  • This is really helpful I'm a freshman who's trying out for Winterguard so thanks for the tutorials

  • you caught it at in angle... not flat.

  • @iluvpnk8 its supposed to be caught at an angle

  • I watched a few of your videos, you seem to get quite a few sails...

  • does anybody have tips to making the tryouts?! or does anyone know what they do?help please! :)

  • @abbysunshine1 Just smile and look like you're having fun! :)) Be confident with your work. I've done colorguard for 3 years now and i'm now a captain and even now I still get nervous but, just go in there and give it your all!

  • @OuranHSstudent Thank you :D ill try my besssstest!

  • @abbysunshine1

I tried out for color guard this April, as I'm an in-going freshman. (:

What we did, was we learned marching, and a routine, (Within a 3 day period.)

and on the 4th day, was our official tryouts. The 4th day, we mainly just got in blocks, and showed the judges (Usually the marching band instructor, coach, and band majors) how we spun our flags. Then when in a routine, you stand in a block, and take a turn being the first group in line. Make sense? (:

  • @abbysunshine1 Practice hard and SMILE. =) Good luck!

  • that looked really nice. i just learned how to do one of those.

  • I've always been taught to have your hand 1/3 the way into the silk and 1/3 off the tab.... also I've been taugh to catch it straight up and down.

  • @Pandasaver09backup I catch single and a half's vertically lol

  • Does anyone know where I can find weighted flag-pole caps ?

  • @chicaquehablamucho09 Try asking your school if they have any they could sell you, which is the easiest path to take; However, not all schools will sell students these parts and if so then try looking for rubber chair stoppers or even the rubber stoppers on the end of crutches and a lugnut that's big enough to get the job done as a weight. Try calling Lippo's Music Store for more info.

  • Ur not supposed to touch the silk I thought!!! Someone plz teach us how to do it right!!!

  • @haileykinter you can touch the silk!

  • u should do some rifle or sabre

  • two hands wow one hand onlii ova here that is how it shud b done

  • you are double dipping.

  • we catch it with one hand facing downward....

  • quarter tosses are the only throws i can do lol

  • i thought you were supposed to catch it with the silk up 2

  • Isnt this supposed to be a "instrutional" video,

    oh and you suck!

  • does any1 know where i can find a vid that teaches the box parallel toss? and i though ur supposed to catch a 1 1/2 with the silk up?

  • I have been marching 8 years and i have never caught a 1 1/2 toss like that!

  • You're not supposted to catch it like that. The way you tossed it. So I wouldn't be so much of a profectionist.

  • actually we have different tosses that get caught different ways. single, 1 1/2, and double.

  • hehehe, i can do that. I did a 3 and 1/2 spin toss last season's show

  • This is complete and udder crap. If I were running these horrible videos I would remove this girl and all of her "instructional" videos from the internet immediately. She is in a backyard trying to teach the world to spin when she herself can't spin at all. Someone needs to tell her to wake-up and take some classes or actually march a guard before she gets to go around "teaching" other people.

  • why don't you teach as then I hope you have even had a flag in your hands.

  • hey where do you get those flags?

  • you can get them on the internet. just google color guard silks.

  • wow, you guys shouldn't be so hard on this video lol and everyone gets sails once in awhile. its not that big of a deal

  • u are so retarded you need to catch it the same way you tossed it!!!! go and practice some more cause thats what u need.

  • YOu can't have sail throught a video you are teaching, it makes you look like an amatuer. Try not to twist your wrists towrd yourself when you toss.

  • lmao twinkletoes... who the f-ck taught you that? "Catch it the same way you tossed it" ?! Wow you must produce some boring work.

  • ...we usually call it a one and three quarters.

anyway that girl had horrible technique. she didn't even catch flat she caught it at an angle and brought it down to flat everytime.

  • my team calls it a vertical. and i agree with the others, you should catch in original position.

  • that is not how you do a toss you are supposed to catch it the same way you tossed it!!!!they should have experts doing this stuff!!!!

  • Once again, expert village has non-experts teaching. That is showing terrible technique and not ACTUALLY teaching anything.

  • mm i love pop tosses

  • pop toss!!!

    good toss watch free hands

  • That isn't supposed a slam exactly. Many call it the seat belt angle, it's a way to prepare for a few tosses. So your angle is fine. But you do not catch them parallel, catch them straight up that way it really is a 1 and 1/2

  • it depends on how you release it, and since she released at messed up angle, then that wouldn't be a one and a half, it would be a 1 and 1/4... like really? a slam? that was the worst slam i have ever seen in my life... sorry.. but they are soo basic..

  • whats a high? Anyone?

    ...

  • we call those singles or doubles ive nv hear 1 and a 1/2 but cool

  • A 1 1/2 toss lands straight up, not parallel.

  • thats not a 1 and 1/2 its a 1 1/4 a single and a half u catch straight up!!!

  • Isn't that a 1 and 1/4???

  • that looked like more than one and a half.... but what do i know i'm a rifle/sabre guy
