  • Very funny another athiest idiot. Mocking the bible good luck with that the consequenses can be servere oh thats right you do not believe in it.

  • @glendaweil

The bible is one of the most mockable things ever written.

Somehow not being taken in by childish fables makes one an 'idiot'.

    Now that's 'severe' consequences!

  • @proudfootz Like I said more idiotic athiest BS.

  • @glendaweil

    Nothing BS about atheism.

The BS is all in the bible.

  • @proudfootz What a rock of crap never met a smart athiest you think your smart but your only fooling yourself.

  • @glendaweil

One doesn't have to be very smart to see through the chidishness of the bible.

What's sad is all the apparently intelligent people who believe in magical ghosts who create something from nothing...

  • @proudfootz - I do like the part with behemoths, dragons, Satyr, sea monsters, Unicorns, Flying/fiery serpents, beast with 7 heads and of course, Zombie Jesus.

    ALL HAIL ZOMBIE JESUS!

Glendawell, sorry. Bible is not real.

  • What a crock.

  • yep u must quit school

  • Preacher Dan you're a star!

I really wish God could miraculously enlighten his 'children' on the meaning of satire. God better keep his other job of being the all seeing all knowing do nothing kinda loser, instead of a teacher. ;-)

  • Oh NO! My daughter married a man from Nepal! They're teaching their son both English & Nepalese!

Oh Preacher Dan - does this mean they are going to HELL?

  • @KidsandKarma

Dan sez they needn't go to hell if they repent of their ways.

  • Preacher Dan wouldn't have his Bible to preach from, without someone who had done the "evil" of learning other languages in order to translate the Bible from those languages into English.

  • The twin towers of babel. ever since 9/11 & those fucking towers went down, its like Americans are all speaking different languages. You got your truthers & conspiracy theortists & denialists & sheep. The uppermost elite pulling the strings & all the other criminals in high places. All these religious nuts that play in every group, but everyone is standing far away from. CNN & Fox evolve into duality. Propaganda increases to combat conspiracy. With bills like s510, we are headed for revolt.

  • @LendMeYourHand

Clearly the 9/11 attacks worked in sowing confusion and discord. The terrorists thrive in conditions of chaos and it acts as camouflage for their real objectives.

Looking at the Iraq occupation it seems like it could hardly have been more screwed up - unless it was done on purpose...

  • gee im watching the english language evolve just in the past 20 something years or so.

  • @brianwurst1234 imagine if in the future people will say that people built the WTC to reach god and god sent terrorists to punish us.

  • Why did god give us words like "evolution"?

  • @321Carl2000

It must all be part of God's 'plan' to separate the sheep and the goats...

  • the bible is bullshit. the tower of babel proves it.

  • So God gave us English pretty recently. Then he gave us Beyonce, who in turn gave us words like budilicious. That is in fact officialy a word in the dictionary so i guess it is divinely ordained.

  • @RealityofThings

God giveth, and god taketh away....

  • @RealityofThings bootylicious came about in the early 90's believe it or not, it later evolved into smackabootylicious & fuckalicious by time Beyonce came into the scene. Some words were revised from past eras such as P'WND, which states in the wiki that it was during a Warcraft game, But it was actually from a hacker a decade earlier that would put 'owned on peoples desktops that he hacked. It was a type-o. It then was a inside joke referencing there victims as newbies when playing online.

  • @RealityofThings Cont. Not that your post wast totally funny, i just figured you may want to know many words have been revised from the past. And that is evident in music today, when they come out with songs & these kids nowadays think the artists wrote the overdubs, when it was more likely Phil Collins', "In the Air Tonight"

  • Hahaha! Nice!

  • So what about African American slaves, who didn't have a choice, and was forced to learn English?

  • Preacher Dan is a complete idiot.

  • keso -

Dan just believes the bible is literally true.

