I have a simple solution. Cut back the government to what's constitutional (article, section 8. And no, the general welfare clause does not include entitlement programs!), Make sure defense is actually about defending the country, and not running an empire (which means you can probably cut way over half of our defense spending), cut all foreign aid, including israel, get rid of the departments, end the fed, no more bailouts, end war on drugs, control immigration. that's gotta do it!
Medical costs wont be a problem once we're allowed to use cannabis based medicines. It will cost as much as orange juice to cure yourself, that is if you don't want to grow it in your yard for free. We will certainly live much longer than 100, but we wont be sick, so neither Medicare nor Medicaid will not be needed.
This conservative says start by cutting everything 10% across the board. Then eliminate the Departments of Energy and Education, NEA, NPR, PBS, EPA etc, etc. Means test Social Security. Thats just off the top of my head. Create an incentive to cut in the budgeting process: give legislators 1% of every cut to direct to their own districts?

We spend 40 times more on our military than the average top twenty military spending nations (excluding the US). That, my friend, is ridiculous. Unsustainable. There would be a revolt if we knew how much our empire really cost. It's not that far away, imho. It's unsustainable. There is no way we can pay back our debts, debts that can't be paid, won't be.
