First of all I was there when Sammy Kipketer set that world record at Carlsbad in the 5k in 2000. And I believe Sammy could have gone or broken even more had he been challenged.
Nonetheless to the point this video of 2009 race does not do the event justice or doesn't capture Carlsbad or its true spirit even as Sammy Kipketer in my mind has come to epitomize Carlsbad or my memories of Carlsbad 5k.