  • why do you talk in this ridiculous manner

  • @patto2k cause the Bible is ridiculous, pal

  • These sound more like terms to describe someone who doesn't want to own up to their actions and be held accountable for the way they've lived their life, ignoring and ridiculing the Master of the Universe. You don't want to be told how to live, you can't accept that Someone else could possibly know better than you, so you're doing the best thing you can think of to get other people to agree with you. I sincerely hope you're happy with this life, because with that attitude, it's all you're gettin

  • There is no 'master of the universe' - such ridiculous notions belong in the stone age where they originated.

  • the story of the tower of babel illustrates what happens when we do not aknowledge God and become proud of what we're doing on our own.

The people who built the tower of babel were trying to prove how "great" they were and ignored God's instructions to spread out across the Earth.

So, God punished them for their arrogance by splitting them up.

  • Yes, the god of the bible is very jealous and fearful and likely to attack without warning.

Such a being is to be pitied and not worshipped.

  • Comment removed

  • first of all, taking one verse fro the bible, and using it out of context, is not preaching.

The whole point of that story was to show that when's our ambitions get too high, and we try to put ourselves on a higher level than God, He'll step in and put us in our place.

try reading the new testament; it commands us to into all the world, and evangelise the nations. How can we do that if we can only speak our one "God given" language?

look up Philippians 2:10-11, and 1 chronicles 16:23-25.

  • e&w -

The whole story of the tower of Babel just takes a few verses - so it's not one verse as you seem to think.

God's methods are clear - he lashes out in fear of his own creations.

  • Great video-- Excellent points regarding fundamentalist's "selective protests".

  • Hello again Dan.

If you sincerely and strongly take a literal approach to God's Holy Word, then I commend you. But I must also admonish. We need to study the Bible to show ourselves approved unto God (II Tim. 2:15).

Jesus Himself, the spotless and sinless Son of God, knew and spoke more than one language. The scrolls He read from in the Temple were Hebrew. But He spoke the language of the day as well (Koine Greek). Paul was also multilingual (cf. Acts 21:37, 40). John too (Rev. 11:9)!

  • pksml -

    Thanks for the tip.

But even if jesus spoke more than one tongue, don't we know that he was exceptional being god and all?

  • What I'm getting at is that it's not wrong to speak more than one language. It's not God's will that we lock ourselves into knowing only one. The brightest translators of the KJV Bible knew over 30 languages! We would have no Bible if men didn't exercise themselves in learning them.

Yes, Jesus is supernatural (please capitalize His name), so He knows all languages. But Paul and John were only human.

The Babel confounding was in accordance with God's divine command to fill the earth (Gen. 1:28)

  • so... hes god so he automaticly knows everything. also.. paul called people fools in romans so he has sinned once

  • of course language evolved... from those base languages. and animals adapted from those base animals.

  • Yeah, from those base vocal grunts and those base microorganisms, respectively.

  • God apparently doesn't want humans to understand each other.

It must be a sin to communicate.

  • The people in the story were trying to dethrone God from supreme being. Whether or not they could actually do it is not the point. They did not respect God's will. Not only that but they were totalitarian and worshipped evil pagan God's. This is actually happening again today. It's called the New Secular Order.

  • dirty -

None of that is in the bible story.

All it says is that god was afraid of the humans so he attacked them.

If something is secular it is separate from religion, so the alleged worship of gods doesn't make any sense.

  • if god is omniscient... didnt he know that the heaven would be outside the universe if it existed at all

  • this god must be a little paranoid...

  • I know this is hard for you to understand considering your profile picture shows your ten year's old and probably havn't gotten to Middle School yet. The Babylonians wanted to dethrone God by making everyone worship them. They wanted the glory for everything and the Tower was a tribute to their superiority. That's about as simple as I can explain it.

By the way, calling someone a fools isn't sinning.

  • "making everyone worship them" so i see. god doesnt magically reveal himself to babylon so everyone can worship him as god in babylon and everyone flocks to babylon and they credit the tower to god so everyone worships him. no, far too simple. lets garble their speeech instead

  • arach -

No one ever said this god was very smart.

