Demonstration of reality of Truth of God's Word : See the post of the atheist here.
Rom8:7 "The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so." The natural mind cannot receive the things of God. Paul says that the sinful mind or carnal mind is hostile to God. It hates the very things of God.
Rom5:8 "But God shows his love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us." His Grace and Mercy are available to those who believe.
1Tim1:15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst.Rom5:6 For when we were yet without strength in due time Christ died for the ungodly.Act16:31Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.Heb2:3 So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? What will u do with Jesus?
God has revealed Himself in Creation - Romans 1:20 (Common English Bible) "Ever since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities God’s eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, because they are understood through the things God has made. So humans are without excuse. 21 Although they knew God, they didn’t honor God as God or thank him. Instead, their reasoning became pointless, and their foolish hearts were darkened."
Consider this: There has to be a 'First cause'. In order for something to be now - something has to have the power of being in itself (Eternal) otherwise we would be forced to believe that from nothing something comes. Think of it this way, If there were ever nothing what would be now? Nothing comes from nothing. But there is something. Look out your window into the sky and see ... Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God... Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
what other creatures of the world worship gods? Hmmmmmmmm. I wonder why we seem to be the only ones who place such importance on a higher being or God. I wonder if that hints at anything?
@rainifyoulike all of God's creation, with the exception of a few fallen angels, and all of mankind, worship the one true living God. whereas mankind worships everything but God. mankind worships trees, rocks, stars, animals, and worst of all themselves. the rest of creation knows who their Creator is, and gives praise, thanksgiving, and worship to him all the time in faithful obedience and reverence to his commands.
Who puts that man who's speaking in that position? I don't mean I don't agree with what he's teaching, I just couldn't stop thinking: why does he scream that much? Who's given him that much authority to be so rude and indelicate? They are so blind of whatever they're trying to do there.. It's become very common that kind of person. I despise them, totally. And you followers: don't agree with me? Forget me! Just don't waste your time with me. I have the right to have my own opinion, ok? Byee!
@simcult "Sad to know it's the twenty first century and we still believe in fairy tales."
You wanna qualify that statement? Or is empty rhetoric your game? After all, if the gospel is a "fairy tail" to you, but good news to me, one of us is obviously wrong.
@simcult So you are arguing that the action of killing his son to save us is contradictory to his nature of Holiness?
Well I'd say they are complementary. But I should have made my first response to you different.
Why couldn't God have forgiven us without a sacrifice?
If I drive a car into your house, there is damage. You can forgive me whether or not I pay for the damage. But you forgiving me will not repair the damage.
Sin = death, so sin costs life. Nature of God, Christian Theology.
@issacky Killing a son is complimentary to holiness? I would beg to differ... but this is ALL beside the point. You need to establish *demonstrable* evidence that your God even EXISTS before you can make ANY claim whatsoever to holiness, creation, child killing, whatever. Demonstrate God exists or our conversation cannot continue.
The reality is that a Christian cannot "demonstrate" conclusively that God exists any more than you can "demonstrate" conclusively that he does not exist. Both positions require an element of faith. It indeed takes faith to believe that God exists, but it also takes faith to believe that he does not exist. The burden of proof is not on Christians but on you. If we are wrong - then when we die we simply cease to exist. But if you are wrong...
@michaeldflint If Christians can't demonstrate God exists then the only position to take is to not believe the claims. Let me put it this way, if I claim that unicorns exist, and cannot demonstrate they do, is it then up to *you* to demonstrate to me that they don't? No, it's always up to the claimant to demonstrate evidence for the claims. Secondly, If you are "right" and there is a god then you have been intellectually dishonest in claiming god exists without any slice of evidence. I haven't.
@simcult - I didn't say Christians could not demonstrate that God exists - certainly we can. Our difficulty is in demonstrating it CONCLUSIVELY. I can prove the moon exists conclusively; but Belief in God does require an exercise of faith. The evidence of God's existence is certainly strong, but I still have to exercise faith to get from evidence to belief. Your position is absolutely no different! You cannot prove that God does NOT exist! It requires faith on your part NOT to believe!
@michaeldflint 1) No you can't demonstrate your God exists, otherwise we (and millions of others) wouldn't be having this conversation. We don't debate whether the moon exists because it is *evident" that it does. We debate whether God exists because the evidence is WEAK (not strong).
2) Faith requires you to believe without reasonable evidence - that's it's very definition.
3) Atheists do NOT proclaim God does *not* exist (just as they don't proclaim Unicorns don't exist).
@simcult anytime anyone should dare to try and prove God's existence does in the same step call God a liar. for it is God himself who has declared the proof of his own existence being self-evident through his creation and in our consciences. to then try to proceed to point out these proofs would to state that what God declared to be already evident is to call him a liar in trying to bring forth more convincing evidence then has already been provided by God himself.
@HermitintheRain God is not self-evident, otherwise me (and millions like me) wouldn't deny it, we wouldn't be having this conversation and there would be no concept of 'faith'.
@simcult it is not proof of God's existence that is the issue, but rather how a heart might silence the conscience that declares over and over and over again the reality of God in every man's soul. all the efforts of man at darkening and deafening the heart to that conscience will found to be in vain. even in the darkest deepest hell, the voice of God's wrath will ring louder than anything around.
@simcult your faith is by definition that which is believed upon without reasonable evidence; or more accurately despite the overwhelming evidence stamped in every gene of your being. but God's definition of faith is the evidence of things hoped for, the expectation of things not seen. evidence of which is so great it takes greater efforts at delusion and self-deception to reject the truth that is ever before all of us.
@simcult the existence of God is not a subject up for debate. you may find many who will foolishly fall into the trap of trying to prove God's existence. but that is all that it is: a fool's trap. God has not called anyone to prove his existence. God himself has provided all the evidence that is required.
@HermitintheRain Of course the existence of God is up for debate - it's a factual claim, there IS either a God, or there isn't - all factual claims are up for debate. Unfortunately there is no evidence for this claim, hence why I don't believe it. Anyway you have the right to believe if you like, but you can't assert that there is any credible evidence for God and get away with it; people like me will always call you out.
Knowledge is defined as "expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education" - how is this demonstrated? I'm typing some information to you here over the internet, it's source is my brain, the information has come through education. This phenomena is demonstrated every single day.
In response to Sanosuke, God has predestined us, however, the predestination falls in the category of "it is not the Father's will that none should perish, but that all should have ever lasting life." In Genesis, God foretold many of times that He would be making a sacrifice for all of mankind, to restore the fellowship and relationship back to Him. It was already decided in the beginning that Jesus Christ-God's only Son, be the atonement for all mankind. God's plan=salvation=predestination.
I have a question.. if every man's fate is predestined by God, then why did Jesus tell us to go preach the gospel? what would be the point of that really? If you can convince me that predestination is true, then I will never bother to go preach to anyone.. and that would seem to me like an act of satan in my life..
Sproul is the only- and I mean the ONLY- clergyman on the radio or TV I have any respect for. Obviously, the guy can read: what a refreshing difference.
For God so loved the elect, that He gave His only Son, that whomsoever He had chosen to not perish but have eternal life should believe in Him. For God sent His Son to condemn the world, and to save the elect.
I am not saying you are wrong, I am only trying to better understand both positions. If you are correct about John 3:16, then how do you interpret John 6:37? After all, it does say, "..all that the Father gives me..." rather than, "all those whom decide to come to the Father..."
BTW, these people have repented, they have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, the Lord has opened their eyes. You would condemn them anyway, and solely for being mistaken about who else's eyes the Lord might open?
Do you realize you sound just like Richard Dawkins? In the face of sound argument, you continue to press your baseless assertions forward anyway. Nice job of showing just how illogical and irrational your comment is. Nice job of showing just how much of a closet Calvinist you truly are.
John 12:32 - "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." Here, Jesus is speaking about all different kinds of peoples, that is, people from all nations, ethnicities, backgrounds, etc. He is not speaking of every single person who will ever live.
Very good message in a day where many churches try to hold love of God as either the only attribute or the chief attribute it is good to hear ministers emphasising the holiness of God.
We are all born in sin-Pslm 51:5- The cross bought the church only-ACTS 20:28-He died to save HIS people-Matt 1:21- His Life was a ransom for "many" not all-Matt 20:28- His blood was poured out for "many" not all-Matt 26:28. We all deserve His Holy Justice-to be thrown in the lake of fire-BUT GOD-Ephes 2:4 NARROW is the gate to salvation & FEW will find it-Matt 7:13,14 God does not save everyone ONLY THOSE HE GIVES THE GIFT OF FAITH TO & THEY BELIEVE. READ ALL OF JOHN 3 NOT just 16 -MARANATHA!
well its faults, becuz the Bible made it clear that Jesus died for all men.. when it talks about predestination. its refering to the for-knowlege of God.. He knew from eternity past who would be saved...
truth cares not what you think of it. if you choose not to believe that which doesn't appeal to you, i suppose you believe that 9/11, the oklahoma city bombing, the haitian earthquake, etc. didn't happen.
i'm not saying whether i agree or disagree with sproul, but, remember - you don't get to customize truth to fit your preferences,

