy the songs and let everyone put aside their religious viewpoints because no one really gives a rat's butt about what you have to say about your religion.

  • Seriously can people stop bashing Mormonism and other religions. It doesn't matter what the heck you believe in just shut up and take a joke. Also to the person that said that Christianity believes that only baby males are born with sin I have came up

with 2 explanations. 1.Your not a Catholic or 2. You slept through religious education. every Catholic knows that everyone is born

  • @tglass55 i grew up mormon (not anymore!) but I don't think they believe the whole jackson county missouri thing. I'm not sure though.

  • It doesn't matter what you believe!!! You can't tell someone that their religion isn't accepted, because don't most relegions say to respect and understand anyone no matter what their beliefs are. What I've seen is anything BUT respectful. So what if you're a Mormon, Jewish person, Christian, Catholic, Muslim, or Athiest, it honestly doesn't matter because my God or your God or our God loves us and wants us to love everyone too <3 that is all. But I do love this musical anyway!!! <3333 :) yayaay

  • chum is fum

  • @Xerock so? did i in any way make fun of anyone? I dislike making fun of any religion. Catholics believe that all baby males are born full of sin... to me that is wierd and unbelievable but they believe it so i will respect it. I even respect scientology and all they believe, I just ask that others extend me the same courtesy.

  • @michaelparshley Catholics believe everyone is full of sin when they are born not just males.

  • @michaelparshley

I'm an atheist. I dont extend any religions any courtesy.

  • @BlackForgeSteel this particular song doesnt, but the play as a whole does. I dont mind, all i mind is the idiots that take this too seriously on either direction (as "this makes fun of my religion take it down!" or "haha, look at what the stupid mormons believe"). All religions have wierd stuff that they believe, i just dont appreciate the *people* that make fun of any religion. But like my previous comment said, this is the people who did south park, they make fun of everything.

  • @michaelparshley That is fair.

  • @yosefthemountainman All i mean is that south park makes fun of everything.... i mean nothing is exempt. and in my opinion a lot of other religions has ridiculous things, but you dont see me bashing them do you? I happen to like the songs and the message that sometimes what religions say is kinda stupid. You have to actually read my comment to understand that.

  • @michaelparshley I do not see how this makes fun of Mormons, everything said, well sang in this song is completely true, and in fact almost identical to Missionary experiences.

  • I wish this wasn't sold out :c

  • This reminds me of "I Have Confidence" from the sound of music!

  • @strawberryicemint That's on purpose :)

  • @strawberryicemint lol, it reminds me of "we are the champions".

  • ABster, i cant agree with you more.

  • ok, i am mormon and i find this kinda funny... I just don't like that everyone takes this so seriously. I mean come on.. this is by the same guys who created south park, they make fun of everything....and dont all religions just believe without proof? thats kinda what faith is...

  • @michaelparshley Right, they created a cartoon and therefore you can't listen to their message. And yes, all religions require you to believe without proof - yours just has slightly more ridiculous stuff that it forces you to believe.

  • @michaelparshley

Because most christian religions aren't nearly as batshit as Mormonism. You're the Scientology of Christianity.

  • @Xerock "Honey! It's okay! I read God's Word out of a magic hat, and He says He's not just okay with me sleeping around on you, He actually WANTS ME TO!!!!!!... Also, Jesus came to America after the resurrection, Native Americans are actually ancient Hebrews (Why else would they live in TRIBES???), and only 2000 people in the history of EVER are going to get into Heaven, but the good news is that they all GET THEIR OWN PLANET!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, God lives in space, btw,.. So there's that."

  • @michaelparshley You are VERY wrong, and i am sad to say that you just "BELIEVE" Mormons, how can you follow a guy you claims to be God. That you would be a God of your own planet. I mean, how can you believe that!! I am a Born again, Christian, and I know that God created the universe, but we have FOREVER accepted people, not starting in 1978. Your book is ALWAYS being updated... unlike the Bible where it is translated for easier understanding for young people,

  • @BuddyChesnut I'm a Christian, too, but please, you're not really going to make people think Christianity is awesome or even remotely respectable by bashing their beliefs. We're all different and believe different things, so let's all just agree to disagree.

  • @leelee403 I think everyone can agree that Andrew Rannells is AMAZING and was drop dead awesome during the Tony's. That's what I believe. :)

  • @BuddyChesnut - "how can you follow a guy you claims to be God?" - LDS don't claim "Brother Joseph" or any "prophet" is God

"That you would be a God of your own planet" - heirs to the kingdom of God and John 10:34 ("ye are gods"). If God created the universe, isn't the universe His kingdom? LDS don't believe they'll become "Gods," because "Heavenly Father" is God.