  • still, some people think hes omniscient. i thought a designer of the cosmos would understand the concept of space, so its kinda food for thought

  • By Him all things are created. Read the Book of Genesis. Oh and in the Christian world you have to give evidence of something. You can't just say it happened.

  • God is completely sovreign and is the creator and grandmaster ruler of all things. He will have things HIS way, that may not be very convenient for you but he WILL get what he wants.

  • dirty -

Apparently this god wants you to lie about what's in the bible.

That *is* rather inconvenient for those who are interested in the truth.

  • ? How is that a response to anything I said? By the way I don't know what God you're looking at.

Exodus 20:16 "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour."

  • dirty -

A week ago you were adding stuff to the story that the people who built the tower wanted to dethrone this god and force people to worship them - that's not in the bible.

  • Ok keep saying that to yourself. While you do that I'll carry on living my life to it's full potential.

  • dirty -

The bible story doesn't say the Babylonians wanted to dethrone any god or get worshipped themselves.

"whosoever shall say, Thou Fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." - jesus

  • Where did it ever say that in the bible? Every passage I'm looking at doesn't reveal a thing about those intentions. I think the Babylonians were building a tower just because they could. And any way you would think coming from a family that has only known one God almighty, they would know you can't dethrone God. Especially since, according to the Bible, there is only suppose to be one language at this time. So how did they forget the power of God so quickly?

  • pytko -

Christians don't so much read the bible as read *into* it.

That way it can be used to 'prove' whatever they like.

  • As a Catholic, I just wanted to point out the problems with some of theories about the Tower of Babel story. For a long time the stories of Genesis were told orally and when they were finally written down, some parts had to have been lost in translation.

  • pytko -

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the story we have in Genesis is significantly different than the original.

  • If book of genesis proves that biological evolution is false, why can't it also prove that development of language is likewise false?

  • Whoever believes that the Tower of Babel story is true is an idiot. Languages have evolved in RECORDED HISTORY. Try reading "Beowulf" in its original Old English form. Old English is more similar to German than it is to modern English. It is ridiculous to think that an all-powerful god would be threatened by people building a stupid tower. Then he allows each group to multiply so that each group has enough people to build many Towers of Babel. Then for some reason god abandons the scatter tactic

  • But if there's a conflict between the bible and some public fact shouldn't we trust the bible more than anything?

  • Exactly.;)

  • Brilliant. Another arrow in my qiuver against retarded creationists. I had never really thought of using the Babel story to ridicule creationists but nothing makes more sense. Linguistic evolution occurs so quickly that even the most beligerent creationist would look like an idiot trying deny it. Then again, that never stopped em before...

  • This is all a clever trick. Preacher Dan is God and is testing our faith! As it says in the Bible, I shall have sex with a prostitute to illustrate our faithlessness ... can someone loan me some money?

  • it s so funny when people actually believe in this stuff lol...

  • And "all nations and toungs" will learn of His purposes how?

God gave gifts in men to speak "each hearing the word in his own toung".

You say God acted unrightously and therefore speak lies to suit your own ideas.

  • I have spoken no lies - but if God acted unrighteously that is His business.

  • The reason every religion is filled with absurdities, such as Noah's Ark or Tower of Babel or parting of the sea, is because the ignorant masses cannot be brainwashed by being made to believe in things that make sense. You have to make the ignorant masses believe in things that are totally absurd in order to bring them under psychological control. Once you have them under psychological control, you can syphen all their money and get them to sacrifice their lives for your purposes.

  • You pose a very interesting theory.

If it is true (which it may very well be), then the more shocking a claim is, the more it will appeal to the mentally warped and psychologically unstable. This could provide a solid reasoning as to why the poor are more likely to latch onto religion, the poorest being the fringe fundamentalist constituents.

Truly, a powerful argument could be made in support of your statement.

  • ...and there's also the possibility that such absurdities are a kind of 'litmus test' to determine just how gullible the subject is.

  • Wouldn't it be crazy if, after it was all said and done, those who DIDN'T believe were the ones actually chosen by some sentient being peering in from beyond the 9th dimension.

Damn it! I think I just made a new religion...

