  • Ofcourse si Cara Subijano po ang NAg Host sa UAAP Season Noong 1994 Hanggang 1998 Bago Siya Nag Resign at NAg Pamilya Naalala ko nga

  • Ang luluwag pala ng pepsquad outfit before. :/

  • si TL czar! hahahaha

  • ang bilis naman ng spelling nila :)

  • NAKAKAtawa yung mga pyramids before! hahaha!

  • In fairness, ang taas ng pyramid! One La Salle! Ü

  • Thanks for the post! Our PEP President then was Geof Gimenez.

  • @tontonsevilla

Geoffrey Jimenez. that dude in undercut and eternally clad in soccer shoes lol. Yeah, I remember him, last of the presidents under traditional cheering DLSU Pep Squad, as I recall. It began to mutate to pyramidal cheering after him. Yeah, it's a bit sentimental thinkin' how much we've grown after all these years. Pare, naalala mo yung stokwa days natin nung college, sleep anywhere talking about these things over cheap tanduay or ginebra bilog/kwadro kantos lol.

  • @ventadamanila what minute (part of the vid) where i can see geoffrey jimenez na naka undercut? thanks

  • Thanks for the post! The PEP President then was Geof Gimenez. He emailed us this link. This event is 15 years old!

  • Ventadamanila! Thanks for the post! The Pep Squad President during this time was Geof Gimenez. He found this video and emailed it to us. Im sure his heart is pounding watching this. This event is 15 years old. Wow!

  • bakit parang 1970 pa ata to. kapanahonan ni larry bird. haha

  • @bluewhitefight Based on your username, i assume you are from Ateneo or an Ateneo supporter. Sir/Mam, please be reminded that your statements and choice of words reflect the kind of attitude you have and the kind of person your school/community has transformed you. I have Atenean friends and they are FAR from the kind of attitude you have. Ateneo has brought up every student into a good Christian. You are such a disgrace to the Ateneo community.

  • Uso na HD nun! HAHA

  • Animo La Salle!!! BS Computer Science 2006 here. I could still remember during intrams.. shouting Artians! woot! woot! hehe..I'm under College of Arts and Science eh.. kaya proud lasalista and proud na artians na dn.

    Parang

    SSC-R SSC-R Bravo Baste!

  • cool history! animo pride was high during this time. Bumakaya and more revived cheers were brought back this time as well. Fresh smelling and greenish area of the Marian Quad would end up as brown land because of practices. Those were the days! >--->

  • galing nman...nkakatakot yung pyramid

  • nice, old school :)

  • wow gnyn pa pla ang araneta noon,.,.hehe,.,.galing2.,,.pero iba parin ang ganda at gwapong a salista.,,.,,naman!! Signum Fidei...Animo LA SALLE!!

  • woohoo.! ANIMO LA SALLE!!!!

  • lumang uaap RAKenROL

  • .pansin ko lng,

    .ngiting ngiti sila :D

  • wow! blast from the past hehe =)

ID94 and 49th ENG here.. i could still remember them practicing somewhere around marian quadrangle.. those were the days, im getting old. i need to fly back home and visit =(

  • However, I must say that each generation has its own thing. We like the loud drums and we like the pyramids =) It just looks COOL (pardon the use of a generation-Y term).

But like I said, we appreciate this video...which, well, I already consider as "retro" =)

  • That's right, each generation has their mark. Of course you have to listen to what your generation is asking. The new pep squad has taken out the traditional run around the court to give way to more pyramids. I remember back in then, the oldies naman were asking us to take out the drums and "ocho" to give way to trumpets just like the 1960s. We stuck to the drums. Haha.

  • Wow, 1995. And I am an ID 105!! Great vid though ventadamanila. Thanks for that. I like the cheering =)

I don't really know why but we were never taught those old cheers (like I don't know the "Green Archer Song"). Most students know the cheers used during the games now - i.e. Rektikano, Boomakaya, LS spelling 3 times). Maybe some the older batch can teach us a thing or two about the old cheers.

  • * edit: : Maybe some of the older batch...

  • In 1995, the DLSU Pep Squad was heavier on yells and never did without the traditional run around the court. The character of cheering then was communicating with the crowd and show of force rather than showmanship. This video is in memory of our dying traditions. Animo La Salle!

