  • yeah i think he knows there are about a gazillion chinese languages, but those ARE the top 2 (and the most recognisable for non-chinese) and when you're doing stand-up for a certain length of time ya can't list 'em all...

  • There is aroumd 52000 dialects in china not just 2

  • There are many dialects in China, not just Mandarin and Cantonese, there are also Fukienese, Hakka, Wu, Gan, Siang, Tsin, and a bunch of others.

  • I remember somebody once asked me to say something in "Indian". I replied, "Something in Indian."

  • @TheCutekiwi: actually..!!

  • It's stupid how 32 seconds of comedy gets people creating problems with culture and shit. wtf get over it, he's a comedian people.

  • which stand up is this, may i have the name please? and i appriciate it thnx people

  • its exactly pune... If you have been to pune they seriously talk like that... I guess Russel has some family heritage from Pune... But I swear to you, I known pune people and I have heard them saying hello like that...

  • @sidbat891

Loll no the only place i feel that closest to that is New Delhi, Pune and Mumbai they have a much better diction over the language, well thats my observation when i came to india.

  • Isn't it ''NAMASTE'' or something??

  • @thawanteds haha yes it is lol. its namaste in hindi but there are many other ways of saying hi in india than just that because there r so many languages in india there's a different word in each language. for example in punjabi hi is susreakall (sorry i dnt rlly kno how to spell it). But there are many ways to greet each other in india. However the most common language in india is hindi. It is the most widely spoken.

  • @124simran Haha, he forgot Malayalam too.

  • i'm indian

  • hellllloooooooooooo

  • There is no language as "important" in India !! U can definitely live without having to learn Punjabi. why do ppl hv dat mentality? Every language n culture is equally important and must be mutually respected. Atleast that's what I follow as an Indian

  • There is no language called indian. theres punjabi, and the best word is Fodi

  • namaste is how you say in Hindi lol

  • this is just stand up comedy, american dont actually think indian is a language, but mashallah Indians are greatest educators of their culture, going by the top comments section :)

    peace out

  • Chinese exists as a written language. That's why you can have youtube show up in Chinese and not Mandarin, Cantonese, Min Nan, etc.

  • @RFilmyer Langue in French means tongue and it comes from Latin. When you say: native tongue, you are talking about language right? Language is what you speak(like how you use your tongue and also vibrations by using your trachea, you get my point). There isn't only one way you can read Chinese writing or Hanyu in China. The biggest dialects are Mandarin and Cantonese. Except for the grammar and the way it's pronounced, the writing is the same so that's why it's on youtube like that.

  • You got that right Russell Peter. White sounding name. He just tries to fit in and blend in with the white dudes.

  • there are more than 78 languages in India. If I had to answer that question it would take me ages.

  • @amanpatel77

    or at least 78 seconds.

  • @amanpatel77 acutally there are 18 official languages with hundreds of local dialects

  • @amanpatel77 366 accents

  • Today I asked my friend how to say hi in Indian...she told me to look this video up.

  • To all people who are giving me the list of all languages present in india assuming I'm only giving importance to one language.I'm only saying that people think the language which is taken from the country's name is not like Indian from India, but it's Hindi from Hindustan (derivative name for the modern word India).

    Thats it...

  • @ancientphoenixians ..hindi doesnt came from hindustan,i suppose...the word "hindustan","hindi","hindu" all came from the persian for the river "Indus",which is called "sindhu" in india......

Hindustani is the modern name for a group of languages (mainly hindi)in northern pat of india.

In india theer are main 200 languages and out of them 22 languages have been gives status of scheduled languages.

    india has no national language

  • @XXXMuSiCMAnIaXXXI India's National language is Hindi jackass.

  • @Ankur95Biswas ...heyy dont foulmouth..no need to show that u are from an uncultured family..

In a PIL filed in Gujarat high court seeking a mandamus, honble. court has observed that Hindi is not the national language.

  • @XXXMuSiCMAnIaXXXI When did i ever say India has a national language or one language is more important than others ??????

I know all the words have their ultimate common origin from the word Indus.

The word 'hindustan' was shortened to hind which leads to hindu and hindi.

And you are right that india has 200 languages and out of them 22 languages have been gives status of scheduled languages. But how is this relevent to the current video??