  • Historian and philosopher Richard Carrier proposed that only atheists will get to heaven because they are the only ones honest enough to see there's no reason to believe in a god.

  • Actually, the langauges look like there was at one point in time one langauge. They do not,for most languages, seem to have randomly developed from "ape-men." Linguistics supports Creationism.

  • 924 -

The historical record seems to indicate that languages 'evolved' from earlier languages, and were not just created all at once as the bible says.

  • The scary thing is that people watch this for the purposes of education. People believe this. It's sad.

  • Hi, there. Heads up from ProfMTH, predictable:

    Comment from ProfMTH:

OK, Larsguy, I've finally had my fill of you and your delusions. Have a nice life.

He didn't even suggest I seek a psychiatrist. This fits the scenario of " generation seeking a sign" that is, more than the scriptures. They want to see magic tricks, walking on water, raising the dead, THEN they will believe. But god gives them reality only it's an angel with a message..and a sword. Sad, but anyway... :>

  • But I thought it would be interesting to tell a couple non-believers ahead of time that I was watching them and their reactions as things develop. You know, that magical point where you're not really so sure any more. Anyway, you have a front row seat to my upcoming crazy ride. I bet though, many non-believers will respond before Xians who are so set in their own beliefs. Everything has happened exactly as the Bible said so far, so.. Hope you don't mind being a guinea pig for me with ProfMTH.

  • Im wondering why God dosent do the same to astronauts. I mean he did that for that crappy tower, the astronauts had the balls to go to space! What will he do to them?...hmm...

  • all right i said this in ur other vid. These are lessons. the lesson here is not in the languages but the tower. The bible is telling us that man was never meant to go up to heaven. we cant be on the same level as god. ok. so in order for god to not allow the men to go up to heaven he had to divide them.

  • cena -

That is what this series is about - the dangers of taking the bible literally.

  • Im wondering why God dosent do the same to astronauts. I mean he did that for that crappy tower, the astronauts had the balls to go to space! What will he do to them?...hmm...

  • Hope you don't mind but time is running out. When the messiah arrives and is revealed to the world it means the world ends.(Luke 17:29,30). The 2nd coming is dated to 1992, so the messiah did arrive. Yup! It's ME. After the sealing of the saints then the world ends, so that ended last month. So I'm about to start claiming I'm the messiah on You Tube and will see what happens. My "coming out" sort of means everybody has been judged and marked already, so it's not a "last call" to convert...

  • I guess some people just still take these things too literally.

Thats the stupidity of people not trying to comprehend what they read, and taking things for face value.

  • Yet what you demonstrated is the dangers of taking the bible out of context

  • I took the whole story context and all.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • nto -

I'm not convinced sundried even knows what 'context' means - I think he heard it's something you are supposed to say when the bible is quoted to demolish one's position.

  • Comment removed

  • What's crazy is that Christian creationists really do deny linguistic evolution. They aren't as outspoken about it as they are about biological evolution, but they aren't happy about it either. You should read Tower of Babel by R. Pennock if you haven't already.

That was a pretty good point about learning foreign languages. I never thought of it that way.

  • So sorry man. I din´t want to ofend you. I´ve just stepped out of the line. Feel sorry for what I said. God bless you and yours.

  • So, you´re also a sinner. Because the original bible was not written in English. So, It had to be translated into your language, your knockle head. Or as it has been said below. By the way did Jesus speak English? Give us a break and keep your ideas for yourself.

  • nos -

I'm really sorry I broke into your house, hooked up a computer, logged onto YouTube and forced you at gunpoint to watch this video.

    Please forgive me!

  • Learning foreign languages would be heresy.

Esperanto and American Sign Language would be blasphemy.

So, the YouTube Blasphemy Challenge should be responded to with Esperanto.

  • So, the people (and celebrities), who adopt foreign babies and DO NOT talk to them ONLY in the language of their birth country are all heretics acording to the bible?

  • det -

Yes, god apparently did not want people talking to one another - felt it was a threat to god's position.

What a wonderful god they have going there!