  • The Spirit of Faith & Zeal drives us...Saint Jean Baptiste de La Salle

  • Wow! the last part was really awesome :D

  • I remember this... I think this was the time when a girl fell badly during their stunts...

  • Ito na cguro ang pinaka maganda na performance ng DLSU... Kso dti pato ha? paki-post nmn poh ung placing...

  • 1-UST

    2-DLSU

    3-UP

  • thanks for posting the result... Ang ganda nito hnd katulad ng mga routie ngaun(all schools) na puro show of talents lng gnito pla dati the audience ang the cheerleaders are connecting w/ each other... Sana maulit uli ang ganitong performance ng DLSU... mantakin moh natalo pa ang UP... Kc ganito dpat ang mga performance... Thanks ulit...

  • Your welcome. I so much agree with you. I miss the cheering style of the 1990s when cheerleaders were really cheer LEADERS who led the crowd in cheering and not a bunch of American Idol performers. I wish the Pep Squad would return the traditional run around the court as well. Ngayon kasi, kung kelan lang ganahan eh.

But I can't blame them either. Generation nila yon eh. Maybe that is what their generation is asking for. I remember back in the 1990s ...

  • ... I remember back in the 1990s, the 1960s Squad naman was asking us to get rid of the drums and return to trumpets. Of course we found it dorky, coming the from the violent 1990s. Haha. It's the same with the new generation of Pep Squad. We from the 1990s find those pyramids gay and especially the way they walk instead of run. But maybe their generation finds the pyramids majestic. I don't know. Just my opinion. =)

  • ang ganda!!! la salle is more of than just a school pla hah... Pls.post m0h din ung iang video d2... 4 me the true rivalry in the cdc are between la salle and ust.... Tradition is tradition and 4 me traditional cheerings are the best.... Nowadays i findthe retikano cheer of la salle more interesting... again, pls. post the other video during 1995 in cdc...

  • Wow! That's great may video nung 1995. nag 1st runner up ata dito ang DLSU...

  • Animo La Salle...Fight!

  • Strawberry Shortcake was cheered first then Heidi in was a chain cheer.

Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry pie was something our Irish Christian Brothers loved back then and it was similar to a sweet Victory that we all longed for.

  • "Zama Zipa Zam", was coined from "Shazam", a comic book phrase shouted out by Captain Marvel. The cheer means to Power up.

Jose Cusia was the Central Governor during the Aquino & Ramos administration, he was part of the (De La Salle Mafia), a power block that held very influential positions in government.

  • Correction - Jose Cusia, Central Bank Governor.

You should invite our more notable alumni cheerleaders to perform with the present squad during half time just like in our earlier days in the UAAP.

  • Trivia: 1. De La Salle was the first school in the NCAA and in the UAAP to have lady cheerleaders.

    2. The De La Salle cheering squad was formed in 1924 with only 4 guys.

  • "The De La Salle cheering squad was formed in 1924 with only 4 guys."

I believe they were called the Yell Commanders. =)

  • It's sad a lot of our older and better battle cheers and fight songs are no longer being heard. 1. The Green Archer Song 2. Aim Your Arrows Higher Song 3. Animo Green Cheer 4. Aim High La Salle Song 5. Sagitta de Salla ( Arrows of La Salle) and many more...

  • Notable De La Salle Cheerleaders:

    1.Don Paquito Ortigas -LSGH

    3.Ambassador Ramon del Rosario

    4.Pinky Webb - ABS-CBN News

  • I think former Senator Cuisia was also a cheerleader?

  • GREEN ARCHER SONG Circa 1930's (Bugle blast) Rah! Rah! Rah! (Bugle blast) Rah! Rah! Rah! On into the fight Green Archers, (Rah!) Fight to victory, (GREEN! WHITE! FIGHT!) For LA SALLE, you valiant marchers (Rah!) Ever fighters be. (Rah! Rah! Rah!) Glory for LA SALLE, Green Archers (FIGHT!) Our motto ever be, (GREEN! WHITE! FIGHT!) Let your arrows fly true, Archers Till we down the enemy. (FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!) Repeat
  • yan pala ung ginaya ng mapua, ung unang yell nila. hehehe..

    viva mapua!

  • i like this better than their 2007 performance.

    horrible moment that was...

  • btw why was the ls spelling fast and done only once??

