The people who built the tower of babel were trying to prove how "great" they were and ignored God's instructions to spread out across the Earth.

The reason every religion is filled with absurdities, such as Noah's Ark or Tower of Babel or parting of the sea, is because the ignorant masses cannot be brainwashed by being made to believe in things that make sense. You have to make the ignorant masses believe in things that are totally absurd in order to bring them under psychological control. Once you have them under psychological control, you can syphen all their money and get them to sacrifice their lives for your purposes.

You pose a very interesting theory.
If it is true (which it may very well be), then the more shocking a claim is, the more it will appeal to the mentally warped and psychologically unstable. This could provide a solid reasoning as to why the poor are more likely to latch onto religion, the poorest being the fringe fundamentalist constituents.
Truly, a powerful argument could be made in support of your statement.

The bible is telling us that man was never meant to go up to heaven. we cant be on the same level as god. ok. so in order for god to not allow the men to go up to heaven he had to divide them.

Hope you don't mind but time is running out. When the messiah arrives and is revealed to the world it means the world ends.(Luke 17:29,30). The 2nd coming is dated to 1992, so the messiah did arrive. Yup! It's ME. After the sealing of the saints then the world ends, so that ended last month. So I'm about to start claiming I'm the messiah on You Tube and will see what happens. My "coming out" sort of means everybody has been judged and marked already, so it's not a "last call" to convert...

What's crazy is that Christian creationists really do deny linguistic evolution. They aren't as outspoken about it as they are about biological evolution, but they aren't happy about it either. You should read Tower of Babel by R. Pennock if you haven't already.
That was a pretty good point about learning foreign languages. I never thought of it that way.

I could have been brought up in mexico and would have Learned Spainish growing up... I grew up in Wisconsin so I grew up Learning English... THERE ARE ENGLISH CLASSES IN ENGLISH SPEAKING SCHOOLS. In past centuries American Christians actually DID learn these ancient languages. Harvard College began outside Boston for the study of these languages.
So the American Founders were heretics in the eyes of modern fundamentalists. No surprise there, though. "That guy" doesn't have much respect for the Constitution he "swore" (with a smirk) to defend.

If nothing evolved..language, or people...we wouldnt have the things we do today. Language went from body language, which is still used today, to grunting..to form words. How we came up with these word baffles my mind. There seams to be a skip somewhere, where we were grunting, then all of a sudden, we were useing metal, and talking.

I believe in GOD. The bible is a guide and was also written 2000 years ago. There is NO WAY they could comprehend our way of life today. Therefore, we can NOT take ALL that the bible say verbatum. But, we SHOULD follow it's meaning and intent. God said "ALL men are created equal"... "All men have sinned and have come short of the glory of God". Learning Spanish or French, the languages of the lazy cowards who cross our borders illegally and fail to fight terrorism, is morally wrong. There is no difference in the eyes of God between choosing to be bilingual or choosing to be bisexual.
I speak the Hetro-English language with pride and conviction, and the knowledge that God favorite children speak English. That's why he gave us more money and more guns. He loves us best.
