  • Only played Wipeout Pure and Pulse, even though this is way older then both of them. Looks a lot more fun. Epic soundtrack too.

  • Can I ask.. If I got this from the PSN store.. Can I use the analogue sticks? I'm used to using them from Wipeout HD nd don't wanna re-learn steering with the D-pad. Thanks

  • i have this game

  • music is amazing

  • Classic! I love Wip3out S.E.

  • Oh the memories. Love the Cold storage music tracks.

  • heh you did the whole aaa thing too huh?

  • what is the name of the track starting at minute 3.00 with the female voice later on?

  • @Raffaeledl nevermind, found it, Cold Storage - Cairodrome

  • :')

  • Wipeout HD kicks this game's butt, but I respect it because wihout it, no WipEout HD!

  • Honestly I almost never even play today's videogames. The art isn't in how amazing the graphics of a game can be. I still love Wave Race 64 and the first Wipeout and will play them anyday or whatever they sell today. So much fun. Even though I got my PSX back in 1996 I never supported the system much compared to the N64. Worked out well though, because now I'm getting back into Playstation and there's this massive library of games I've never played.

  • LOL funny watching this actually make me more excited to play the HD version on my PS3 in my opinion the handling of your ship in the HD version is totally unbalanced i keep slamming into the walls lol but that's my opinion i guess LMAO!!!!!

  • This game looks really bouncy. |:3

  • What's the name of the song in background?

  • @Chakra92 cold storage cariodrome :)

  • sweet game . men played it in first person perspective tho.... way more intense n cool.....

  • Remember the 90's? Those were the days when we thought those graphics were awesome and couldn't get better then that,

  • can anyone remember a similar game for the psx? I remember it from a demo, it was by some beach-rodes by night, and it was a racing game with these kind of veicheles, and you could crash down the feet of a building, and it would collapse

  • @zelly2k9 You're talking about Rollcage. You can download it for free on PC now from abandonia. Google abandonia rollcage and you'll see it - top link!

  • @mk2weber Oh yes, I should mention it's 100% legally free - it's abandonware

  • @mk2weber yes it was:D thank you very much

  • They've just released this for the Xperia Play.

  • does anyone know where i can download the soundtrack?

  • @FANGSinBLOOD You can download all of the CoLD SToRAGE music from Tim's official website. Google CoLD SToRAGE

  • this game is what got me into the techno music

  • Best Wipeout game ever, I sure wish they'd do a re-release with updated graphics but leave everything else the same.

  • @papatoony Well... they are releasing Wipeout 2048 (work name) for NPG/PSVita. BTW This game rules!

  • I love Wipeout!

I playing Wipout HD right now!

  • I played this on a demo disc with Twisted Metal 1.

  • @PhrenZeee

I too remember all too well the days playing WipeOut. It was indeed a top notch title.

But you cannot compare the game with contemporary titles. It's like comparing apples and pears.

You were happy with it then and that's all that matters. :-)

Personally, I've been gaming since the Commodore 64 era (now I prefer PS3) and indeed, games have changed dramatically over the years.

Right now, I'm enjoying WipeOut HD/Fury. Thank you Sony and those hackers, for free games!

  • I use to the demo of this game! :)

    Good times. X3

  • I remember playing this in my neighbors garage when I was about 9 :') Thought it was the best thing ever.

  • I thought Wipeout HD was a clone of Star Wars Racer. Apparently Racer was just a clone of the Wipeout series. ^^

  • i love the music from this game

  • This bring backs so many memories. Trying to fly those bloody things without a stick and only using the pad was a right bastard to learn but worth every moment. Everything about this game (the ships, the tracks, the music, the sound, the commentator, the speed, the logos and artwork) was just cool. Really hope we all get a few more titles in the years to come!

  • Meh, hasn't aged to well. I prefer to just get the soundtrack for it.

  • had some fun with this racing series.

  • Smoking a big joint and playing this game with some good friends, good times back then.

  • oooo what song is this?? I've never played the first Wipeout, I started on 2097. Might have to buy this one though, always wanted to play it.

  • Super Mario Kart layed the groundwork for great games like these. Fortunately, this series is alot funner than the Mario Kart series. Just my opinion though,

  • I don't even like electronic music. I like heavy metal and rock and roll but this soundtrack is so evil! I miss the dark themes in the wipeout games. They are still great but there no longer gloomy. This is the only racing game that freaked me out! Wipeout is one of my favorite series ever!

