  • even comic then :')

  • This is the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway in Kent.

The clip refers to the reopening of the line after the war. The railway itself had been running since 1926.

They have photos of Stan and Laurel at the station - but they don't have this clip!

  • Absolutley Brilliant, never seen this footage before, Thanks for Posting..

  • Lovely. We all grew up with them and many of us took them for granted. You forget about how great and funny they were, until you see clips like this, that is.

  • well posted -- JUST GREAT to see these legends in any context--- and also this same year (1947) they appeared at butlins skegness my old mum & dad got tickets for the show.

  • Hey, dont worry about the video and sound, it's just cool that you shared this with the world. These little "real life" snippets from yester year are fun to watch!!

  • Thanks for posting this, So wonderful to see them in a candid context like this. They were nothing short of heavenly.

  • That's a great clip

    Thanks for posting :)

  • God bless Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The finest double act in history.

  • Thanks for sharing. Could you download it again at the normal speed. Their timing was amazing. I'm not sure this sentimental slow mo shows them at their funny best. Love them. Stan and Ollie forever.

  • My nan's sister was there on this day and she has a few pictures of the pair. It's a real shame that this comedy duo were not around anymore when I was born.

  • beautiful. thanks eric

  • This was at New Romney station ...The Romney ,Hythe and Dymchurch Railway was built as a private narrow gauge tourist line in the 1930's and runs about 18 miles/30km along the coast of Kent in Southeast England. The railway was used by the military during the war and had to be renovated before reopening. Stan and Ollie were still very popular in the UK after WW2 appearing at the London Palladium theatre..They agreed to come down and reopen this line,a bit of normality restored after the war.

  • Still we remember the boys still we feel them in our harts still whe seen them in our eyes still we love them.

  • many thanks for sharing these two legends

  • Danke ... Ihr wart Engel auf dieser Erde, ihr beide habt uns so viel Freude gemacht! Nie darf man euch beide vergessen! ... So gross wie ihr beide wird wohl kein Künstler mehr sein!

  • Very moving. Thanks for posting friend. 5out of 5

  • Wow! A very rare find! Anything showing 'the boys' is wonderful, regardless of the quality! Thanks so much for posting! Agreed about the This is Your Life show. The host so patronized Stan and Ollie! Stan would say about it later that he so regretted it. He had been planning a television program and he certainly was blindsided by doing it for free for the TIYL team! He was mad for a long time about it. And the way Ollie was treated, 'room for all 3 of you' for shame!!

  • fab just fab

  • Thanks for posting this! Any idea what station it was? UK? USA? I'm glad they made things funny in public appearences, I found their "this is your life" interview painful and felt a bit sorry for them. This is better :D

  • The station is on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Kent in England (still up and running narrow guage steam)

  • Thanks so much :-D

  • Thats great! Im from Bromley, Kent and even through this was before my time I feel somewhat honered!
