Based on the trailer, Chronicle is definitely ripping this movie off to a degree. Especially the scenes of the military battling the kids in a final attempt to stop them. Warner Bros. did a very smart move by canceling their live-action remake of this classic. It sounded like a disaster waiting to happen. Not only would the live-action Akira movie have been a horrible movie that would damage a great franchise, but it also would have ruined WB's reputation for making such great movies. Akira is such a awesome classic manga, wot I like so much bout this manga is everything is turned upside down. Here u hav a dark world, that shows hardly anything that is beautiful and good. Even the characters, the Colonel although he acts like a hero, he is responsible for allowing experiments on Tetsuo. And Kanaeda treats Tetsuo kinda like the small weaker one of the group, he does care bout him, but then this gets flipped rnd. Tetsuo himself is a tragic hero, its all just awesome.

This anime really shows the quality of animation even after over 20yrs when in the hands of quality animators. The downside to the anime and manga is that everybody looks like each other.
