Put a stabilizer on that Bitc* and it most likely wouldn't have happened. Little money for that expensive repair! LESSON LEARNED...fyi those that don't k much: ease off the gas and do not chop the throttle!
There's a pretty significant difference between stopping on the track to help someone and "stopping on the track" to avoid hitting something. Number 11 fixated on the crash so at that point it was either slow down or keep speed and slam into the crashed bike. He was probably in 3rd gear through that back section and panic braked, so he was fishing for first when he stopped. He moved off the race line and then reentered the track and pitted. I don't see the problem.
Love hearing these stupid yanks talk about what the rider should have done. Like you actually have any corners in the USA.... Stick to your harleys, burger munchers
@2004kyleg hell yeah, I want a thick, juicy burger with some bacon on it and pour some liquid cheeze on that motherfucker and also a glass of sweet tea. but I dont ride a Harley, I ride an R6
Looks like the "stopper" was trying to find his low gear after avoiding the bike on the track. Then he took his time moving on. No big deal in the grand scheme of things. Anyone who's done a race or track day knows we're not supposed to stop. Whats up with the pages and pages of debate?
It's pointless to stop anyway most track bikes don't have kickstands. It's not like he was going to lay is bike down on the track to go help the other rider
@huskerzGBR to me, it prob be worse to "try to hang on." You don't want to get caught up in the bikes tumble. but also its damn hard as shit to stay on the bike when that happens.
@gunsaremything his rear wheel slid out a foot or so, when he came up, his bike wasn't facing his direction of travel, his front tire buckles from the pressure pushing it one way, forces the highside and pops the rider off.
He waved that he was good. Obviously several of these commentors have never either raced on a track or even been to one. He was smart in leaving ambulances were already on their way what was he going to do say "are you ok man??" until the paramedics showed up?
Wow some guys are stupid. On track your kickstand is either taken off or taped up. You want him to drop the bike on the ground to go help him? There are employees for that.
It looked like he target fixated and almost followed him. That wasn't intentional. You're going much too fast in that situation when someone crashes in front of you to say "Oh, that guy's crashing, I better stop and help."
just did a 3 day weekend there are Jennings. the highside happened coming out of 10 and into turn 11. i can tell you that the track staff takes safety seriously and were very responsive when an incident occured. JenningGP is a super fun track!!
that's correct, my dad always goes to the track days here where we live, and everyone is told NOT TO STOP under any circunstances. It would only make thing go worse
You've obviously never been to a track Fucktard. There's a thing called an impact zone that you want to stay out of. Say there was oil on the track that caused the original crash, you happen to miss it and stop to help. the next guy coming hits it and goes down. Where does that leave you? right in the impact zone. LIke I said, unless you want to become part of the problem you keep rolling. You really want to help, get your buddies truck and gear ready because he's done for the day.

