  • Captive, you are right on Dobermans being family dogs. Though I'd say if you have young kids, start with a puppy or a dog a few months old. And make sure you train them right away. Dobermans WANT to be part of the family. My friends have brought their baby child over and set in on the floor. Our Doberman acted like a mom dog with the baby. It was hilarious to watch. These are GREAT family dogs, but I think they need to be established first, as part of the family. Once there, you have a friend.

  • Wow, at 0:12 you can really see the greyhound shape that's in Dobies. Those powerful hind haunches.

  • Shes so cute. Congrats for your lady.

  • I agree with captive, although its probably-as with any dog- the best when dogs and children are raised together... otherwise "testing" them out together would be a good idea before being completely sure of keeping the dog...

    I love mine!!!!

  • hello there i am to about take a doberman from a friend who can no longer care for it and was wondering are these usually playful dogs or quiet and are they compatabile with small childern such as 2-5 year olds? and your dog is awesome !!!

  • As I assume you already have the dog, because you asked this four months ago, I guess you already have your answer. They are very playful, and love children. They are truly family dogs, and anyone who says otherwise needs to go back to school, because they have no idea what they are talking about. :p