"but we have FOREVER accepted people, not starting in 1978" - Pre-'78 restrictions were about priesthood, cf: the ban on non-Levites

  • @captmoroni Yea, but stilll, pre-78, you guys judged people bhrthe color of their skin. I am a born again Christian, and yes, Heirs to the kingdom... however, you bishops and the upper hands truely beleive about the planets. And a serious note, why so many books???? Book of Mormon for example????

  • but still means the same from the original language. Also, the Bible has SOOO much proof. The flood, anicient dead sea scrolls... So of your beliefs are more correct than others. Jesus Christ was on Earth, but the Garden of Eden was in the Middle East. Your religion just switches things around. I live in NE Mesa, AZ and your religion basically "runs" the town. But really, you are decieved, sad people and a laughing stock. God.... lol... read John 3:16. ONE SON, a bunch of prophets!!

  • @michaelparshley that is brilliant!

  • @michaelparshley That's sort of the point of the play. Mormonism sort of represents all organized religions. Trey Parker has described the play as "An Atheist's love letter to organized religion"

  • @michaelparshley This is true that faith is involved for religions. But it can also proove that religion with current earth.

Also Book of Mormon, page 61, 2 Nephi 5, verse 21. The remark in this song about black people is rather correct in the religion.

  • @michaelparshley they make fun of a lot of things, but they bothered to make fun of mormonism in several of ther SP episodes and write a broadway musical on it. they truly believe it is retarded man.

i'm not giving my view on it or anything, but that is definitely their view on the cult

  • @RedKingCommandz Several others no just in the episode All About Mormons duh

  • @deltaholmes and they made that guy who founded mormonism one of the Super Best Friends in a few of their videos so yeah several douche

  • @michaelparshley HGAHAHHAAHHHAHAHAHHA MORMONS

  • @michaelparshley yes but i think what they are attacking here is the miss steps in logic notice the the first assertions are common to most forms of christianity and are accepted by most however as he continues the things get more outlandish ie getting a planet then they get contradictory ie the thing about black people but the thing is there not simply mocking mormons as they are using mormonism to show the power of faith in anything to unite people. i thinks its uplifting and pretty funny

  • @54lsh matt and trey have never attacked anything, their goal is to entertain not to offend

  • 10 people just believe

  • Does anybody know where I can find footage of any of the other songs performed?

  • @tommyig88 Can't i'm afraid mate =(

The musical has not been recorded for TV etc yet, to encourage more to go see it live.

    Which i recommend you do.

    Its worth it

  • Okay, I have to be a nerd for a second,

The beginning is a parody of 'sound of music'

'I have confidance, or whatever that song is called.. Am I the only one who heard it?

  • @BadWritingInt No you're absolutely right. You can also hear Defying Gravity in You and Me but Mostly Me, Hakuna Matata in Hasa Diga Eebowai, and some other things in some other songs like The Music Man.

  • @BadWritingInt Nope. That's a fact. My mom noticed that before I did xD

  • Ironically enough this song does make me feel a little faith.

  • @SuperJonMitchell So are you ready to trust in God, and know that Jesus Christ has an incredible plan for your life?

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 Dude seriously. I'm agnostic I believe in God already. Don't try to save me.

  • This may be a witty alteration of the truth, but still an adulteration and only the portrayal of a perception and not a fair, careful depiction of fact. Rather, this is a disingenuous attempt to portray the "Mormon" religion in such a way as to render it ridiculous (even to one who understands and practices the religion). This is not accurate and I don't find it entertaining. However, I don't wish to argue about any particulars; the facts are readily available from real missionaries or lds.org.

  • @clntjns

ancient jews built boats and sailed to America?

Getting your own planet after death?

thomas monson speaking to directly to god?

the big change (black people) in the 1978?

god on Kolob? Jesus having his own planet?

garden of eden in jackson county missouri?

    which one isn't "accurate"?

  • @tglass55 I don't know about you, but I think it would be pretty dang awesome if I got my own planet after I died!

  • @Disneythievesrock

what about 2 planets? What about your own universe? What about 47 virgins or wings and harps? I can dream up all kinds of things that would be awesome to get after death. A reason to believe them? that would be harder...

  • Comment removed

  • @tglass55 Probably the easiest to pick nits at would be the fact that, in 1978, an all knowing God decided black people were allowed to be Mormon.

I mean, what was the change? Was it black people that changed, or did a timeless agesless ethereal godhead figure really reconsider his decision? Either way, it makes for a funny line. Probably my favorite part of the song.

  • Mormon priests, I mean.