Question, how can people believe in a religion that doesnt mention anything about beings from other galaxies and planets when there is plenty of evidence that they are among us. If you are not a sinner you just don´t need jesus´ sacrifice, He came to save sinners to convert them into a new creature, which is a justified sinner...Bro, if you are not a sinner no need justification either. I which I was soo perfect on my own, since i´m not, I need Jesus´ to justify me.
First any one can say anything about anything, but God knows man heart, do you know man´s heart?, then you might think you are god. How can a man talk so lightly about there fellow brother?. Only God can judge cuz he is perfect...are you perfect?, can you judge others?, if so then you might think you are god. poor is the man who takes God place, cuz he will never know him, unless God himself redeem his heart,
RC Sproul's "The Holiness of God' series has definitely had a great impact on my spiritual growth and sound understanding in Christianity. I strongly recommend either getting the video series or book.
how did he conclude that Jesus (peace and blessing be upon him) said holy three times!? and does that mean he was saying to his disciples that he is god of some sort to be worshipped? or holy in the sense that he is sent by God Almighty?
To corroborate this, notice in Revelation, Jesus is referred to as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the ending, which was and is and is to come, the Almighty" (1:8). Then, note that in 4:8, when the six-winged angels worship before the throne of God, they refer to him as "holy, holy, holy, the Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come." The holiness of God is one and same with the holiness of Christ who is here in Unity through Trinity with God.
Christ's Unity by Trinity with God is further evidenced in Revelation 5 as he is worshipped along with the thrice "holy" God. Notice that every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth worship both "Him who sits on the throne and the Lamb" (5:11-13), and ascribe to them the very same attributes of power and majesty. It is significant that both Christ and God are both referred to as...

