  • that's singing with the heart

  • Daves's voice is amazing his voice sounds the same live as it does in the studio.

  • @chodewarriors1123 actually i think it sounds better live

  • @mrownsauce ya not many artists sound as good or better live than in the studio

  • Ok so the Dutch have never heard Dave Matthews, there might be a slight problem somewhere? Is there a CD with dave and tim??

  • The best version of this haunting song

  • 240p never sounded so sweet! Thanks Dave, Tim and Peasefrawg!

  • @FreeMan549 hahaha love it

  • what year was this footage taken?

  • @crazyfingers64 Dave and Tim performed this on April 22, 2007. it was released as a cd and dvd "Live at Radio City"

  • @crazyfingers64 Dave and Tim performed this on April 22, 2007. it was released as a cd and dvd "Live at Radio City"

  • 3 TROLLERS NEED A HEART

  • AMAZING! Capital amazing.

  • Possibly Dave's finest written song.

  • bad news : we are all gonna die

good news : its seems probable its from the same place we originate

    :D

  • seems like this was a very underrated album eh? mood change surprised everyone, but will go back to it.

  • A song written by god, truly.

  • There are two idiots who don't like this... I can accept and understand their choise, no problem, but what I cannot understand is why in the world would they stay on a video that they don't like that long to press the thumb down... Don't like it, just go... What the f..k do those dude listent to????

  • zajebiste!!!!!!!!!

  • Tim Reynolds is so under-rated,id bow down and drink a gallon of his pis just to shake that Masters hand!!

  • Such a deep song, so much emotion. I love Dave.

  • 2 dislikes too many...

  • does dave smoke weed?

  • @jdubwa he does but not as much as he used to

  • @jdubwa he said at a concert i went to that he hasnt "smoked in years" cuz he sniffed the big smoke cloud and said into the mic "damn y'all are makin my nose run" lol

  • woah

  • D>M>B awesome band,my dream to meet and get there names on my cd! :)

  • I never get sick of watching Tim jam all his little masterpieces throughout all of Dave's songs. That guy is one in a million.

  • some friends of mine smoked with him

  • This explains exactly why this song won a Grammy... damn... amazing

  • I wish I could figure out Tim's riff at 0:15

  • @331823 It's a walk down of the A minor pentatonic scale. starts out with a hammer-on from 5-7 on A. then down to G for a hammer-on/ Pull-off from 5-7 and walk it up from there. hopefully that gives you enough to figure out the rest. I could tell you it in detail but that's a lot of typing.lol Peace!

  • Pure Awesomeness!

  • Little Mikey Carson, '67 to 75, rode his bike like the devil until the day he died.

  • uhhh wheres the favorite button? lol

  • whos the dickhead who hit the dislike button...

  • How this possible? 2 guys, make a great music...

  • @pebacowboy your comment shows the view of modern music, its a shame, you dont have to have a lot to have good music, sometimes it works (Dave Matthews Band and the Eagles), and sometimes it doesnt. However, its not necessary, this amazing music is possible because these are two people who use skill, they dont auto-tune, they dont fix anything, if they make a mistake, they practice, Dave is playin Rhythm and bass, with a percussive strum, and Tim is fillin in any empty spots with fills or solos

  • @Carolinglyle Sorry, but my comment was sarcasm about the other commercial bands that exist in the world. I admire the music of the Dave, and I am student music on Brazil.

  • @pebacowboy well then dont i look like an ass, i apologize

  • @tapoutfighter67 Can I be quite honest, even though it might provoke some ire from Zep fans? I love Led Zeppelin, have for decades, BUT, they were never good live, like these guys. One thing that impresses me immensely is the fact that Dave Matthews and Co. are so good live. That's not easy to find, even among really good studio bands. How are they like LZ? Curious to know what you mean.

  • @headstock48 if u think led zeppelin is not a good live band u shud be out of ur head....they are one of the most amazing live bands ever...i mean ever....they inspired thousands and their live versions were very different to their studio versions...jam oriented..and this is one band in the modern generation that i can be satisfied with..truly amazing band this band is..but if u really think led zeppelin wasnt a good live band u shud seriously be mad..

  • he reminds me of tom hanks..love both of them...we are gonna cover this song for a show..awesome

  • @mulholland1985

Oh my gosh!! I always thought that about them! Especially in the movie Cast Away. They are two peas from the same pod haha They look like they could be cousins.

  • Dave you are AMAZING. Awesome shit, pure talent

  • profound and gorgous song

  • chills starting at 2:30- the end! awesome job

  • @kevinmlewis24 chills starting at 0:00.. The whole song is awesome..

  • You're wrong! Chills start at 0:01 to the end! Awesome is right.

  • Please check out Todd Kuffner. I swear he is an acoustic genius worthy of Dave's attention.

  • Dave Matthews is the best musican besides tim playing today

  • by far they are the best duo ever!!

  • match made in heaven

  • Perfect!!!

  • dave and tim together is the best

  • i wonder how many people committed suicide to this song?

  • I HOPE WHOEVER DIGGS MY GRAVE... MAKES IT SHALLOW!!!...

  • my only goal in life is to shake his hand

  • @KATOMATE01 That doesn't sound normal. Maybe you should go see a doctor ? Maybe start using a diaper ?

  • This damn song almost made me cry.......DAMN

  • @muskypucker : If that is your choice of what to believe in, yeah. In my eyes, God didn't give anything to Dave & Tim. They're doing just fine on their own;-)

    Cheers

  • lol at the end of the song:

    Tim: "whoo, that was allright"

    hehe

  • Now THAT is how you sing the blues

  • @rockerfaerie thats not the blues lol

  • @whatistimhughes The term "the blues" refers to the "blue devils", meaning melancholy and sadness... It's not just a genre ;p During the first decades of the 20th century, blues music was not even clearly defined in terms of a chord progression.