  • That was the traditional pace. It's the newer versions that were delivered slower than usual.

  • Although the paces differ from time to time since generations are unique. For example, our generation does not pivot when cheering the Haydee but generations before us did. La Salle Zobel was the last to maintain the pivoting before adapting to the simpler versions of today. Although I barely hear Haydee nowadays.

  • nice! even the throws were differt and the drums were really loud... were any of the members then present during this year's welcoming party?

  • "were any of the members then present during this year's welcoming party?"

Leo Ferrer, Tonton Sevilla, Arnie Herrera, Marlo Aviñante.

I'm not sure if all of these guys were at the party but they are the ones who frequent it who also was part of the 1995 DLSU Pep Squad.

  • I'm sure you guys know Leo Ferrer. He is managing the squad this year. 1995 was Leo Ferrer's second year in the Pep Squad. You will see Leo in the exit run around the court.

  • Derecho LaSalle on the last part was copied from Letran Signature Yell

  • I think it was Letran who copied it from La Salle Hehe!

Other cheers originally from La Salle but copied by other schools:

    UP Fight - originally Zamazipazam!

    Go Uste - G! R! Double E! N! A,R,C! H! E,R,S! Green ARchers!

Go UE - obviously GO La Salle! Hehe!

  • Pre-War cheerleaders Amb. Ramon del Rosario, who donated the main building of the DLSC Canlubang campus and Don Paquito Ortigas who also donated the LSGH campus were then called the LSC Yell Commanders.

Trivia: Did you know that LSC Yell Commander Don Paquito Ortigas loved his alma mater so much that he coined the name of GreenHills Sudv. after the LSC Green Archers

  • The Spirit of Faith & Zeal drives us... Saint Jean Baptiste de La Salle

  • parang fastforward ng mga cheers ngayon ah haha!

  • Sana De La Salle Yell Commanders nalang ulit name ng pep squad. Mas cute, e. :))

  • In the 1980s, there were suggestions to call the squad GGG or Green Groovy Group. This was to match Ateneo's BBB or Blue Babble Battalion. Haha.

Of course, this was not taken seriously.

  • wow! classic! beautiful cheering :)

i also miss watching them do the rounds.

  • yell commanders?

  • bakit puro drums....

watch out for the uphsd perpsquad on ncaa 84th season

  • UST ata nagsimula gumamit ng canned music in late 90's (just a rumor though)

  • Not really, everybody else was using canned music in the 1990s except La Salle and Ateneo. UST followed suit by reviving the Yellow Jackets, followed by UE. Are any of the squads using canned music during CDC? I haven't seen the competition in years.

  • Canned music was not allowed from 1995-1997. All squads used their school band or drummers. It was not a cheerdancing competition back then.

  • parang 80s ito not 90s. so luma eh. ang mga la sallians, that time parang di makabasag pinggan. hahaha!

  • Would you believe sa VHS pa naka-record yan, pinalipat ko lang sa VCD? Hehe! Well, technically this batch bordered the 80s and 90s generation so they still have some bagets aura among them.

  • kahit pala rich ka mapa- la sallians man, pag inabot ka sa ganitong dekada, baduy ang pananamit mo. kaiba sa generation ngayon. oh well, ayan ang uso noong 90s. :)

  • Sinabi mo. The 1990s was a very anti-glamor generation. Grunge Era eh. Everybody was wearing plain clothes. Fashion was dead and hairdressers running out of business. Uso yung long hair haha!

  • its nice to see how the CDC was held eons ago. This was the when Jollibee still sponsored it right?,. Can someone please post UST's routine(If ever there is), I would love to see how they perform in the early years of CDC. not to mention their "Snappy" pyramids,. XD

  • EDIT: This was when...*

  • During the 1990s, La Salle and Ateneo were the only schools getting all the attention from media. Unlike today that everybody is given fair exposure. UP and UST didn't have so much school spirit in them unlike today. I don't think they even bothered to record themselves hehe. As such, I only recorded La Salle and Ateneo. Sorry. =)

  • i love old school cheering :)

  • lady pep squad, nakakalibog!

  • Hmmm, sana mag-mentor kayo sa Pep Squad ngayon. I have tough love towards our Pep Squad. They need to improve---!!!! Andun na sila nung 2003-2004 e. Nawala nanaman yung momentum. Tsk.