@EmoSurfer1982 This is really interesting. I thought it was really classy of the guy to stop and see if he needed help, but I can see how it would be dangerous to everybody. Interesting.
You've never done a track day then, they always tell you in the breifing before anyone is allowed out on track that if your friend, girlfriend, granny, whoever! crashes, leave them, theirs nothing you can do except get in the way, although where the track marshals are that are supposed to wave yellow flags, pick up and move the bike out of danger and same for the rider and attend to a riders injuries if he has any. This could have ended so much worse... stupid track. stupid organisation.
Most track days have flag marshals only, if an incident occurs, its a straight red flag so the support team can come and sort the mess out. As a marshal at race meetings, i do find it frustrating seeing a rider down at a track day and the time it takes to get to them sometimes. for example a race at brands indy circuit will have 60-70 marshals, a track day will have 7 flag marshals, and a few in the response car.
for the dumbasses who dream of bikes and will never own one...i ride track and no, you're not allowed to stop on the track under any circumstances. And there are no kickstands on most racebikes( excess weight) you would have to lay your bike down in the grass and help but theres nothing you could possibly due to help before medical staff gets there. reassuring him that his broken leg doesnt hurt will not help. haha
Sorry in advance for my English but in fact he put too much throttle in the corner so the rear wheel start to loose grip and instead of move his body and keep the throttle at the same position to correct the sliding, he cut off the throttle so the grip suddenly come to the normal value and he had been ejected from the bike, it is what we call an highside.
So what are you supposed to do with your body? move it back to the center in order to decrease the lean angle? My reaction is also to give less throttle (not to cut the throttle completely). Thankfully I have never experienced a highsider.
No in fact you have to move your body to the outer of the curve and keep the throttle at the exact same position, then you will naturally use the opposite lock.
Once the slide decrease, decrease the throttle and go back at the right position on the bike... it is possible that at this moment the bike starts to slide to the opposite way, if this happen reduce the throttle as soon as possible.
You shouldn't be giving ANY rear brake transitioning between turns 6, 7, 8, and 9 on this track, and judging by the fact that he's in the Expert Class, I'd wager he knew this. It's likely to be a simple case of two much acceleration transitioning from one turn to another, slipping the rear wheel and throwing it out of alignment with the front (a classic highside).
looks like a 675... mine's rear end isn't exactly the grippiest thing either... I've slid out the back a bunch, not even doing anything crazy, it's just a really light rear end. Is there suspension adjustments that'll help that grip better?
I had an amazing weekend at jennings last week. Great place. That didnt look like expert group speeds, I guess the distance of the camera could have been misleading.
target fixation...did you get yours today? Crashes always go to the outside, so hold your line and you won't run the person over that just crashed. It's bad enough they had to fight the pavement haha
Your bike will go where your eyes go...Target fixation fear will make your worst fear come true....This guy had plenty of time to bank inside to his left.
The rider who was racing behind the rider who was high sided, target fixated/straightened up and almost ran into the downed rider's bike. He's lucky he was able to brake in time or else he would have wrecked too. He should have banked left to the inside and kept racing.
im sure if their was an accident right in front of u at 120+, you would NOT be able to keep ur eyes off it. its like a natural instinct. dont go bashing on people that made a mistake which u would have made if u were in the same situation, if u know how to ride a bike that is.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I've been racing on the street for 17 years which is a hell of alot harder than racing on a track and I HAVE NEVER TARGET FIXATED. My first instict has always been to find an escape route left or right. Like I said only retards target fixate. You must be a retard that's why you're offended....By the way...Is 120 supposed to be fast ?...I commute at that speed...On a dual sport....You're probably the type who straightens up through the middle of a turn and dies hitting a mailbox.
target fixation is like an instinct, it just happens wether u know it or not.
riding on the highway, u see a few bikes on the oncoming lane, u glance at them, and ur eyes follow them for a bit, thats called target fixation. if u say u have never done that in the 17 years of riding, then id say ur full of shit. and commuting at 120? ur an idiot, end of story, and if i died hitting a mailbox, i wouldnt be here huh.. just shows how intelligent u really are.
Let me clue you in since ur a newbie rider. Basically, target fixation is when something gets in a riders way and instead of the rider planning and following an escape route the rider focuses solely on the object in the way and in the process hits the object (or almost hits it,as was the case here). Riding a motorcycle requires one to intelligently override certain natural instincts. People, like you, who don't understand as much shouldn't be riding. Sell your 600 and buy a scooter.
Twat lmao...Nice choice of words ya fuckin dork. Twat...Using words like twat is just one reason why people from Britain can never really be cool. Like I said only retards target fixate. I'm a streetracer. The track lacks too many elements, it's just not as challenging. Fuck all of you track riding pussies. Try racing on the street and target fixate like this guy did. You'll be a one paragraph article in the local newspaper.
So your saying that track riding is too easy for you? You are full of shit!! I bet you would not be able to get close to most 'real' racers. You are just some dickhead who gets his kicks by speeding on the street, but it is true that if you watch a crash, you will more than likely join it.
I wasn't saying that track riding is too easy for me. That's your incorrect interpretation. But it is much easier. You stated it's a fact that if I were to watch a crash I would most likely join it. I agree that is a fact. That's precisely why I would immediately try to find an escape route to the left or to the right. Instead of panicking and freezing up while staring at the target I'm about to hit and then hitting it.
It's good that you have the escape-thing in your mind, but you only know how you will react when the moment occurs.
About the video, I think he's in between target fixation and looking if the rider's okay. It's not uncommon that people slow down or even stop for a second to look if everything is ok. I don't think he was anywhere near crashing, he was quick on the brake and then let it roll. You can easily outbrake a downed bike/rider (I know, last week someone crashed before me on track)
saying things like this completely discredits anything you could possibly bring to the table. I'm not saying I disagree with you, but this pretty much makes you look like a total squid. But hey, since you're such a badass why don't you head to the Isle of Mann, and show us all how it's done. I'm sure you won't mind showing John McGuinness the way around the island.
You have no idea what you're commenting about here because you don't have a clue as to why I've posted any of the comments I've posted. For criticizing this riders target fixation I've had to deal with one idiot after another getting bent out of shape and accusing me of being a hypocrite and one who has target fixated before. I've merely defended my abilities. Btw, the term squid is only used by newbies.
i didn't post this because you commented on his target fixation....he did target fixate and made a rookie mistake. I was commenting on how cocky you were and saying you're a "street racer". And no squid isn't a term used by newbies it's a term used to describe irresponsible liabilities like yourself.
People who don't have any balls, frequently call people who do, idiots, all of the time. Those who can't do criticize. Why are you even watching motorcycle videos on youtube ?...The fact that you can't write the English language properly or understand what target fixation is speaks volumes about how unintelligent you are. You also misunderstood my comment about your being the type to hit a mailbox (which you are). I never said you did....But keep riding and you will...Dumbass.
1. its not a race, its a trackday, so the sportsmanship argument is irrelevant when theyre not racing.
2. you DONT stop on a track day even if its your father whos just binned it, some other crasher could be doing exactly the ame thing and smash you from behind.
3. he almost held it, he was much quicker than the other fellers, shame he came off. one of those things.
it doesn't matter how quick you are, if you cant keep it out of the gravel you are not going to win races. And he slowed down on the edge of the track, WELL off the line and gave the guy the wave to see if he was alright.
He did not ask because he NEVER intended to stop. He target fixated on the flying bike and lost his track. HE HAD to slow down and make it LOOK like he stopped for a buddy when he really nearly hit the downed bike!!
The best thing a rider can do in a situation like that where he has a buddy that just crashed, is to pit in as quickly as possible so they(the track promoters) can get the medical help to the fallen rider as quickly as possible. Stopping to help you buddy puts not only you at risk but your buddy who just crashed.
BTW, the guy who stopped in that video didn't stop to check on his buddy, he target fixated on the ducati and almost crashed himself.
Incorrect. Target fixation is a common error when someone crashes right in front of you, or if you are fixating on a stationary item (tree, cone, wall etc) and causes a crash because of it. You ride into whatever you are staring at. So.. no he wasn't checking on his friend. In fact, if you watch the footage, you can see that his course follows the fallen bike as the downed bike slides across the track perfectly.
Put a stabilizer on that Bitc* and it most likely wouldn't have happened. Little money for that expensive repair! LESSON LEARNED...fyi those that don't k much: ease off the gas and do not chop the throttle!