  • this was one of the first games i ever got for my psone, and its what got me into techno music

  • i don't like this game..... i think it's the lack of speed. But don't start insulting me again for my opinion. I hate people who do that.

  • @santiainen Because you need to control the speed. If you crash many times game over

  • @santiainen Lol! You're aloud an opinion. Are you looking for attention from trolls or something? I like this game but everyone is aloud not to. It just sounds silly when you say things similar to"I don't like this game! Ok everyone attack me now!!!". Rofl.

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer why would anybody say that.

  • @santiainen O_o

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer What?! :X

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer Anyways, i like faster games, that's why i don't like this so much. let say i like.... uh.... F-Zero and um..... Fast games, lol.

  • @santiainen I like fast games to. F-zero is a great games but there's more to racing games then just speed.

  • @santiainen

insulting people for their own opinions? yeah, I hate it when people do that to me too.

  • You had a great run there. :)

    STAY AWESOME! :)

  • I've been looking for the songs for ages!

  • fantastic game

  • cairodrome

  • yes

  • The original had the best music of the whole Wipeout series.

  • @Nickelodeon2002 because PS1>PS2>PS3...it sounds impossible but it's real!

  • @Nickelodeon2002

wipeout 2097 is the top one

    - ship damage

    - better handling (wipeout 1 is too hard, wipeout fusion is too easy)

    - imho, better music.. chemical brothers, prodigy...

  • wow its come really far to wipeout hd

  • this and porsche challenge used to be my fave!

  • Honestly I love how clear the graphics were on psx, but the floating feelng is greater on the Saturn, it is faster and also its d-pad is infinately better. I use to burn my thumbs with the psx version. I love both versions! but if I was stuck in a cave I'd take Saturns for the smoother ride. Personally

  • @DavyG2012 i play the game with a usb saturn pad on my ps3. so im getting PSone graphics with a saturn controller.

  • luv ps1 so much had to sell it though :(

  • my first PS1 game, classic, you can now get this on the PS store for a few £ going to get it to bring back the memorys.

  • SONY PS1-THE BEST CONSOLE EVER!!!

  • wipeout is a classic no offence but i would slam you so hard...

  • if you play it in FPS view its so damn fast and the screen tilts, looks so much better than playing it like this.

  • And with a neGcon ofcourse.

  • I remember when this game came out. I thought it sucked. I really really liked and own Wipeout XL. XL fixed everything wrong with the first one.

  • f-zero rules!!

  • This game has an awesome soundtrack.

  • Looks like a really slow version of F-Zero. Even the SNES version was faster than this.

  • If you want faster play in Rapier Class.

  • at 0:19 is that akuma's symbol from street fighter??? XD

  • Of all the Wipeout titles they've came up with so far, this one is always gonna be my favorite because of that kindof 'cyber-punk' feel it had. The pilots, the tracks, even the design of the team's logos and colors, all had this "90's sci-fi" feel to it witch has been slowly fading away in it's sequels. Not that the sequels are bad, the "perfect, super-advanced future" of the latest titles is nothing short of amazing, but none of em' will ever compare to the first and most classic.

    Wip3out FTW!

  • This game still looks tight today.

  • I agree that his game is intermediate. Using the up and down keys to direct the craft's nose is critical for top speeds and using the airbreaks is a no-no in my book.

  • played this when I was 6! ^^

  • I remember 1 driver ... Anastasia sch.... i dont know wut ... my fav kid video game and i miss it soo hard

  • The best tracks are Karbonis V,Korodera,Firestar and Silverstream, btw the dude sucks fume,he shouldn't be allowed to fly an AG craft.

  • Some of the best music ever made for a game are in WO1.I still have WO1 and an original 95 PSX,still working great.I'm one of the best WO pilot ever!

  • Good stuff. I have the complete original from 1995 CD for PSX but it is so worn that I just rebought it for the playstation Network on the PS3. I can put down some crazy times in this game as I used to over play it before I moved onto Wipeout 1097/XL.

  • fuckin love this game...i aint a gamer or anything just had it since i was like 8 and it just never gets old!....this guy aint tht good tho!...he fucks up a bit in the 2nd level...like u have to be be beatin the top redocd by over 10 seconds in every level haha thts a bit cocky sorry ...but whata game!

  • WipEout, Wipeout XL, Wipeout 3 and wipeout fusion is my favorite games in this entire series, i dont really get the psp wipeouts

  • I got this game included with the original Playstation for my 14th birthday. My 26th is approaching and this particular game still is a crucial part of my "vintage" gaming. One of the few examples of a game that can stand the test of time; WipEout had incredible graphics and a hell of a soundtrack.

