I ordered the wellco version of these with the exception of the lacing system they are the same and I also endorse this style of boot, it does take a break in period
I just paid $100 at Shipton's Big R in Billings, MT. My first pair of boots similar to these were bought in 1975 at AAFES Elmendorf AFB , Alaska. They were warmer than Air Force issue combat boots. I wore mine off duty. I mainly wore standard issue Muk Luks for work, as I worked outside in snow a lot. This is a lightweight alpine mountaineering boot, regardless of the newer "combat" name. European bootmakers have made similar boots for many years. Scarpa, Meindl, Garmont, Raichle, Vasque, etc.
I did a written review on these boots on the Danner website and still stand by it. They are a bit clunky, and if you are prone to turned ankles, beware. As for the lifetime warranty on the sole? The inside and the stitching of this boot will begin to wear out before the outter sole does, the sole and rubber rand are double tough. Unfortunately the waterproofing qualities are mediocre at best. These boots as of today are selling for $50.00 at the Danner factory store; walk-ins only
Thanks for the review. The price is way too steep for my blood, but it does look like a good boot. I needed those a couple weeks ago when I was hiking up the mountain!
It's good to see you back safe and sound. I'm sure your only back for a short time and I'm sure that time with your family is precious so I also want to say thanks for taking the time to do this review video. Keep Safe and Take Care :-))
Early leave? It seems you just left. Whatever, its good to see you safely home for a bit and thanks for the review. You look a little swollen, been hitting the weights?
Yea early and only a week long. Get 2 more sometime in the next 9 months lol. Been hitting the weights pretty hard yes! Not easy for me to gain weight usually but, seems to be working ok.
Sarge, Thanks for doing this review. I know how precious every minute you are home with your family is. You are an awesome guy and I can't wait to meet you at next years Spring Gathering...I hope you can make it.
