I'm guessing they probably don't mean the guys recorded this in one of their bedrooms...My guess is it means that it sounds 'rough' compared to the final version of the song. So instead of sounding pretty much perfect like it would on an album or whatever, this is the very early stages of the song. Thats my take on it anyway...