    Long live WipEout!!!

  • Woah! I forgot all about this used to play it ALL the time!

  • Wipeout rocks, but playing it on an emulator like this is too slow- you need to play the real thing the way it was meant to be played.

  • I agree. I mean, fair enough, you can satisfy your need for speed and play Wipeout 64 on the Project64 emulator, but it's not the same as playing it on the actual 64...

  • @jkcwebs I tried wipeout 2097 with epsxe emulator and it was about 100% speed (i have also the real playstation)

  • I have the special edition... Thinking about selling it now since its PS1 and that I now could get a great amount of money out of it! :)

  • how much do you think you could get for it??

  • Well the manual is pretty thick, but I really dont know... This game is much more worth do since it some years older..

  • I have the special edition... Thinking about selling it now since its PS1 and that I now could get a great amount of money out of it! :)

  • Not a bad game, but i think F Zero X was better

  • Way better. I didn't know how to play this game. It wasn't selfexplanatory, like F-Zero was.

  • This was a game i used to play every day it was sooo fun =D

  • oh i loooooved this game and grafx, music.... maaan loved it

  • i have this game but i dont play it.. ^^

  • Thanks so much for the video. Amazing game - incredible that it still looks pretty good after all these years - much better than most PS1 games.

  • Nice driving. Nice music as well, got that track uploaded. :)

  • i love this game used to play it all the time when I was younger. But now i lost it :( gotta scope it out online i guess!

  • I own the Saturn version of the game, and it is only very slightly different from this. Very awesome game.

  • me to for 11 years!, the saturns d-pad and game speed are better. playing the psx one a while ago after all that time on the saturn I can clearly see the psx version has way! smoother graphics and resolution, the music and sounds ecco in the tunnels, the shield looks beautiful not like a rainbow net. The glitchs are less, it has 2 player and more advanced lighting effects. saturn is no:1, but I know the psx wins this time, unfortunatly buy quite a bit

  • wat does psx mean!

  • playstation 1.. psx means playstation x, that was the working title.

  • this game back in the day was the bombbb love tha game and still play it in my psp

  • My fault Christmas of 95 XP

  • This brings me back to Christmas of 96....Fine memories. It was great that the CD too was also a soundtrack....Im still trying to find it but luckly i already downloaded to my PC

  • If you are looking for the soundtrack Id suggest taking a look through

    gh.ffshrine. org

    (stupid google banning youtube links)

  • chaosruins, you legend, that video brings back really fond memories, that game raised the bar, and was a wonderful experience. currently playing wipeout 3 and crashing all over the place with icaras on rapier :P

  • you and i would have a pretty close race if it wer two player =)

  • It makes me sad that I never played the full version of this game. Only the demo1 version

  • U can download any ps1 game soundtrack (most games, even old ones like croc, mechwarrior 2, destruction derby and warcraft2) from galbadia hotel, google it, click on mp3's. I dl'd all the wipeout tracks there is..

  • One of the GREATEST gaming soundtracks ever!!!!!!!!

  • I like 'body in motion' better. Man, dont u? itss the best, most memorable track there is..

  • I remember this game when I was eight, I think. Wasn't too interested in game visuals or music at the time, but watching it now, I'm surprised at how well the game holds up after all these years...

  • Still looks and sounds better than anything released today

  • whats this song called??

  • Someone correct me if I'm wrong with any of these songs:

    1st song - "Cairodrome"

    2nd song - "Cardinal Dancer"

    3rd song - "Cold Comfort"

All of them were by Cold Storage.

  • i loved this game when i was little

  • Well done, I use AG systems ships too! Such a great game, and such a difficult game too... I've always managed to get the first place on every tracks, except Silverstar... I could never win this one and always used my 3 chances of qualification on it...

... And that's only the Venom Class!! The Rapier Class is a lot harder!!

  • I remeber watching a vid of this on a VHS that came with a mag, when ps1 1st came out.. it had varies tracks and was well :O

Since i juts got 3.40 OE-A for my PSP im gonna find my cd of it somewhere in my room and rip it n play it on my psp :D

  • WO1 was one of the first games I played on the PS1 and one of the reasons I got my own PS1. WO1's graphics still hold up today in my opinion. So smooth and so many colors. Awesome! I often still listen to the soundtrack while working on the computer. Best racer ever!

  • i ve only played w03 and fusión, and i´m interested in the first and second wipeout games. The music in wipeout 1 sounds so cool...

  • awesome game, the best in the series I reckon.
