  • thanks! the two colors are good. It is sometimes too close to camera to stay in focus.

  • aww...look at the lonely crochet hook in the background..he says "hold me" T~T

  • Very interesting video! Thanks for explaining what it is. I might have to try that some day :P I'm new to knitting so it'll take a while for me to be comfortable trying something new. I **am** trying to find a very stretchy cast on and this might just be it. Though it looks quite complicated. I'll favorite this video so I can find it later down the road. Thanks!!

  • I can't see what you are doing with the white yarn, it's off camera.

  • You are welcome--I've done the same--that is used it as a start to double knitting (i do LOTS of double knitting)

I have also used it for a double knit cuff on a pair of socks

  • Thanks to this extremely helpful video, I just used this method to cast on a double knitting project (on the first row, instead of slipping every other stitch, I purled them in the 2nd color). I *LOVE* the edge it created and will be using it for at least 2 future double knitting projects. Thank you for the clear instruction!

  • How right you are, why can't we just pool all together. I just don"t understand why I have never seen my style ever used. It is so easy once you get coordinated, and much faster also. If anyone knows what I mean please let me know?

I have a friend that knits the most elaborate beautiful sweaters I ever saw burt still uses the throw method, she could be so much faster with my stye, she refuses to try.

  • I come from a long line of Italian knitters and I never saw this cast on.

  • @rosewood513

I am sure you are right! its amazing how cast ons get named.. no rhyme or reason!

Long tail has lots of names too.. and the twisted long tail is just twisted, or norwegian or german or.. some other nationality. and is likely know by other names in Norway or Germany!

  • thank you for this video. this is very practical and helpful.

  • After watching quite a few videos on different casting methods on youtube, I have to say this is my favourite video so far because it's visually clear and you explain what you are doing and why and also explain the advantages to this method. This technique looks like something I will definitely be using - the end result seems pretty and practical.

  • that looks much easier and neater than the wate yarn method. zmy waste yarn tubular cast on always rolls up on the completed item and i hate it! looks like this will stay put!

  • I really appreciate you doing this with the two colors of yarn so that it is easy to see what is being done! Thank you for doing this video. I'm loving YouTube for knitting how-tos.

  • thank you - you explain why you are doing what you are doing & SLOWLY so beginners can see what you are doing & what to do after the cast on row & also what are the results of your method=

  • Thank you so much for this tutorial. I've been trying to use another and just cannot get their instructions. You've made it clear and now I can finally start this project.

  • That's very clear and helpful! Thanks!