  • @rockerfaerie woah, really? learn something new everyday. lol now i just feel stupid :P.. hehe the team in my high school is the blues devils, actually

  • @whatistimhughes It's oki really :) <3 Good to learn about music ^_-

  • i want him to sing this at my funeral i hope they dig me so i can feel the rain like dave

  • Tim Reynolds is the man.

  • "ashes, ashes, we all fall down(The Great Plague) "I had a birdie, and his name was Enza, I opened the window, and Influenza!" "Ring around the rosey, a pocket full of posey"

  • THAT IS AMAZING

  • what an amazing song! Thank you Tim and Dave!

  • wat is this song about ?

I love it so much but i havent been able to figure it out!

    Peace and love evryone :)

  • @22mrmusic hmmmm... im guessing death?

  • @22mrmusic I think this is one of those songs that is meant to mean whatever you need it to mean at that particular time in your life. For me this song is simple. It's about life and the beauty of life. In life you have to do what you want to be truly happy, but keep in mind death is only a few short years away.

  • @22mrmusic if u have a hard time figuring this song out have fun tryin to figure most of daves songs haha

  • google Doe's Account, its mindblowing.

  • @Yellowwatts i was certainly not "mindblown". they have failed to present any true evidence, just saying that they have a diary that may or may not exist, from studies that couldnt have happened because the LHC was non-functional at the time stated.

  • love this!!

  • Haunting and beautiful...

  • I just hope someone is at my Grave......

  • um. from now on, they just need to make videos where they stay focused on tim reynolds's hands the whole time.

  • i think it would blow all our minds, thats why they don't do it.

  • i love the contrasting guitar sounds in this, dave with a very slicked over clean sort of sound, and tim with a more coarse, rough sort of thing going on, it's perfect.

  • I would like it played at my funeral too while it's raining.

  • I would like it played at my funeral too! While it's raining.

    Great song!

  • i love it, my moms going to have it played at her funeral, which is fitting seeing as how my whole family are major dave fans.

  • hes addressing the gravedigger saying

To gravedigger, when u dig my grave...

  • This is probably one of the Deepest songs i have ever heard.

  • i know exactly what you feel!!

  • absolutely awesome song...

    not able eluding from it

  • unbelievable beautiful music

  • Love Dave!!!

  • gravedigger..when you dig my grave...

  • go tim! :)

  • I'm not a big Dave fan, but this is one of the few that I like.

  • I get chills when I see and hear him perform...this one just brings me to tears every time...he's a truly gifted man that God has put on this earth to show what the true meaning of music is about.

  • @unnatural6edq Can't you leave your god out of it? Why can't it be about Dave and Tim's greatness? They're the ones performing....

  • @VoodooGoddess haha another easily offended atheist. chill out. blaze some herb.

  • @unnatural6edq Im hoping your saying "they"are truly gifted, I think Dave and Tim together are awsome.

  • how about RIP LeRoi Moore?

  • 'sniff' makes me cry a lil' bit

(except the ring around the rosie part that i never really understood...)

  • Ring around the rosie was a rhyme composed (supposedly by children) during the events of Black Death. It's actually a really really disturbing song if you sit down and look at the lyrics while keeping in mind when and why it was written. All in all it's about death, so I'm sure that's what Dave was getting at

  • the origin of ring around the rosie goes back to the dark ages, it was a song sung for anyone who had contracted the plague and died. so just put two and two together

  • ring around the rosie was about small pox and everyone fell down means everyone dies from it

  • ring around the rosie was made up during the plague - people used to sing that song and dance in circles till they died when they had. the bumps from the plague were a black ring aroung a red spot - hence, ring around the rosie.

so the line in the song is a reference to the black plague

  • who's he talking about at 2:50...never understood that

  • no i meant "1940-1992" he doesnt give nay names liek the rest

  • 1940-1992 is mr vertigo :)

  • whos mr vertigo?

  • Comment removed

  • little micky carson

  • no hes 67-65......whatever it doesnt matter lol

  • 64-75.... haha, he didn't live negative two years...

  • oh jeeze im sorry i accidentally hit 6, good catch there

  • its not 1940 - 1992, it is 1940- 1990 too. because thats when Mr. vertigo died

  • thank you sir that makes sense...now i can finally fall asleep at night :)

  • maybe it doesnt mean too much but why does he say too? what else is he referring to? do you know? maybe im looking too much ahah i love this song though.

  • its not about mr vertigo its about little mikey carson getting killed by getting hit by a car on his bike ...who wanted to be like mr vertigo so it is 1992

  • "You shoud never have to watch as your only childern are buried in the ground, I mean you should never have to bury your own babies" What a GREAT line

  • this song makes me cry but its my favorite.

  • does anyone know the martin models they used for this show?

  • @GuitarBotzi 7 months later... but i believe d-35s

  • @mungo6000 yeah, thanks man it's never too late...

  • @GuitarBotzi yeah but no problem. but dave actually plays hd-28 apparently

  • this whole show was awe inspiring especially this one "bartender" and "dont drink the water"

  • and stay or leave was incredible

  • "little mikey carson 67-75 he rode is bike like the devil till the day he died. when he grows up he wants to be mr vertigo of the flying trapeze" so freakin sad

  • amazing.

  • first dave song i ever hear. i think one of the best.

    so deep.

  • one my fav dave songs of all time, epic.

  • yea.

  • i love this song soo awsome

  • this is just awesome

  • he is so fucking intense. dave matthews is god

  • he would disagree. he's an incredible and unbelievable songwriter and musician, but he's not god.

  • Fuckin awesome!

  • BADASS

  • This song makes me want to live a better life

  • 0:16 good God! tim rips it!