The Trinity is a doctrine made by man. The word 'Trinity' is no where found in the Bible (even in the original Hebrew & Greek). Catholicism created it. It can be very hard to understand because it is not scripture.
are equivalent to A and Z, but does not mean the beginning and ending as you said. So according to this? do you believe that he is God (the father in heaven) or the one who was on earth teaching his disciples?
"He who was and is and is to come, the Almighty." By definition, the word "Almighty" is indivisible, referring to all power. It cannot be shared, it can only be owned by one. Yet, many times Christ is ascribed as "only Pontentate (I Timothy 6:15-16) as well as "Almighty" as seen here in Revelation. This unity between Christ and God is not unique to Revelation. Isaiah prophesied, "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and his name shall be called...The Mighty God" (Isa. 9:6).
Just finished reading this book not long ago. Like many of R.C.'s books, it is written so that almost anyone can comprehend certain truths about our God. If you are looking to further your understanding of where we stand in relation to our Creator, or if you want an easy to read "faith sharpener" this is a book for you.

Here is the Calvinist translation of John 3:16
For God so loved the elect, that He gave His only Son, that whomsoever He had chosen to not perish but have eternal life should believe in Him. For God sent His Son to condemn the world, and to save the elect.
calvinismisacult 1 year ago
I am not saying you are wrong, I am only trying to better understand both positions. If you are correct about John 3:16, then how do you interpret John 6:37? After all, it does say, "..all that the Father gives me..." rather than, "all those whom decide to come to the Father..."
BTW, these people have repented, they have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord, the Lord has opened their eyes. You would condemn them anyway, and solely for being mistaken about who else's eyes the Lord might open?

Calvinism is false.

