That and zombies don't run with form or figure. They run with arms outstretched for what they're trying to reach, and he's firing blanks, because the bodies aren't jolting at all. The impact would literally shake the bodies. And at the very end, it's a dummy they rip apart. Pay close attention, when it zooms in, he stops firing/running.
