i want to be a snake breeder im just 14 im gettin a normal ball python soon i wanna get the normal couple first and see how it goes but i need more help for that. how long do i have to leave the couple together and when do i know that i can breed them? do i have to seperate them ? how old those the snake have to be?
I was just thinking about the kingsnake milksnake question Another reason would be kingsnakes are canibalistic and milksnakes aren't so therefor the name correlates.
can pythons in which have one snake has sensor pits on the top and pythons that have thier sensors on the bottom like ,breeding a carpet python to a ball pythonhow does that mix effect the make up of how the snake hunts how do these two differant pythons match up , or can they thanks for your time tony

That's good that you guys feed dead. It really pisses me off when people feed live. It's so cruel when the rat could have died peacefully, plus the rat could hurt the snake. I want to breed snakes and rats someday. Some rats will sell as pets and some as feeders. I like both as pets so it works out great.
sometimes you just cant feed dead. i know s snake that will not eat a dead mouse even if freshly killed. extremly picky eater though. ..but then again some ppl do it just cuz they like to watch it happen. i am more in the middle with it...i dont have that much of a problem with live feeding at all but i cant deny there are some mixed feeling about it. mostly because it can be stressfull on both animals and a snake can get hurt as well.
Hay brian I own a ball python and I am somone who wonts to work with snakes for a living. But In oregon it's has been hard to find jobs that are reptile related, I have volenteerd at a reptile shop and I have slowly been able to handle deforent snakes, even a bitey savu python. But the job I have that i have that pays is a little demanding at times, I work at a grocery store but its not what I wont to do, I fill like moving to a more reptile friendly area because its what I wont to do! help!
Hey Brian I was wondering if its hard to become a Snake Breeder, hard to get employees, and does it make good money? Because I might want to do that or if not just keep it as a hobby and work with my dad as a dentist. Can you please tell me what you think whats better because I love both things? Please tell me if you have the time. Thanks. : )
hey warman it depends i got home earlyer in the month from a show and some phases of pastels and others go for a little over 1 grand so ya u get good money from it
i bet your overhead is pretty amazing considering the bulbs, heat rocks, and other energy intensive appliances. one problem i have with snakes in cages is that they can't go underground where the temp is right or to hunt. it's like they're in jail and i hate jails. but if you're keeping people from capturing wild snakes, which i doubt, it could be a good thing. my experience has been that when ppl see a snake or lizard they can't leave it along and just appreciate it they have to catch or kill.
There is no doubt that production like ours fills a need in the pet trade and takes pressure off the collection of wild caught animals Does it stop it "no". But it dramaticlally reduces it. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
i heard milk snakes got thier name from in the olden days people said that they drank the milk out of a dairy cow. of course its not true but thats what i heard about why the name was thought up. and it sucks that most of your days go to your buisness but i think its well worth it. i would love to have a buisness as big and as great as yourse.
great vids, i find them very helpful. ive got a columbian red tail and was wondering if its ok to keep 2 baby red tails in the same tank ? just dont want them to attack eachother.
We use tubs that are 33 x 18 x 6 inches for our adult ball pythons. It can profitable on all kinds of levels. Even with a few animals in your bedroom if you have the right snakes. Thanks for all your support! Brian(Sbtv)
Hey Brian i just bought an amenalistic corn snake and he seems to sleep under the waterbowl i've put in, im a bit worried that he might not be getting enough warmth?
It's common for them to do that. I'm sure it'll be fine. but you can put a good hide spot for it on the warm side of the cage and it might go there if it want to. Thanks Brian(SBtv)
brian before u said ur last sentence in this vid about how u love ur job i was just thinking to myself how u r the luckiest guy in the world...ur such a good mild mannered person...u have a supportive wife and a good crew...not to mention u get to work with the best snakes man can offer...i envy u..most ppl would wanna be a professional athlete or a rock star... but me....I wanna be you..haha for real brian u put the work into i know, but it shows...u got it all brother
Hi Brian, I've been told that axanthic ball pythons brown out as they grow and will pretty much normal as they reach adulthood. Is this true ? thanks a lot
Nice vid! Believe it or not, its also a common myth that goldfish stay te size of their enclosure. A full size goldfish needs an enclosure at least 40 times bigger than the standard bowl.
thanks for that i realy like your sujestions ! i think i will do both ! corns are cool and the upsides are good ! but i still like the balls overall ! thanks