@calvinismisacult
Do you realize you sound just like Richard Dawkins? In the face of sound argument, you continue to press your baseless assertions forward anyway. Nice job of showing just how illogical and irrational your comment is. Nice job of showing just how much of a closet Calvinist you truly are.
rofyle 1 year ago
John 12:32 - "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." Here, Jesus is speaking about all different kinds of peoples, that is, people from all nations, ethnicities, backgrounds, etc. He is not speaking of every single person who will ever live.

Very good message in a day where many churches try to hold love of God as either the only attribute or the chief attribute it is good to hear ministers emphasising the holiness of God.

how can God be holy if he condemns people to hell on a dice roll?
reyjacobs 2 years ago
@reyjacobs Hell is not a choice of God but a Choice of Man my friend. There is no randomness to it at all. It is a choice.

yes in theology we call that the doctrin of the RETROBATE
There are tons of verses in John and other books but the best is in Romans 9 11 - 23
EZK37 2 years ago
well its faults, becuz the Bible made it clear that Jesus died for all men.. when it talks about predestination. its refering to the for-knowlege of God.. He knew from eternity past who would be saved...
jarcar101 2 years ago
@jarcar101
Yes, Sproul believes the Bible, which teaches exactly that. It's called the doctrine of reprobation.
queenfoursuited 2 years ago
@jarcar101 Man is doomed to hell without God. It is an uncomfortable but irrefutable truth.

@kjdavey "Man is doomed to hell without God." contradicts "Hell is not a choice of God but a Choice of Man my friend." completely.

truth cares not what you think of it. if you choose not to believe that which doesn't appeal to you, i suppose you believe that 9/11, the oklahoma city bombing, the haitian earthquake, etc. didn't happen.
i'm not saying whether i agree or disagree with sproul, but, remember - you don't get to customize truth to fit your preferences,

Question, how can people believe in a religion that doesnt mention anything about beings from other galaxies and planets when there is plenty of evidence that they are among us. That really bothers me. Proof that aliens are more advanced than man, Everyone who is open minded, watch Bob Lazar interview parts 1-6 and it might make you feel different. This man Lazar, worked on advanced propulsion at S-4, a facility next to Area 51. He is also the victim of government cover up. He also passed a poly

If you are not a sinner you just don´t need jesus´ sacrifice, He came to save sinners to convert them into a new creature, which is a justified sinner...Bro, if you are not a sinner no need justification either. I which I was soo perfect on my own, since i´m not, I need Jesus´ to justify me.
papirey33 2 years ago
First any one can say anything about anything, but God knows man heart, do you know man´s heart?, then you might think you are god. How can a man talk so lightly about there fellow brother?. Only God can judge cuz he is perfect...are you perfect?, can you judge others?, if so then you might think you are god. poor is the man who takes God place, cuz he will never know him, unless God himself redeem his heart,

I don't understand !!
how did he conclude that Jesus (peace and blessing be upon him) said holy three times!? and does that mean he was saying to his disciples that he is god of some sort to be worshipped? or holy in the sense that he is sent by God Almighty?
lets open a discussion guys
peace

To corroborate this, notice in Revelation, Jesus is referred to as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning, and the ending, which was and is and is to come, the Almighty" (1:8). Then, note that in 4:8, when the six-winged angels worship before the throne of God, they refer to him as "holy, holy, holy, the Lord God Almighty, which was and is and is to come." The holiness of God is one and same with the holiness of Christ who is here in Unity through Trinity with God.
livrevoar 2 years ago
Christ's Unity by Trinity with God is further evidenced in Revelation 5 as he is worshipped along with the thrice "holy" God. Notice that every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth worship both "Him who sits on the throne and the Lamb" (5:11-13), and ascribe to them the very same attributes of power and majesty. It is significant that both Christ and God are both referred to as...

Unity and Trinity !!!???

The Trinity is a doctrine made by man. The word 'Trinity' is no where found in the Bible (even in the original Hebrew & Greek). Catholicism created it. It can be very hard to understand because it is not scripture.
NobodySpecial85 2 years ago
By the way brother, Alpha and Omega
are equivalent to A and Z, but does not mean the beginning and ending as you said. So according to this? do you believe that he is God (the father in heaven) or the one who was on earth teaching his disciples?
omarqatami83 2 years ago
