Hm im pretty disapointed after seeing this to be honest. This is no match for D3 whatsoever

Maybe not graphic wise but that's it. Let me just say I have been a long time diablo fan and after playing beta of D3 and seeing the direction that game went in TL2 will blow it away.

The fact that blizzard forces you to play on their crap servers, they force you to deal with major security hacking issues ( and trust me with that RMAH it WILL happen).

Screw D3! I'm gona be getting torchlight 2 and play it the way I want and that is single player or LAN period!

After finishing the D3 Beta I decided to buy TL1 to continue my thirst for the genre. While TL1 had nice graphics and all, I felt it was too 'easy' and all I needed to do was spam with spells. It was simply D2 with nicer graphics. The setting also killed it -- stuck in a dungeon? I mean, that was alright for Diablo 1 but I'd like to imagine I'm spending all that time hacking away at creatures from all around the world... even if it's still just spamming spells. TL2 here looks the same as TL1 : (

TL2 looks nothing like TL1

You should visit the main site and look at the screen shots. It has outdoor areas, weather cycles, 3 1/2 acts, each act longer than all of TL1.

And you also need to remember that TL1 was made in 18 months (and that time includes forming a company, finding an office, buying computers, and hiring people) and it was only released then because the company was about to run out of money.

actually they left Blizzard for reasons unknown (but it seems like they just wanted more control and less corporate control). And the first game they made wasn't TL. It was  Hellgate: London, which unfortunately didn't work out.

@creationoftheworld Don;t forget, mate, Runic is made up of old Blizzard dogs. And if there is one thing Blizzard are well known for, it's constantly delaying games, same goes for Runic. Or ArenaNet, they too come from Blizzard and their Guild Wars 2 was supposed to come out back in 2010-2011.

Just because it's not more "realistic" like Diablo 3 doesn't mean this isn't a great game. Torchlight doesn't take itself as seriously as Diablo, and that's a good thing.

I have a great deal of faith in Torchlight 2 being a better game than Diablo 3 overall.

I'll definitely play it, because I'm hopelessly addicted to hack n' slash, but I had hoped to see igraphics that were importantly different from the first iteration. Still way to "cartoony" imho. ...still, an adequate way to pass the time till DIII.
