@Gig540 It's a "Blue" King style track. they are still made today only without the seats and steering wheels.Hasse Nielsen is one of the builders. The layout is the same but with varying amounts of banking in the turns. Also the turn radius' . Check out Slot Cars of Katy here on youtube.
Well, I don't know where I have been for the last 45 years, but I NEVER saw anything like this! This is great! And so the steering was used in the corners so that if you didn't steer the car stopped? Now that MUST have helped with competition instead of just who has the fastest slot. I know you get competition by slowing down or speeding up in and out of a corner, but this would really complicate things. In our day of video games and different racing views, we should be able to do this well!
the old 1/24th allstate slotcars were like those, you had a controller with a steering wheel and button for gas and brakes. i sometimes see them on ebay, some of the complete restored sets go for over 800.00, and you only get about 26 ft of track.
When you got to a corner, you had to turn the steering wheel in that direction or the car stopped. Again the wheel had to be straight for the straights. It was made by American Model Raceways and used at fairs, and exibitions like the CNE Canadian National Exibition into the 70's but replaced by hand speed controllers in slot car raceways early on. The cars at the CNE were clipped into the track and wouldn't de-slot.
@michaelr2331 There is also a king slotcar track in Miamisburg (spelling) Ohio.

LOVE IT!

Record lap time on a blue king these days is around 1.5 seconds! Maybe less now.

Excellent idea, to make steering necessary in the corners; the unexperienced driver/ess slows down (and keeps the slotcar on track and sane)

Awesome thanks for sharing! The track kind of looks like the "Purple Mile" Any chance it is?

What a great video of slot car history. A genuine American blue king before they abandoned the steering wheels. Truly a fantastic find.