Ball Pythons are a great animals to breed. Only one clutch, but it can be a great clutch! You could also breed corns, they give two clutches a year and they breed a little younger?? Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

I'm doing a video series that will be available on my website that will cover all this kind of stuff. I hope to have it done in a month or two tops. Keep an eye out for it. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
Albinism is a recessive gene. So when bred to a normal all the babies will look normal, but carry the albino gene. They are called heteros. There are tons of other morphs and tons of ways to make them:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
We see it a lot with the numbers we keep. About 2-3% of colubrids get egg bound. Most will pass their eggs in time, but we do lose a few to binding. Hope this helps, Brian(Sbtv)
my dad thinks i should just get a corn snake but my brother says i should get a royal python because they are easyer to take care of (or so he says). but can you tell me which one would be a good first snake?? thanks.
I think either one of those is a great first snake. The Ball Python will get a little bigger and be a little calmer. So it's just a metter of what you want. Good choices:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
I think that whenever you can get a snake from a breeder you are better off. I'm not putting the stores down, but most breeders take great care of their animals. Let me know if I can help out, Brian(Sbtv)
In reguards to why king snakes and milk snakes are called these names, it is because i believe that the term king in snakes denotes a species that frequently or exclusively feeds on other snakes. Eg the King cobra and the king snake. However the milk snakes have been known to feed on other snakes as adults but very rarely. Hope this helps!?!
brian as far as reptiles growing to their environment .... i used to do volunteer work at the local science museum and they had a small american alligator in a 8x5 foot cage or something of that size i cant quite remember... anyways it was over a year old and he wasnt any bigger than 2.5 -3.5 ft long... will alligators grow to their environment (i remember someone there telling me this) or will they out grow it too? just curious.
They will outgrow it too. What probably hapenned there was they were probably not feeding it a lot to keep it small. Some farms will maintenence feed them and keep them growing a foot a year. Thanks, Brian(SBtv)
They will out grow it too. But with gators you can keep them very small by not feeding them a lot. Not that I recommend it, but I have seen three year old gators under 3 foot. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
You can incubate your cornsnake eggs in a place that is about 80 degrees F. Yu don't need an incubator for colubrids. Hope this helps, Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)
Great informative videos. You also promote the trade and we all appreciate that. Do you use flexwatt tape for heat on your animals, and can 11" wide flexwatt be cut in half and still used properly?
these videos are absolutley awesome. they are better than anything on television and thanks for making them brian i know you are doing it for the reptile community.
I agree, we try to get that in some of our vids. We hanlde things a little more loose then what I suggest people to do. I guess do as I say not as I do:) Thanks for the comment, I'll make sure to keep pushing that. Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)
Thanks for liking the show! I have no idea what that song it?? I get asked all the time, so I need to ask my editor and I'll get back to you. Thanks again, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
hey brian i have a question, since i got my BP she has been really good, but in the last couple of days she has started to change she strikes at me all the time now. I did have to move her cage to the other side of the room and she is sharing a chage with another BP for now but other then that, thats all i can think of any advice???
It's probably the stress of moving and co-inhabiting a cage with another snake. I would be willing to bet that if you could get it in it's own cage that you'll see the stress will go down and it'll start to calm back down. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
Awesome vid once again! LOL, "she wasn't the brightest person in the first place" I see your hard work via VIDEOS...just replying to 100's of comments lets me know...phone calls, hard labor takes up the rest of your day. I cant wait until we get our family business going on the right track. Then, that would be my only job, DOING WHAT I LOVE! Your inspirational, great, great job!!! 10**********'s
I like that Cornsnakes and Ball Pythons are great starter snakes. Checkout our vid that is titled our picks for best pet snakes. We go over some great choices on that episode. Let me know if I can help! Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
Oh hey, by the way Brian, I believe I have commented you on myspace and reptilegeeks as well, or at leasst in the past. my rg account is reflex, and my username on myspace is Hey There! (lol i know dumb right? I was bored)
lol!!! it's cool to see you on those sites too! I'm going to start to shoutout some cool herp sites almost everyweek as of this weeks show, RG will be coming up really soon for sure! Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
Ohe hey Brian... Thanks so much for spending so much of your time on the herp community, we know it means a lot to you and it means a lot to us, too! So thanks again!
Also, as I said, this was probably oneof my alltime favorite episodes!! Of course, I couldn't really fully choose between any of them, they are all great. Getting better and better, though! Have a great day,Brian :)
Another great clip. In about a week I'll be getting three new baby ball pythons. A pastel, a spider, and a het pie, all females. Can't wait to grow them up and start breeding to some males.
Do you have a list somewhere of the shows you will be attending?
I'll be at the Daytona breeders expo and the four NARBC shows for sure. After that it's up in the air. We have a lot going on and it's hard to figure out how to break away from our crazy schedule?? Hope to see you at a show soon! Brian(SnakebYtesTV)
Haha, The Chew Crew has a lot of really fun give aways and contest that they'll have going over the next few weeks, so have fun there. I'm still not worried about them catching me on myspace:) Brian(SnakebYtesTV)
I know now.lol I've had a ton of messages about that:) I guess that's why I breed snakes and not fish, I don't know anything about them.lol Thanks for helping! Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
Checkout last weeks show called " sexing up some snakes" it's all about how to sex a snake. Let me know if you have any questions, Brian(SnakebytesTV)
Axanthinc is lacking yellow, and anerythiristic is lacking red. Often anerythristic or axanthic snakes are lacking both, but only are called by one name. Anerythristic Corns are an axample of a true anerythristic, they are lacking the red, but still have the yellow. Hope this makes sence:) Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
Not a bad idea?? I'll put some thought into how I could do that and still make it fun?? Good idea, if you ever have anymore please let me know, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
hey brian! close call! you were going to get tagged.. nice video! keep up the good work! are you coming over to any shows in oregon by any chance? i would love to check out ur snakes!
I wish I could make it out to one of those shows?? I haven't been to that area of the country for a show. Are they good shows??? We'll see if we can get it into our really busy schedule. I know it was a close call on that bite. lol Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
I always try to get feeding in the episodes, I just don't want it to get to blah and not exciting for everyone:) Thanks for watching! Brian(snakeBytesTV)
hi man another interesting vid! just woundering, at the moment i just got loads of normal ball pythons, and now i been saving abit of money and i can buy 2 of the following snakes: lesser platty, mojave, cinamon, pastel or spider. which would be the best combos? or should i buy two of the same breed? also which ones look better as they grow? thanks.
I think out of the list that you have there I like the potential for Lessers and Spiders the most, don't forget about Pinstripes! Hope this helps! Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
hey brian thanks for your help trying to get my bp to go frozen. He just didnt want it, so i had to go live. But i remember what you said in one of your vids about ya you do feel bad, but this is what you love to do, i love snakes and i have to agree with that. so again thats for your help and i hope i get to meet you at daytona. Rick
Yeah I'll look forward to seeing you in Daytona for sure. Make sure that no matter how busy I look, you yank me away and say hey!! It's coming up quick. Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