for the dumbasses who dream of bikes and will never own one...i ride track and no, you're not allowed to stop on the track under any circumstances. And there are no kickstands on most racebikes( excess weight) you would have to lay your bike down in the grass and help but theres nothing you could possibly due to help before medical staff gets there. reassuring him that his broken leg doesnt hurt will not help. haha

how can this happens? wrong handling or slicks?
lkiokdix 2 years ago
Sorry in advance for my English but in fact he put too much throttle in the corner so the rear wheel start to loose grip and instead of move his body and keep the throttle at the same position to correct the sliding, he cut off the throttle so the grip suddenly come to the normal value and he had been ejected from the bike, it is what we call an highside.
terega6 2 years ago 5
So what are you supposed to do with your body? move it back to the center in order to decrease the lean angle? My reaction is also to give less throttle (not to cut the throttle completely). Thankfully I have never experienced a highsider.
nielsww 2 years ago
No in fact you have to move your body to the outer of the curve and keep the throttle at the exact same position, then you will naturally use the opposite lock.
Once the slide decrease, decrease the throttle and go back at the right position on the bike... it is possible that at this moment the bike starts to slide to the opposite way, if this happen reduce the throttle as soon as possible.
It is very easy to explain but not to do...
It happens to me one time and I didn't fall --->
terega6 2 years ago
Get off the track stupid. all youre doing is holding up the medical staff from getting to the injured rider.
I'm sure Dan or Sarge ripped this guy a new behind.

