  • Its called the Marshall Plan because of Marshall amplifiers. Get it?

  • @SPAZZOBOXER Yes indeedey, interesting reference to the Horatio Alger myth, not so well known this side of the Atlantic. Only query, why is it titled The Marshall Plan ?

  • le meilleur album de Cult

  • I wasn't looking for live... DUMBASS!

  • Spazzoboxer said it all! Kudos my friend!

  • To the fools who don't grasp it, the song is tongue-in-cheek satire in the vein of The Tubes etc. Its not meant to be taken wholly seriously.

  • 1 dislike? That guy must be some stupid faggot!

  • yeah, where is the time, i was jumping on my bed, only 12 years old in the middle of the night , my father thought i went crazy, but i still love them, greatings from belgium

  • "If I only had a good guitar and a big amp..." And the imagination and talent of BOC to think up this song up in the first place.

  • Because it is. He was at a rock show

  • Why does the guitar at 2:34 sound a hell of a lot like the riff in Smoke On The Water?

  • @SifMons it's part of the satire,

  • @SifMons i think it was :/

  • i'm gonna play it bad, i'm gonna play it loud, its gonna sound like.... its gonna sound like..... HERE'S JOHNNY!

  • tell me ...please....weho is the deaf fucker who didn't like this ????...i will travel the Earth to seek you out and slice your fuc king carotid artery....douchebag !....c'mon.....fuck with me mother fucker....dare ya

  • Long Island's own. Still making us proud! \m/

  • obama sucks azzz

  • @realroadrunner69 What is the connection between this song and Obama? I'm lost.

  • Zappa-esque in the satirical humor department for sure and damn good Rock and Roll too

  • zappa-esque in the satirical humor department for sure and damn good Rock and Roll too

  • I voted for Obama and I love this song. So there!

  • Only a damn Obama voter would vote dislike to this song.....

  • When I think of the legendary music mogul, I always think of this great song. RIP Don Kirshner

  • A great great tune from a uniquely brilliant band. Had this on vinyl for years but is sadly lost now. This is the best song on the album. Tongue in cheek yet serious approach to their music ... lets hope Metallica don't try to cover (and murder) this one! Thanks for posting.

  • @marmalade139 just buy acopy on vinyl from ebay

  • Eric Bloom plays guitar too while Buck is singing, great dual guitar singing band.

  • Why is ths channel so fuckin' good, oh yeah, its BOC dedication, fuckin' A!!!

  • BOC Rules! Thanks for posting.

  • What does Eric Bloom do when Buck Dharma is singing?

  • @bucky468 Doesn't he play guitar as well?

  • One person missed the "like" button

  • What are you guys talking about? Johnny's ambitions of rockstardom are a clear metaphor for the desire of US policymakers to rebuild Europe as a stable, liberal democratic bulwark against the Soviet Union. Also his girlfriend? Hitler.

  • I'm pretty sure 'The Marshall Plan' is the plan Johnny has to get his girlfriend back ie. getting a whole stage full of Marshall amplifiers. At least that's how I've always seen it...

  • @SPAZZOBOXER Couldn't have put it better. Must investigate the Horatio Alger part, 'The Marshall Plan' only means funding German rebuilding after WW2 to me.

  • I've been listening to a bunch of old BOC albums and came across this gem. Its now one of my favorites by the band and maybe in my top 100 of all time.

  • TONIGHT!!

  • Well Said....

  • Love this song!!! Love B.O.C!

  • This song has some of the same messages as Twisted Sister`s The Price.......

  • This song had a very unique writing credit, first and last of it's kind. That's one big Cultosaurus. Look at that Jet under it's chin, logo blazen!

  • Apparently too many bong hits over the years made me forget this song. Welcome back brain!

  • This song is USA policy REMEMBER BERLIN???

  • Great song, they are just talking about a good rock n roll show.

so they started the riff from Deep.

  • @FuzzyHatchet yeah man the deep purp definately are good rock n roll!

  • this is the Ultimate song of hope for an aspiring rock band!

  • I'm gonna play some heavy music.

I'm gonnal play it bad !

I'M GONNA PLAY IT LOUD !

  • Maybe it is that many guitarist first riff they ever learn is smoke on the water. It was my first riff i ever played

  • Hah, first riff I learnt for me too.

  • I dont think they wrote this song spefically about DP, even though they borrowed a riff, I think its about EVERY rock n roll band!

  • I can't help but think this is about Deep Purple. They took a quick rif from Smoke on the Water, at 2:33, so I kinda wondered. I mean, the song's basically about a band hitting it big right ? Well... Deep Purple was one of the biggest and hardest rocking bands in it's time, So i just kinda figured this song was about them.

  • The middle section is about the dream a lot of people have of becoming a rock star. They think all they need is a good guitar, a big amp and some local musicians from an add to become a good guitar player and make it big. I am glad I heard this sarcastic song when I was 14. It reaffirmed my thoughts that I needed to practice more and that its not an easy business to break into. And just because your a good guitar player doesn't mean you will be a big star.

  • Erectus and Fire....the two best BOC albums IMO.

  • I have just ordered the two from Amazon. I'm quite excited.

  • Those are the only two albums I still have of them. I've always had a copy of these two. But 'Some enchanted evening' is their best.

  • def. a rocking tune

  • Cultosaurus Erectus: One of the finest Hard Rock records ever made. Personifying everything great about the Long Play format. The album encompasses a full range of styles, moods & subject matter; effectively delivered by musicians in their collective prime; operating in an elevated creative orbit. The timeless, inspirational Horatio Alger story delivered via "The Marshall Plan"; a song blending top flight musical ability, chemistry & dynamics with Eric Bloom's stellar vocals, humour & sarcasm.

  • Why are some of your American colleagues so against any positive criticisim if it does not go down the usual path of ' kick ass' and so on ? Ultimately you end up with the ersatz Bruce Springsteen. BOC are one of the greats, up there with Zeppelin, and probably with more integrity. I could go on.

  • @SPAZZOBOXER Had a feeling that was your response mate. Hoping all is well :)

  • @SPAZZOBOXER I have loved this album since I first got it when I was years old...When I need a good music fix to this day I call on this very album so often. I am 42 now and still love it...I met these guys in Vancouver once at the 86 street music hall. Got Erics autograph...was great. Enjoyed your comments.

  • @SPAZZOBOXER I damm well agree

  • @SPAZZOBOXER Own it on record and spent hours driving and burning up BOC in my car years ago. Great band.
