what he is wearing however is out of line/sync with the Uniting Church in Australia - which prefers/instructs it's ordained clergy to wear the white ecumenical-alb and stole. Wearing academic clothing along with it kind of construes the point of Liturgical Dress. I don't think I will be going to St Michaels when I visit Melbourne.
What he is wearing is like a uniform and there are practical reasons for wearing it. In reality it is no different to the uniform of a Judge, or Chef, or police officer.
The wearing of it does not signify a self centered pride, although as a recipient of the Order of Australia for his work in religion and psychology, he could be forgiven for feeling a little bit happy about his achievements. He wouldn't see it that way though.
This must be viewed within context of the entire service which does include many mentions of God, Jesus, and prayer. I would post this to, but usually those moments do not carry the same significance on YouTube as one feels within the service.
You can flame this video (which is a social event within St Michaels) as much as you wish, but I would rather hear your comments on what is said within Dr Macnabs addresses which is where you will hear the heart of the New Faith.
'...the drift to unbelief....' led, perhaps, by the people of this organisation and Dr McNab. This is a church, inducting its council, yet no mention of God, of Jesus Christ, and no prayer? No reading from the Bible, just a quote from a deceased former member. Hey, I would rather go to the annual general meeting of a sporting club.
