it never looks that bad, until you are in the thick of it,ive got a 33footer only had it a few weeks and have to cross the st helens barway in tasmania, gets pretty hairy at times, great for a laugh once ive changed my undies haha well done mate
mate thats intense. i have many times gone against the waves but never come with them in conditions like that. im sure that would have been 10 times scaryer then me going against sharp 40 ft waves
WHY? I don't see any docks and the river looks like it turns into inner tubing depth only pretty quickly! Where did this boat land after getting into the river?
iv had some pretty hairy bar crossings as a kid in matarangi on the coromandel... once we cut the corner coming round and the motor hit the ground.... was dodgy as dad managed to get the motor restarted but not before a massive wave crashed over the back and shit got fucked up lol we had the whole extended family on board, everyone got soaked and the cabin was a mess.. haha it was a 22ft rayglass
maybe if the skipper was going fast enough and just stuck with a wave and followed it in, he would be allright, ya cant let a wave come up behind ya.....so soso sooooo stupid
im a crabber outta newport ive crossed every bar from eureka to westport in shitty weather can get pretty scary lost quite a few friends from bar crossings most memerable was the blue heather rip billie t and abe u are still missed
Sorry I think its irresponsible to to cross in those conditions & yes Ive done it, I did it for 9 years & have fished for another 9 yrs since then in the Southern Ocean, Falklands, South Africa, Indian and Atlantic Oceans so feel i can comment. What do they teach you about bar crossings when you do your ticket? "If in doubt stay out". And anyway if you're in that much of a hurry to get the fish off just take it up to westport where the bar is good in a souwest. Madness!
I remember that day! barry was at the helm and two crew sharky and another pretty wicked shit they were so lucky, at one point they were standing on the roof! they make them tough here in Greymouth westcoast nz
awsome video it takes asome big hairy ones to do this stuff.and sloob23 go back to your filing cabinet you have no right to comment unless youve done this yourself.
Yeah I know dude, I have removed my comments. I was pissed off about a guy I used to know who used to put his crew at risk doing He-man crap, nothing to do with this boat though.

Yeah big balls.. also wreckless. Endangerment of crew, placing them in mortal danger. Take the boat and fine.
kinetiknz 11 months ago
@kinetiknz no not wreckless mate, the crew choose to be on that boat, and there working hard at what they do for a living, well done boys

@RVAepiphanyseeker It's much more than inner tube depth. Greymouth once was a major port.

joshsouthan 2 years ago 2
yeah the skipper done great, the boat nearly flips over at :23
orgasmoman69 1 year ago
@orgasmoman69 This is a self righting displacement boat. It cant flip. Boat gravity center is lower than boat buoyancy center.

Too slow to outrun the series. I've been in that situation on the Tillamook Bay Bar out Tillamook Oregon. In a 38ft charter boat though.

great shot, but these boats are servely underpowered, to save fuel/costs, crews are expendible, that could have easily ended badly.
