Power metal is missing the elements it had back then. It could be progressive such as Fates Warning, Crimson Glory and it could be a mix of heavy and thrash and even heavy and melodic without being slick and poppy.

@krevice This is power metal. What would you have expect? Old Riot was heavy metal before the line-up change when Tony Moore, the drummer and the bassist joined the band which led them into the mainstream with Thundersteel. Probably the most mainstream power metal album from the states.

One of the greatest lineups in metal history!! Awesome band. Saw them on the Thundersteel tour in Wash DC (The Bayou) and it was one of the greatest concerts ever. Tony Moore was superb live, as was the rest of the band.
