@AlmostaFlipinSkater Maybe it was rated badly because the album was not intended to be a punk album. And I know Savior's a song, I said it was, and when I said album, I was referring to the album it belonged to. Rise Against has grown from the punk genre since 2008.
As a statement to the Old vs New, I saw them live (even talked to them after the show) Older songs such as Blood Red White and Blue were all played with much more enthusiasm from the band, more fire, more passion. And while Savior was known by more of the crowd those who did know the old songs let Rise Against know that they were much appreciated. (I was front row in St. Augi and could barely talk/hear after the show)

And also there were a few people dressed like harcore punks knew the old songs but not really the new ones... altogether I'd say it evened out. And I agree with the more passion.

Last night, I was listening to this album for about the 100th time. I never understood why everyone raved about this album. I enjoyed it just the same as I had their other albums.
When I got to this song, I was surprised. How did I not notice the beautiful combination of Tim's melody and the Instrumental elements of this song before? I listened to the rest of the album and started noticing other things as well. Torches seemed so much more beautiful. I realise, now how amazing this album is.
Rise Against has become mainstream. But that doesn't stop me listening to their older stuff. Sure the "Appeal to Reason" Album wasn't their best, but it was worth the £4.99 I payed for it.

Tis is the Rise Against we all know and love!! Some of their newest stuff (Appeal to Reason) has taken a different path...It's what bands do. Take the sucess of Madonna as an example. I've stayed a loyal fan and having heard some of their vinyl releases (Sight Unseen, Death Blossoms)..I'm really excited to know they are reverting to a closer version of the music that got them where they are!!

pisses me off how stupid ass people like lil' wayne and nikki minaj can make music out crap. Rise against's music has a meaning to every song. they don't sing about sex. they sing about how life really is.

Tis is the Rise Against we all know and love!! Some of their newest stuff (Appeal to Reason) has taken a different path...It's what bands do. Take the sucess of Madonna as an example. I've stayed a loyal fan and having heard some of their vinyl releases (Sight Unseen, Death Blossoms)..I'm really excited to know they are reverting to a closer version of the music that got them where they are!!

This is my favorite song ever from them and I will always adore Rise Against's classics.
However, they're still awesome. Appeal to Reason is as epic of an album as the rest, and I know their next work of art will hold up to their standard.
Plus, I saw them back in 07 and then this December, and their shows are more intense than ever.
Live on, Rise Against, you inspire.