  • @HarmlessBystander Mormon Priests are called Bishops

  • @HarmlessBystander definitely my favorite part of the song, and the way the chorus echoes him with "black people!" always makes me smile. and the look on his face when he performed it at the Tony Awards was priceless!!!

  • @tglass55 Kolob is a star, not a planet. However, everything was pretty much correct.

  • @tglass55 Well, you just have to believe xD

  • Comment removed

  • @clntjns “this is a disingenuous attempt to portray the "Mormon" religion in such a way as to render it ridiculous”

So wait you're saying Mormonism ISN'T ridiculous? Think carefully about your own beliefs. Put them into another context, and it's clear how it looks to a lot of other people. You don't need to alter information to portray something differently.

  • @clntjns You don't get to make a statement like that and then not give at least one example to back up your argument. You have just failed debate and 5th grade English

  • @clntjns Here's the thing: every religion's beliefs sound silly. I'm Catholic. Now imagine I started listing off my beliefs: That the host and wine truly become the body and blood of Christ, that Mary is our mother, that the Pope is infallible, that a priest can get rid of all your sins. All of these are accurate and they all sound stupid, even to me. It's only with faith that these beliefs stop being weird and become the truth. Everybody's religion is weird. That's why faith is so important.

  • @anneflint Wouldn't it just make more sense to not believe stupid things?

  • I am a current mormon and a musical lover and this song honestly makes me laugh my head off. It's not offensive, its true. This is what we believe(:

  • I am a current mormon and a musical lover and this song honestly makes me laugh my head off. It's not offensive, its true. This is what we believe(:

  • And I believe that In 1978 God changed his mind about black people! (black people!)

  • Being both a devote member of the lds faith and a DEVOTE worshiper of musicals ^_^ i think the best part about this is that the lyrics are really cleverly written.

  • ''...and that plan involves me getting my own planet.''

  • Holy cow... this guy has pipes!!! Amazing song, as the daughter of a mormon who is forced to go to church with them.. this song makes my life. Scratch that... this show makes my life.

  • I am a christian...and a christian just believes

  • As a jaded ex-Mormon, I have to say that this is... basically the greatest thing that has ever happened.

  • Can I get this on DVD?

  • 7 ppl need to believe in something.

  • a warlord who shoots people in the face. what's so scary about that?!

  • this makes me wanna shoot everyone. lmfao

  • The beginning is meant to sound like 'I have Confidence' from Sound of Music, right? Or did I just stumble upon some plagerism there haha? :L

  • @XNancieRoseX Yes. There are other songs that are riffs on Wicked, Hairspray, and other musicals. That is the brilliance of Matt and Trey! :D

  • The guy who sings this is one hell of a singer

  • I know this song is a parody of something, but I can't pick it out. Like a specific song... specifically the part where the men say there is an intruder in the camp... it's killing me! I could be wrong, but....

  • @philliesphan804 /watch?v=SSDOrdRQNf0

  • @quiteflypaper Ahh yes! Hahaha, i found this on another video too, like ten minutes ago... but theres still the part about the intruder into a camp sounds so familiar, but from something different. like i said, maybe I'm just imagining things! hahah, thank you though.

  • I believe that ancient Jews built boats and sailed to America!

  • and I believe, that in 1978 god changed his mind about black people!

  • donny osmond deserves his own planet

  • and in 1978 God changed his mind about black people!BLACK PEOPLE!xD

    cant wait to see this!

  • Loving The Sound Of Music references! I want my high school to do this! (I'm sure the PTA Moms would love that...)

  • SOUND OF MUSIC SHOUT OUT.

  • Comment removed

  • I saw this show last Thursday, I'm LDS I thought it was hilarious! Any mormons who are being offended by the music without seeing the show should realize any of the crude or vulgar humor is being portayed by the Ugandan's that the missionaries are teaching, and NOT by us. They actually hit the nail on the head about the our values and beliefs. They may poke some sarcastic humor towards us, but they also do to Catholics, Jews, and others. All in all I though it was excellent!

  • @jamieday23 You're really awesome. Just sayin'.

  • @amgemf Thanks :)

  • If you're LDS and you got offended by this, then you're not LDS. By the way, I'm LDS and I'm not offended.

  • this musical almost makes me want to be religious..... almost

  • This should be in the LDS Hymn Book, right next to "If You Could Hie to Kolob"

  • As a religious person I must say Matt and Terry are the only people I have seen that can mock religion without being hateful towards the people who follow it.

  • @onepiecefan74 Where have you been? Try and meet more people and you should meet more of us.

  • Its not called being a hipster. It's called being a theater kid like myself.

  • It sounds like 'I Have Confidence' from Sound of Music! :D Clever!

  • Where the 6 that disliked this song mormon?

  • The second M is for emphasis.