I recently purchased a red tail/ common boa at 1 month old, and it has a blood red coloration right on the vent scales and only on the vent scales.
Would it just be a coincidence for having that colour there?

what happens when you breed an normal ball python to an albino ball python?what are some other morphs and how do you make them?
justin101896 3 years ago
Albinism is a recessive gene. So when bred to a normal all the babies will look normal, but carry the albino gene. They are called heteros. There are tons of other morphs and tons of ways to make them:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
Hey Brian, How many times have you encountered egg binding in snakes? and What are the chances of it happening? thanks
pspsrule 3 years ago
We see it a lot with the numbers we keep. About 2-3% of colubrids get egg bound. Most will pass their eggs in time, but we do lose a few to binding. Hope this helps, Brian(Sbtv)

do you think a ball python can breed with a
red tail boa
python808 3 years ago
Hey I dont think you can but you may.
I know you can breed this with bloods.
herper55 3 years ago
Pythons can't breed with Boas because ones a live bearer and one is an egg layer. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

it was cool

hey Brian, im stuck between 2 snakes.
my dad thinks i should just get a corn snake but my brother says i should get a royal python because they are easyer to take care of (or so he says). but can you tell me which one would be a good first snake?? thanks.
markcat9876 3 years ago
I think either one of those is a great first snake. The Ball Python will get a little bigger and be a little calmer. So it's just a metter of what you want. Good choices:) Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
how do you supply all your mice and ras and rabbits do you buy them or breed them?
jolly672 3 years ago
We buy our rodents. It would just be too much for us to breed our own. Thanks, Brian(SBtv)