  • Obviously, you don't believe a word of this... Congratulations Captain Satire, you wanted a reaction, you got it.

  • Makes sense to me. god wouldn't have put up a babbling tower if he wanted us to learn other tongues.

  • hmmmm... wat do u believe in POLY?

  • The bible consists of 3 different languages... I hate narrow minded people especially when they try to preach. Second of all... I could have been brought up in mexico and would have Learned Spainish growing up... I grew up in Wisconsin so I grew up Learning English... THERE ARE ENGLISH CLASSES IN ENGLISH SPEAKING SCHOOLS. Stupid people need to stop breeding!

  • drave -

So I take it you think god acted wrongly in giving people separate languages?

  • no, i think he just called you stupid... (:

  • proudfootz shouldn't quit his day job, (if he has one) he clearly knows nothing on how to interpret the bible, much less on Creationism.

  • AMEN!!

  • Hold on, if we're not to learn other languages then how can we translate the bible????

  • mec -

    It is a sin.

The bible should only be read in its original King James version.

  • Did you know that not the entire Bible is meant to be taken 100% literally? also where does it say that God made these languages in one day? Or that he made them all separate and they wouldn't evolve from there?

Also you can't seriously believe that the King James version is the original version of the Bible?

  • What? Lol eh so did jesus speak english then.

  • mec -

Well, I hardly think all our television preachers are all that fluent in ancient Hebrew or whatever.

Besides, didn't god tell the president to invade Iraq? Don't tell me that guy's an expert in mesopotamian....

  • In past centuries American Christians actually DID learn these ancient languages. Harvard College began outside Boston for the study of these languages.

So the American Founders were heretics in the eyes of modern fundamentalists. No surprise there, though. "That guy" doesn't have much respect for the Constitution he "swore" (with a smirk) to defend.

  • FYI, the "original" KJV of the bible was translated from Hebrew and Greek...

  • Apparently this god thinks it is wrong for humans to understand one another and work together.

The story of Babel proves the bible god is jealous and afraid of his own creatures.

What a sad, pitiful being it must be.

  • Comment removed

  • nto =

You mean a god wouldn't have to resort to threats and violence against helpless creatures to get its way?

  • this is a good point, i hadn't ever considered this

ja stimmt, darüber habe ich noch nie gedenkt

    :)

  • This actually does exist:

    ttp://scienceblogs(dot)com/pharyngula/2008/01/and_heres_one_for_the_linguist.php

  • hey christians say that God is everywhere, but in your teaching here says that "god came down". Why would he come down if he's everywhere? good video.

  • Good observation. The only logical explanation is that Christianity is bullshit.

  • I'm waiting for the day when all humans have evolved the ability to realize that obvious satire is satire.

  • good vid. Thanks

  • language did not evolve:/ i didnt think a biological process could go into language:/

  • er -

I'm using the word 'evolve' in the sense of descent with modification as opposed to the creationism of the bible.

  • so this is just a parody really:/

  • Cute

  • Wow...this is pretty sad... So you're saying we shouldn't learn different languages? Please tell me this was all just a parody...

I might as well not use any sort of technology while I'm at it and such, hell why not tell everyone to be Amish while you're at it.

  • Thy blasphemer!

Let us reject evolution, linguistics and astronomy. Because the Lord has stopped the earth still upon Gibeon (Joshua 10:12).

And let us further more abandon common sense. The only sense is in the Lord and God has all sense.

  • whats even stranger is that he's saying that we beleive language evlved, it developed individually, i dont think you can apply a biological process to speaking:/ its strange how often creationists us e the word evolve in order to make somthing stupid up with it and disprove that, its beonmd strawmen:/

  • it's satire.

  • If nothing evolved..language, or people...we wouldnt have the things we do today. Language went from body language, which is still used today, to grunting..to form words. How we came up with these word baffles my mind. There seams to be a skip somewhere, where we were grunting, then all of a sudden, we were useing metal, and talking.

