Thank you!! This is my all time favorite song after seeing Rex and Comus meet for the first time - I sobbed for days feeling as if I'd been invited to Cinderella's ball - thanks again!
The fountain was restored right before Katrina. Considering the pumps are on the other side of the levee, why doesn't it work? Oh, yeah. There's still no power on Lakefront Drive!
I grew up in New Orleans but now live in Georgia. I would love to see the fountain one more time all lit up with color. We had so much fun around the fountain as kids and as a teenage girl I loved to watch the couples and dream of the future possibilities. Makes me so homesick for NOLA and all the good things of the past that I loved so much.
People tend to not believe this is the Official Mardi Gras song... that's because you from other places catch beads and show your stuff... we're sweet!
Pro bono publico -- you really have to live in New Orleans at least a decade before you can get your heart and mind around all of Carnival, that it's really a religious holiday, the exhausting of all the pleasures of the flesh, in preparation for the ashes of Wednesday.
Growing up here in New Orleans, the Mardi Gras fountain was there for all of it. As a kid I enjoyed the colored water, as a teen I rode out with my pals and scouted for girls. As an adult I brought my kids.

This song really describes all of New Orleans and our love for it...
It's heaven on Earth and a whole lot of beautiful nonsense.... and no matter what... we will NEVER stop loving this place.