I like it how he stops to see if he's Ok! :)
Wit3KiD 2 years ago 2
It looks more like he target fixated, followed him off and figured since he was already stopped he would make sure.

that and it kinda looked like he was avoiding the laid down bike...

looks like to much back brake....
cannzilla 3 years ago
You shouldn't be giving ANY rear brake transitioning between turns 6, 7, 8, and 9 on this track, and judging by the fact that he's in the Expert Class, I'd wager he knew this. It's likely to be a simple case of two much acceleration transitioning from one turn to another, slipping the rear wheel and throwing it out of alignment with the front (a classic highside).
seawlf777 2 years ago
looks like a 675... mine's rear end isn't exactly the grippiest thing either... I've slid out the back a bunch, not even doing anything crazy, it's just a really light rear end. Is there suspension adjustments that'll help that grip better?

I had an amazing weekend at jennings last week. Great place. That didnt look like expert group speeds, I guess the distance of the camera could have been misleading.

that was a 1'22.00'' lap...the camera does make us look slow...just like watchin' motogp, it's a lot faster in person.
mnmskate 3 years ago
That series of turns is a bit tighter than it looks, and the telephoto lens does a good job of compressing the distance even further.

target fixation...did you get yours today? Crashes always go to the outside, so hold your line and you won't run the person over that just crashed. It's bad enough they had to fight the pavement haha

Your bike will go where your eyes go...Target fixation fear will make your worst fear come true....This guy had plenty of time to bank inside to his left.
fukinblowme 3 years ago 2
wasnt that just a tank slapper? i dont think it had anything to do with target fixation
jeenyus720 3 years ago
The rider who was racing behind the rider who was high sided, target fixated/straightened up and almost ran into the downed rider's bike. He's lucky he was able to brake in time or else he would have wrecked too. He should have banked left to the inside and kept racing.

Only retards target fixate...wtf
fukinblowme 3 years ago
im sure if their was an accident right in front of u at 120+, you would NOT be able to keep ur eyes off it. its like a natural instinct. dont go bashing on people that made a mistake which u would have made if u were in the same situation, if u know how to ride a bike that is.
Th3Juice 3 years ago