  • @ancientphoenixians ..well no relevance infact..just givin a lil info to others whu might have a feelin that hindi is the only language..

+ hind is not shortened form of hindustan.....hind came first and hindustan came then......arabic numerals used to refer 0 as "hindsa" means "from india"...

  • @XXXMuSiCMAnIaXXXI Fair enough......

But one cant really comment which word came first....as they all originated in the same period...maybe hindustan firstly came up from indus and then all others..one cant really say...it's like which came first - a hen ot the egg!!!!

  • fuk you russel

  • There is no language called Indian. There are Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarathi, Malayalam, Assamese etc.

  • @psspeed all right smart ass, you re getting a hurt real bad !

  • @psspeed

    punjabi :)

  • @PunjabiKuriSwag of couse biff :)

  • @psspeed

    punjabi

  • @psspeed dont forget urdu u racist punk. urdu is after hindi and bengali. 180 million muslims. shahruk amir salman speak that not gujarati or malayam.

  • @halfvolley11 urdu and hindi are the same language, just different writing systems.

  • @halfvolley11 fuck off you troll...no food for you here. graze somewhere else.

  • @halfvolley11 Ok how is not mentioning urdu, a racist thing?.... Is urdu a race?.. Is islam a race?... oh yeah, one more thing, Fuck You.

  • @halfvolley11 Okay, chill we know Urdu is a language in India. He is not racist, and there is an expiry date criticising him for not mentioning all 78 major languages in India!

  • @psspeed

    Russell is from Kannada......

    ....so is Tom Green

  • @themilanxperience You mean canada?? because 'kannada' is a language in India spoken by some 50 million people.

  • @themilanxperience First off, the state is called Karnataka, the language is Kannada, it's okay though, I made that mistake several times myself.

  • @psspeed you forgot punjabi -___-

  • @psspeed you forgot punjabi asshole. way to name most of the South Indian weak languages.

  • @indians3737 does it really matters that all of the languages are not included in the comment?? just conveyed what he wanted to.

  • @ajitseq actually Punjabi is a very important language bud. he can convey all he wants, but he shouldnt only use south indian languages when Punjabi is an important language.

  • @indians3737 Weak South Indian Languages u say?........Learn ur History Sardar!!....Our southern languages were the basis of the northern ones!!

  • @onmidavid hey man cmon! we're all indian here! jus chill out. im punjabi too, dnt make fun of sardars. dude sardars r the shit! nd north indians... dnt make fun of south indians. a lil bit of joking is ok but not too far. seriously this is y all these americans hav such a wide range of perspectives of indian ppl. we hav to stick together to teach them about india nd our culture so they wont b so ignorant towards us, but if WE r gonna put ourselves down how can u expect others not to?

  • @saucycheese313 Finally, a comment other than the list of languages, that I can agree with.

  • @saucycheese313 u r talking about teaching a lesson and u urself r saying sardars and north indians are shit

better change urself instead of changing world

  • @rahulajin wtf r u talkin bout? I said tht all indians, north and south r equal

  • @saucycheese313 shut up man it's a bloody joke chill out and take it in a joking way

  • @addyn25 yea ik its a joke. i laughed my ass off, but other people dnt get it. they start attacking each other and pissin each other off. when we're all indians nd we all hav to stay united cuz if we dont our traditions nd culture will slowly die out. im talkin to the ppl who take it in a non joking way who try to insult each other wen i make tht comment

  • @onmidavid All Punjabis aren't Sardarjis! I am South Indian, and I very much appreciate it that he mentioned our languages, and we ARE NOT weak, but similarizing, I know it's not a word, an entire group of people is what fuels conflict.

  • @indians3737 Whoa, no calling the South Indian languages weak. I happen to be South Indian. And he wouldn't mention all the languages in India, for that would fill up a large majority of the page anyway.

  • @psspeed sounds indian to me.

  • @psspeed You forgot the most important one.....PUNJABI

  • Comment removed

  • @immortalcelsius Haha, owned.

  • alright smart ass! hahaha

  • @ancientphoenixians

  • @maaysa2009 I agree ,but if somebody calls the language INDIAN, it quite obviously means he is refering to Hindi.