Brian,
I want to get a Kingsnake, but I want a hatchling. Would you recommend getting one from a store or a breeder?
If a breeder, do you know any in Rochester, NY?
Zombrii 3 years ago
I think that whenever you can get a snake from a breeder you are better off. I'm not putting the stores down, but most breeders take great care of their animals. Let me know if I can help out, Brian(Sbtv)

Everyone keeps telling me that California King Snakes are venomous and bad starter snakes, but everything that I have read states otherwise. D:
I really want one but my mom is like all BLAH because she doesn't like them.
But yeah, where do you breed them at?
Zombrii 3 years ago
They aren't venomous:) They can really make great pets. Thanks, Brian(SBtv)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
In reguards to why king snakes and milk snakes are called these names, it is because i believe that the term king in snakes denotes a species that frequently or exclusively feeds on other snakes. Eg the King cobra and the king snake. However the milk snakes have been known to feed on other snakes as adults but very rarely. Hope this helps!?!

I agree that in most cases it makes sence, Thanks for the input. Brian(Sbtv)

brian as far as reptiles growing to their environment .... i used to do volunteer work at the local science museum and they had a small american alligator in a 8x5 foot cage or something of that size i cant quite remember... anyways it was over a year old and he wasnt any bigger than 2.5 -3.5 ft long... will alligators grow to their environment (i remember someone there telling me this) or will they out grow it too? just curious.
your the man brian!
erollinc 3 years ago
They will outgrow it too. What probably hapenned there was they were probably not feeding it a lot to keep it small. Some farms will maintenence feed them and keep them growing a foot a year. Thanks, Brian(SBtv)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
They will out grow it too. But with gators you can keep them very small by not feeding them a lot. Not that I recommend it, but I have seen three year old gators under 3 foot. Thanks, Brian(Sbtv)

Brian, does the incubation temperature and humidity change towards the end of incubation for ball pythons or does everything stay consistent?
stayz8 3 years ago
We keep everything the same right through hatch. Hope this helps, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
brian, are ball pythons hard to breed ?
yungjoc818 3 years ago
They are pretty easy to breed compared to a lot of other snakes. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
can u plz tell me how to build a incubator i want to breed my corn snake
jaks41 3 years ago
You can incubate your cornsnake eggs in a place that is about 80 degrees F. Yu don't need an incubator for colubrids. Hope this helps, Brian(SnakeBYtesTV)
SnakeBytesTV 3 years ago
oh ok thanks wat abot the humidty
jaks41 3 years ago
If you put them in a plastic box with damp vermiculite or hatch-rite that's all the humidity that you need. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

hey brian
are corn snakes easy to breed and when u are going to breed them should u put them in tubs
thanks
ryan
geckoguy1978 3 years ago
They're one of the easiest snakes to breed in my opinion. You can breed them in tamks or tubs. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

Great informative videos. You also promote the trade and we all appreciate that. Do you use flexwatt tape for heat on your animals, and can 11" wide flexwatt be cut in half and still used properly?
nsra1933 3 years ago
I really appreciate the kind words. We do use flexwatt, but you can't cut it width wise only length. Thanks again, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

hey brian i have a question, since i got my BP she has been really good, but in the last couple of days she has started to change she strikes at me all the time now. I did have to move her cage to the other side of the room and she is sharing a chage with another BP for now but other then that, thats all i can think of any advice???
r11186m 3 years ago
It's probably the stress of moving and co-inhabiting a cage with another snake. I would be willing to bet that if you could get it in it's own cage that you'll see the stress will go down and it'll start to calm back down. Thanks, Brian(SnakeBytesTV)

hey brian me again just wondering whats the difference between anerytheristic and axanthic
m2a0n0s7i 3 years ago
Axanthinc is lacking yellow, and anerythiristic is lacking red. Often anerythristic or axanthic snakes are lacking both, but only are called by one name. Anerythristic Corns are an axample of a true anerythristic, they are lacking the red, but still have the yellow. Hope this makes sence:) Brian(SnakeBytesTV)
