  • This version is of course by far better than Bill Justis', which sounds lame compared to this marvellous recording ;-)

  • george harrison rip

  • I like this and the original. It's hard to compare them.

  • sounds ahead of its time

  • This version is as good as Bill Justis'. I like them both.AFN often broadcasted this version as trailer in the 50s and 60s.

  • This version is as good as Bill Justis'. I like them both.

  • If you llike this song (and who doesen't) check out "Bumble Boogie" by B. Bumble & the Stingers.... Ernie's playing the piano in that one too!

  • George Harrison played this song on his guitar to John Lennon and Paul McCartney when they were in the quarry men, he wasn't in band because he was too young but after playing that he was allowed in the band, just saying :)

  • @purplehaze974

I was just going to comment the same thing!! haha

  • Thanks, David for playing my uncle's music/ arrangement I've actually never heard it until now- my parents were very low key about my dad and uncle's music careers- thanks for posting! Oh also, do you have the song "Enjoy" , on track A of I'm the Fiddle Man? Thanks

    A. Freeman

  • @cupidsfodder - Sorry, but this is the only 45 I have of your uncles music. Thanks for your comment.

  • I still remember the day I first heard this now classic piece in October 1957. It was the first 45 rpm sound recording I purchased, and it's still my favourite R&B performance.

  • You're right this is the best version....!!!

  • I got the later, black with rainbow "Sticks" label, so my copy isn't worth as much. :( Still a great song!

  • Youched my music memory with this one--Bruce in Oregon

  • I always thought this was the best version!

  • @cupidsfodder

I used to know your dad and uncle a bit...Is Art Freeman still alive?

  • Ernie's Number 4 hit from 1957 was competing with 2 other versions. Billy Vaughn's went to Number 10 & Bill Justis peaked the highest with his rendition at Number 2.