  • I suggest you change your president. Hehe. Nothing personal but he's hardly visible to keep you united.

  • Visit DLSU, they really need you. I mean, siguro nga ayaw nila talaga sa suggestions pero iba parin yung pag andun yung presence niyo. I really hope they learned their lesson sa AL SALLE. Ngayon kasi parang naging proof siya na stupid ang mga La Sallians. Tsk, malaki ang nakataya. It's an issue of representation.

  • samin ung initiation hinuhubaran .. as in walang suot, kea dami nag stostop na tryouts kc naririnig nla ung mga ganung gawain ng squad namin (di ko na ituturo particular La Salle school pero may 2 La salle school na gngwa un. It sucks tlga kc gumaganti at gumaganti ung higher batch sa lower batch and domino effect na

  • obviously the two taft based green school. hanggang naun pa ba ginagawa pa rin yan?

  • opo, 3 la salle schools po pla ung gmgwa nun, LSGH din ata

  • sorry to break your word but... lsgh does not do that naked thing. i'm a freshman pep squad. i should know kasi hindi nila ginawa samin until now. by the way, both high school and grade school pep does not do that kind of initiation on lsgh.

  • I said "ata" so I was no sure, pero may nagsabi sakin nanggaling daw un sa LSGH, or pep from LSGH na sumali sa pep ng ibang Lasalle kea nauso ung initiation, anyway kung di totoo, never mind =) animo la salle

  • yahh actaully, bka hindi ko lang inabot yung ganung kind of hell week.

  • Grabe angas talaga nung takbo around the court. Sana ibalik ng pep squad. Also sana damihan nila yung acrobatics and dancing nila, hindi yung puro pyramids.

  • grabe fun siguro makita tong batch na ito ngayon na ginagawa ulit un!

  • Mahihina na mga tuhod namin haha! Time flies, I didn't even realize antique na jacket ko. Yah, Haydee was the standard closing cheer during the 1990s at hindi pa bawal mag-arrow stance that time. I have the Ateneo BBB and CADS 1995 kaya lang baka marami magalit, the officials forced them out of the court for overstaying. If I get a go signal from the Ateneans then I'll post. =)

  • umm atenean po ako...hehehe sige naman po pwede pa post kasi gusto ko rin makita squad namin nung 1995!hehehe thanks!

  • Ok, just search "ateneo bbb 1995 from time to time. =)

  • yehey! thanks po!

  • naging uso po ba sa pep squad 95 nyu ung "half life half life"?

  • Ano yon? I guess not. Hehe. Our time the squad ran around the court before and after cheering. It gave the squad the image of "angas". Tinaggal ng current squad yung takbo eh, mukha na tuloy sila mga bading with their pyramids and all. Hehe.

  • sana may magpost din ng sa UST!

  • this is so cool! old school!

  • the crucifix is so stupid

  • They used Haydee... :)

  • That was the first year the squad increased the number of girls beyond 6. DLSU won 2nd place during this year. Notice there wasnt much emphasis on pyramids and more of traditional. I miss the the way they run around the court before and after a set. Show of force. I don't know why the current squad doesn't do that anymore.

  • wow,old school. albeit im from ateneo.

just an observation, pag old school pala, parang slow kumilos cheerdancers & it seems there's no rivalry (e.g. ateneo- dlsu or up- ust) in the mind & heart of everyone. 1995, i was 13. wla pa sa mind ko ang rivalry ng ateneo- la salle though my dream school that time tlga was ateneo.

  • the cheerdancers 2day, around 29- 32 y/o na. grabe. d na cguro sexy ngaun mga cheerdancers, hehehe. others looked poor, no sarcasm intended. oh well, low pa tuition nun.nice vid, cool!

  • i know some of them and they still are as hot as ever, maturity does have its advantages. Inflation notwithstanding, our tuition then should be as much as what the tuition is now. "Others looked poor"? Unless anak ka ni Henry Sy, you should get over yourself.

  • back when i was 5 or 6? 9 years before i get to be a dlsz pep squad, haha. cool.

  • shet, ang ganda ng ganitong videos. hahaha. :)) old school!

  • D-L-S-U

    DLSU ANIMO LA SALLE!

  • wow 1995 season of uaap. thanks for posting! hope you'll post more. animo la salle!