I've been racing on the street for 17 years which is a hell of alot harder than racing on a track and I HAVE NEVER TARGET FIXATED. My first instict has always been to find an escape route left or right. Like I said only retards target fixate. You must be a retard that's why you're offended....By the way...Is 120 supposed to be fast ?...I commute at that speed...On a dual sport....You're probably the type who straightens up through the middle of a turn and dies hitting a mailbox.
fukinblowme 3 years ago
canyon riding < track days. period.
target fixation is like an instinct, it just happens wether u know it or not.
riding on the highway, u see a few bikes on the oncoming lane, u glance at them, and ur eyes follow them for a bit, thats called target fixation. if u say u have never done that in the 17 years of riding, then id say ur full of shit. and commuting at 120? ur an idiot, end of story, and if i died hitting a mailbox, i wouldnt be here huh.. just shows how intelligent u really are.
Th3Juice 3 years ago 4
Let me clue you in since ur a newbie rider. Basically, target fixation is when something gets in a riders way and instead of the rider planning and following an escape route the rider focuses solely on the object in the way and in the process hits the object (or almost hits it,as was the case here). Riding a motorcycle requires one to intelligently override certain natural instincts. People, like you, who don't understand as much shouldn't be riding. Sell your 600 and buy a scooter.
fukinblowme 3 years ago
yeah and thats why your in the GP. twat.
djcozzyman123 3 years ago
Twat lmao...Nice choice of words ya fuckin dork. Twat...Using words like twat is just one reason why people from Britain can never really be cool. Like I said only retards target fixate. I'm a streetracer. The track lacks too many elements, it's just not as challenging. Fuck all of you track riding pussies. Try racing on the street and target fixate like this guy did. You'll be a one paragraph article in the local newspaper.
fukinblowme 3 years ago
So your saying that track riding is too easy for you? You are full of shit!! I bet you would not be able to get close to most 'real' racers. You are just some dickhead who gets his kicks by speeding on the street, but it is true that if you watch a crash, you will more than likely join it.
lindz1817 3 years ago
I wasn't saying that track riding is too easy for me. That's your incorrect interpretation. But it is much easier. You stated it's a fact that if I were to watch a crash I would most likely join it. I agree that is a fact. That's precisely why I would immediately try to find an escape route to the left or to the right. Instead of panicking and freezing up while staring at the target I'm about to hit and then hitting it.
fukinblowme 3 years ago
It's good that you have the escape-thing in your mind, but you only know how you will react when the moment occurs.
About the video, I think he's in between target fixation and looking if the rider's okay. It's not uncommon that people slow down or even stop for a second to look if everything is ok. I don't think he was anywhere near crashing, he was quick on the brake and then let it roll. You can easily outbrake a downed bike/rider (I know, last week someone crashed before me on track)
mrchocomel 3 years ago
saying things like this completely discredits anything you could possibly bring to the table. I'm not saying I disagree with you, but this pretty much makes you look like a total squid. But hey, since you're such a badass why don't you head to the Isle of Mann, and show us all how it's done. I'm sure you won't mind showing John McGuinness the way around the island.
skater15153 3 years ago
You have no idea what you're commenting about here because you don't have a clue as to why I've posted any of the comments I've posted. For criticizing this riders target fixation I've had to deal with one idiot after another getting bent out of shape and accusing me of being a hypocrite and one who has target fixated before. I've merely defended my abilities. Btw, the term squid is only used by newbies.
fukinblowme 3 years ago
i didn't post this because you commented on his target fixation....he did target fixate and made a rookie mistake. I was commenting on how cocky you were and saying you're a "street racer". And no squid isn't a term used by newbies it's a term used to describe irresponsible liabilities like yourself.
skater15153 3 years ago
People who don't have any balls, frequently call people who do, idiots, all of the time. Those who can't do criticize. Why are you even watching motorcycle videos on youtube ?...The fact that you can't write the English language properly or understand what target fixation is speaks volumes about how unintelligent you are. You also misunderstood my comment about your being the type to hit a mailbox (which you are). I never said you did....But keep riding and you will...Dumbass.
fukinblowme 3 years ago
1. its not a race, its a trackday, so the sportsmanship argument is irrelevant when theyre not racing.
2. you DONT stop on a track day even if its your father whos just binned it, some other crasher could be doing exactly the ame thing and smash you from behind.
3. he almost held it, he was much quicker than the other fellers, shame he came off. one of those things.
miken16 3 years ago
it doesn't matter how quick you are, if you cant keep it out of the gravel you are not going to win races. And he slowed down on the edge of the track, WELL off the line and gave the guy the wave to see if he was alright.

Turppa21 4 years ago
He did not ask because he NEVER intended to stop. He target fixated on the flying bike and lost his track. HE HAD to slow down and make it LOOK like he stopped for a buddy when he really nearly hit the downed bike!!
luvtrax 4 years ago 2
your not allowed to stop on the track. They force you to keep moving to prevent an even larger pile up.
mackerae 3 years ago 2
True, and also the fact racebike have no stand so he would have had to lay his bike on it's side....
skidMarkNZ 3 years ago
+1 You are never ever allowed to stop on the track. Also being it a track bike chances are he didn't have a side stand any how.

good to see a rider check if u r ok. good sportsmenship.
bennxy 4 years ago 5
I was thinking the very same thing. Still good to see people have your back if you need them.
stuntboy56 4 years ago 2
The best thing a rider can do in a situation like that where he has a buddy that just crashed, is to pit in as quickly as possible so they(the track promoters) can get the medical help to the fallen rider as quickly as possible. Stopping to help you buddy puts not only you at risk but your buddy who just crashed.
BTW, the guy who stopped in that video didn't stop to check on his buddy, he target fixated on the ducati and almost crashed himself.
ViperR6 4 years ago 6