  • i wouldnt call hat evolution, id call that a devolopment of communication and learnng skills

  • erech -

The point is that nothing derives naturally from anything else - it's all created as we know it today by God once and for all.

  • yeah......i mean we come from dust........its so obvious:/

  • 'The point is that nothing derives naturally from anything else'

    the evidence says otherwise

  • Electricity = Creator (God), if you don't untherstand thizz yhe rEtardd :)

  • Electricity, therefore God? It simply does not follow. (Probably a hidden argument from ignorance.)

  • ...and if you believe this crappy video...I've got some WONDERFUL real estate to talk to you about.

  • tuffi -

So sad you don't believe the Bible...

  • I believe in GOD. The bible is a guide and was also written 2000 years ago. There is NO WAY they could comprehend our way of life today. Therefore, we can NOT take ALL that the bible say verbatum. But, we SHOULD follow it's meaning and intent. God said "ALL men are created equal"... "All men have sinned and have come short of the glory of God". You are a flase prophet and a twister of the true word that God has spoken.

  • tuffi -

It was Thomas Jefferson who said "All men are created equal" - he was often described as an atheist and helped establish the separation of church and state in the United States of America. Thank God!

If we are to take the literal word of the bible as fact we must acknowledge linguistic creationism and god's plan of each person/separate language.

  • "All men are created equal"

he didnt say that exactly, he said 'all men are made equal' not created, and yes there is a difference

  • If bible is a guide like you say than it's not really anything. You ignore the stuff you don't like and focus on stuff you do like.

Be more honest with yourself and become a deist or an agnostic.

You already don't need the bible to tell you what's right and what's wrong. It will only twist your reasoning and cloud your judgment.

  • 'Be more honest with yourself and become a deist or an agnostic.'

    im atheist/agnostic.

  • Just be an atheist.

  • no, im not ruling out the possibility of a god, if i do im subjecting myself from a possibility (however improbable that possibility)

  • My only argument with that is that its also possible that zeus runs the universe or that you can change into a vampire. To me the ideas are equally flawed. You surely have things that you dont believe 100%, right?

  • no, im not sure if they exsist or not, but i dont eleive them, thus i am atheist/agnostic

dont tell me what to be:/

  • lol nothing personal erech. I get the agnostic part, but what part is atheist? I only commented to you because im curious as to the details. Everyone i know is either an agnostic or atheist its pretty black and white for alot of people.

  • well i dont beleive in a god/gods, thats where my atheism comes from

however, im not ruling out the possibility of a god even if i dont beleive in one

  • Stop cherry-picking. The bible is either the word of god or it's not.

  • its so sad you dont beleive the FSM or the 'koran' or fairys, or santa clause

  • I'm thankful that I'm not a bilingual or multilingual sinner.

Learning Spanish or French, the languages of the lazy cowards who cross our borders illegally and fail to fight terrorism, is morally wrong. There is no difference in the eyes of God between choosing to be bilingual or choosing to be bisexual.

I speak the Hetro-English language with pride and conviction, and the knowledge that God favorite children speak English. That's why he gave us more money and more guns. He loves us best.

  • jw -

We have many reasons to be grateful to God, and the means and motivation to kill our fellow men must certainly top the list.

  • this guy is an idiot.

its not too hard to see relationships between languages. looking at your holy book for all the answers is simple ignorance.

  • Preacher Dan is a true Christian.

  • Great. English didn't even exist when the Tower of Babel myth was written. I wonder when "God" created the English.

  • excellent point. after i read your comment I looked it up and sure enough that is correct. Another weapon in my arsenal of rationality. Thanks. I actually learned something today.

  • Funnyyy!

  • Well said.

  • I cannot recall who it was, but one US preacher is quoted as saying:"If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, then English is good enough for me." He sure had some idea about languages.

  • haha this is hilarious

  • lol

  • This is sad..

Because I can actually see a preacher saying all of these.. and MEANING IT.

  • yea i agree with thefakeyeti i can see a preacher actually saying this or a christian stumblin apun this video and saying oh yea good point god gave us different languages for a reason how dare we defy him by learning another
