This is "square form" as taught by Yang Wabiu to (her teachers) Mr. and Mrs. Chow in Hong Kong. Yang Wabiu was "indoor" student and disciple of Wu Jianquan who solidified Wu Style Taiji. From what I read of Chow's biography, they had rigorous training, were excellent students and worked very hard to pass on what they learn to future generations. Square is a good template for later learning of a "round" form. "Pauses" that she demonstrates provide opportunity for student's to check form.
Like the idea of opposite color shoes, beginners do have difficulties with r. & l. adding that to traditional learning is quite alot to ask. Your teachers were students of Yang Huabiao, so was Stephen Hwa. He uses a blue strip on his l. foot and l. arm to differentiate l. from r. for beginners...looks like blue painters tape. Nice to see tradition being carried on...teaching 'square' form is a labor of patience for both student and teacher...especially in the space age.

I may give her program a try, but am I the only one distracted by those ridiculous hanging, wrinkled sheets?
