  • wow, really nice!

  • What medium are you using to paint? Acrylic?

  • Absolutely love this -- thank you for sharing!

  • Wow, you amaze me. I am a beginning painter at age 48. I know it's late and I will most likely never be that good, but I love painting and it seems to take my stress away! My question for you is....why do all my oil portraits look cartoonish? Seems no matter how hard I try they never look realistic. Thank you, and please keep showing us your work!

  • great song! great painting!

  • great painting, im impressed by how well you do the face design without doing a sketch first

  • I love your strokes! I know so many people who are obsessed with using the tiniest brushes but you seem fearless about using that large flat brush.

  • I love this song! thank you for leading me to it :D I love that portrait :]

  • Could you tell me what colours I would need to paint a portrait, ps i am actullay slightly colout blind, but it doesn't stop me from drawing and attempting to paint!.

  • Thanks for the tips. Great choice of music too.(;

(I think you are qualified to make a tutorial)

  • you really are a fantastic artist. Im at uni at the moment doin a fine art course and im actually looking at portraits myself. I'm just wondering how you were taught or if you just kind of picked it up? i work in a different style to you but i really think your work is beautiful and i think i'm gonna have a go at your technique. really lovely, keep up the good work! x

  • Does Anybody Knows Why this Kind Of Music, makes me feel like Crying??

  • This is probably a question you've already been asked a BILLION times, but did you use acrylic paints? If so, then there is hope for me XD I've started painting, recently, and portraits are my specialty when it comes to drawing, but painting has proven to be a whole other demon. haha Acrylics dry so fast! D:

  • im still an amateur, i have to draw it on the canvas first lol

  • @Asleepymystikal there is nothing wrong with that...art is so subjective now that even the best portrait artist use gridding techniques...as long as you aint tracing then you are creating art pal.

  • WOW!

  • nice

  • That is wonderful! Truly inspiring! You are great with Acrylic!

  • Handsome.

  • omg amazing

  • Beautiful--a very effective painterly approach!

  • You are amazing. Your video has been extremely helpful, thank you.

  • i think it's amazing how you paint directly with out drawing out any guidelines first

  • wow how it all comes together.

  • Amazing. Absolutely perfect!

  • Could you please let us know what colour palette you are using? Thank you for uploading :D

  • holy sh*t you're using gel medium?? I thought that was oil! I usually do semigloss layers over acrylic + retarder. You restored my confidence in direct painting.

  • What's the song called?

  • @Leddido It says in the description: Colorblind by Counting Crows

  • Nicely done! Curious on what your elapsed time was (not including bathroom breaks!! lol)

  • OMG this is amazing. I'm trying to paint a portrait but they don't right. Any tips?

  • Aw, you're definitely good enough to make tutorials!

  • crap

  • blocking in is a great way to learn portraits and any subject matter really. It gets you to "learn" what you're painting or drawing. Like meeting someone for the first time. The big welcoming 'Hello, how are you?' (First impressions) and on to the getting to know them (the details)

  • sry for asking but how old are u? ur hands look so young^^ btw amazing work

  • i have to do an acrylic piece for my art class and this helped a lot. Thanks!

  • Absolutely brilliant! Soo impressive and such a stunning piece - thank you! 8)

im trying to learn from your video, because im not really into painting like you do. but now for christmas id like to have a special present for someone, you know ;)

    love your video!

  • Thats awesome!

The best paintings are surprise gifts ;)

  • how do i get the skin colour? With only primary colours-black,white,red,blue,yellow.

    How do i mixed?:P

  • can anybody help me, i got bob ross oil to paint. does oil take a day or so to dry??? anybody? also what is brand of paint is best for face portraits? and acrylic or oils?

  • oil can take weeks to dry. It all depends on how thickly you paint it on and possibly how much thinner you use. There are many factors...

  • Oil can take a long time to dry, though there are types that you can 'bake dry' (the quality may be lowered)

I prefer acrylics, others may prefer watercolor etc. Just get your feet wet in lots of media

  • all i can say is WOW. im impressed. this was truly fascinating!

  • great!

  • nice portrait BAD music^^

  • hahah

  • srsly..never listen to that again...

  • Amazing.

  • Awsome video... beautiful music... thanks...

  • This is really good!!!

What colours do u mix to get the skin tones???

  • Great video, I love your style, it looks crazy!!

  • very life like....loved watching ...........

  • Great video, I love how you build up the layers of of paint to get the right color, if you have time can you please look at my video of my paintings and studio and tell me what you think, Thanks!!!

  • I love your brushstroke technique but what about the background? I always find it difficult to add a background when the hair is a dark color, it tends to blend in.

  • wow. that's amazing.

so on the face you only used like three or four colors? but like just peach and brown for the basic and the shadows... wonderfully goooodness! lol

  • so beautiful

  • I love it! Excellent work.

I love how you just started painting. No sketch or anything.

  • Hopefully these videos give some inspiration to people starting out that not everything is perfect or planned out in painting. I meant to elaborate more but it's been a year of no updates, so I'm only just getting started on what I want to express here.

  • im gonna have to agree with stereo123...what did you do wrong while painting?

  • Oh, so that's what I've been doing wrong. thanks for the informative video

  • What mdeium did you use? Oils or acrylics? Have you ever painted people of tanned skin colors? What type of colors do you use to cast the shadows?

  • its acrylic

  • i don't get the title, the results look pretty good to me.
