@Zamriasra like every battle starts when the fighters are 2 feet away from each other. retard. you would have more then enough time to draw from your back if you saw your opponent from viewing distance, say 60 yards? Also, why the fuck would you have your sword in your scabbard in the battlefield anyway? you only put that shit away when you're not in a fighting enviroment.
@Foilsdown iaido was only incorperated into a martial practice a decade before the meiji restoration when samurai werent really being mobilized on an open battlefeild. it was more applicable for the samurai who was more in an urban setting... even so the motion of shiburi (shaking blood from the blade) actually isnt applicable atall. if u notice in most historical accounts of samurai from that era they used to carry sheets of rice paper in their gi.. it was to wipe their blade after use.
Nobody looks cool wielding a katana. You don't know how to use it. You've got a cheap knock off. You're not in feudal japan. It's nowhere near as interesting as the art of european fencing. Gun technology has since been invented and perfected. If it weren't for samurai westerns, none of the "can chop twenty men in one swing" myths would exist. It's a flimsy chunk of metal that can break pretty easily. Nobody would give a shit about this sword.
@samisyosam It's a flimsy piece of metal that can break easily? I can hit it with a hammer multiple times, but it won't break. Sure, it's not the best sword, but that doesn't mean it is a piece of shit.
@samisyosam I think if you did take up a form such as Iaido you may find it to be a very very interesting as well as challenging artform. I disagree also with your stereotyping all swordas as being the same. The great majority of katana that can be bought online are utter shite and should be called "Wallhangers" as they are no good for anything else. However if you look hard enough there are some exceptional swords out there.
@StevePoppers Nah I'm not. I meant it in height. Stand besides a japanese man and when you stop laughing your ass off, you'll see the difference. :P (By the way there is a video that gives an idea: Draw both the sword AND the sheeth in the two opposite direction in the same time.)
@StevePoppers I know this comment is a bit old, but I decided to comment anyway. I think he was refering to your size. You have your measurements in the description box. My personal view is, if you want to draw from the back, use a smaller sword, lol, but I know that was not the point.
@StevePoppers i think he was racist :P he prob meant to say that japanese men are smaller so something like that thus, for them this would not have been as easy,, and by the way :P this was realy cool and realy good ...... <3 it!!!!
@StevePoppers - I think he's inferring you're taller and have longer arms.
The only reason you'd have a sword tied to your back is for temporary positioning whilst crawling low to the ground, say if you were reconnoitring an enemy position.
You do prove a valuable point here though - in that it's an impractical placement for a sword, which I think is a useful bit of info to get across to people.
There was a rather retarded debate in a forum focused on swords whether or not it was even possible to draw from the back and return it to the sheath without removing it from your back.
Yes, that is the point of noto, but not the point I was trying to make.
I didn't make this video but to prove what ought to be an obvious point to a few particular people: that doing this is POSSIBLE. Nothing more.
make sure all your enemies are dead when you put it back...

seemed kinda akward, i think that any swordsman worth his salt would have drawn from the hip and killed you before you could do that.

@Zamriasra the point was to prove you CAN draw it from the back -.-

even if you can draw a sword from your back, you always look like a retard carrying it that way

You spent over half the video trying to put it back when I could have sheathed a sword from the hip 5 times.

@shikibiomernok For what purpose?
I hope you're not assuming all Japanese men know how to properly wield a Japanese sword, or that only Japanese men are capable of doing so.
Cuz that'd be racist. :D

@RandlesBear And of course still considerable less speed in drawing it when compared to drawing a blade from your hip.

@RandlesBear Other than that while drawing your sword, a vertical chop motion leaves you open.

uh, isnt the point of noto to stay aware of your surroundings and be prepared to redraw at a moments notice,
i think you fail on that regard, which may get you a less than desired result on any serious martial arts forum
